Works in Experimental Instance but not Normal Instance - roslyn

I've created a couple of code diagnostic analyser and a colourisation which are packaged into a single VSIX. This VSIX works perfectly in the Experimental instance of visual studio, the diagnostic analyser and colourisation works.
So decide to installing it into the non-Experimenatlal (the default one) instance.
It installs, appears in the list of extension and is enabled.
Everything appears fine but the analysers and colourisation ain't working?
Any ideas of what could be the cause?
Using the VS2015 preview.
I have tried restarting VS2015 it still doesn't work.

How to - Get Oracle.ManagedAccess driver to work with Installed VB.Net Application

I have a 32bit Application to Install on Win10 (x64 OS). All my Oracle functionality works from within the debugger. Oracle.ManagedAccess driver is correctly registered in the VS Projects and the application works as expected from within the debugger. However, when I build my WiX-Based install pack and run the installed application I get the following error:
What am I missing here? In the previous VS2013 incarnation of the code as recently as last month using the ODP.NET driver 'Oracle.DataAcess', the application worked fine when installed. I'm at a loss as to where else to take this. Any assistance most welcome.
Based on input from Stein Asmul, I jave resolved the problem. Solution simply involved including the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.ddl in the product.wxs depositing the file in the application folder solved the problem.

Visual Studio 2015 can't run unit test

Since I installed VS2015, I can't run unit tests on neither VS2013 nor VS2015
Below is the error:
Model compatibility cannot be checked because the database does not contain model metadata. Ensure that IncludeMetadataConvention has been added to the DbModelBuilder conventions.
Anybody experiencing the same problem?
I had the same problem (also after installing VS2015). What solved it for me was to move the solution. Others reported that "creating a new solution and adding all the projects again solved it". I think the test runner somehow marked the solution (via the path). So just changing the path works.
I think (but I did not try) that after a single successful run (move solution, open solution from new directory, running tests, closing solution, move back) everything could work again as the database should be setup correctly.

VS2010 Intellisense problems

This question actually is an implicit answer, since I could fix the problem in the meantime for myself. But I wanted to publish my experience, since some other developers might have a similar problems.
The problem:
I am using VS2010 prof SP1 on Windows XP SP3, pure C++ only. (AntiVirus software present).
Since some days Intellisense - which is quite helpful under normal conditions - does not work anymore.
Things tried:
created a new simple console application. -> Intellisense still not working.
resetting VS-Settings by means of Tools/Import & Export Settings/Reset. -> Intellisense still not working
Changes to option settings in Text-Editor/C++/Advanced inclusive logging did not help.
-> Intellisense still not working
There was actually an interesting observation:
Intellisense normally creates a directory 'ipch' in the solution directory to store intermediate files. In my solution folders it disappeared as soon as the solution was opened. When I created a folder 'ipch' and opened the solution Intellisense removed the folder again - strange.
The final fix:
During the last week some new Windows updates were installed. I noticed some other unusual behaviour of my PC as well. After having created an image of my PC, I decided to
uninstall Windows updates from 2013-09-11 (4 packages) and one update from 2013-08-28.
(unfortunately I did not note down the KB-numbers)
AND: out of a sudden Intellisense is working again !
Maybe this report could be helpful for some other persons.
Automatic Updates are now disabled on my PCs.
Confirmed 100%
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Version 10.0.30319.1 RTMRel
Microsoft NET framework 4.0.30319 RTMRel
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Intellisense stops working after installing KB2876217.
Intellisense is back after removing update.
I had the same problem and also had the idea that one of the Windows Updates is buggy, so I can confirm your report.
I tried to uninstall them one-b<-one and found the "bad guy":
KB2876217 destroys intellisense for VS2010 under XP SP3.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft to fix this issue. Check at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2526044/en-us
Actually, it may not be such a good idea to uninstall update KB2876217. Instead, install Visual Studio SP1 update (if not already installed) and then install update KB2526044. I have tried it before and it does work...

How to make a c++ project run on a different PCs

I developed a small c++ program in Visual Studio 2012 on Windows7, 64bit (let's call it PC1). On that pc it runs fine!
Since I didn't have a versioning control system like SVN at hand, I copied ALL the project data (the exact folder structure, DLLs, source files, project files...) to a usb stick and moved it to another computer.
On that other engine there's Visual Studio 2010 on Windows7, 64bit (PC2).
So I just changed the platform toolset to v100 as described here.
I successfully compiled the project on PC2 (clean, build) and wanted to run the exe, but the command prompt stayed empty.
I then tried to debug and added a breakpoint at the very first line of main - which wasn't reached, the command prompt was still empty.
Ok, a usb stick is certainly not the most secure solution for data storage, so I gave it another try and moved it again - the problem remains.
Visual Studio's output on PC2 is the same as on PC1, so I couldn't find any anomalies there.
Yeah, there might be many error sources, so where can I start?
And how can I get a more verbose output for troubleshooting?
Or is this even a common phenomenon (perhaps due to different VS versions) and there's an simple way fix it?
This is not a full solution, but at least I'm a tiny step ahead:
In my last comment I wrote:
I took your advices into account and created a brand new project on PC2, VS2010. I exactly followed this guide: http://frozenhamster.wordpress.com/2011/02/11/lapack-on-windows-with-visual-studion-2010/
That didn't work either, so I removed I "out-commented" everything except for a single cout. Voila, that worked!
But as soon as I make use of the desired Armadillo (LAPACK and BLAS), the project compils but does not run.
What's going wrong here?
I don't get any compiler errors!

C++ application fails to start correctly (0xc000000d)

I'm writing a C++ application using VS2010 on two dev computers - both are Win7 64bit SP1. I use git to sync the repositories.
On one of the machines the compiled executable (and also the test exec) stopped working with the following error, while on the other machine it works fine and I'm able to continue development.
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000000d). Click OK to close the application.
I tried deleting the repository and cloning it again. I also made sure I have the same versions of Boost, git, Visual Studio. Also, I tried debugging (stepping in) but the error occurs before any line of code is reached.
Notice as far as I understand I'm tracking Visual Studio's solution\project configuration files as detailed here.
I'm at a loss, how would you debug this?
UPDATE 1:
Only the Debug version fails to run. The Release version runs fine
UPDATE 2: The executable that doesn't work does work on the other computer!
UPDATE 3: I've reinstalled VS2010 (exactly the same version) - didn't help. Surprisingly the compiled files are not the same size between the two machines.
I got the same problem as you mentioned.
My solution:
Clean the manifest file and rebuild
In the property page-> Manifest tool -> make sure "Additional Options" is set to nothing.
(I set it as "/validate_manifest" before).
Or you can try "Embed Manifest -> NO", rebuild and then set back to Yes. It sounds to be ridiculous, but it really works sometimes. I don't know why.
I got the same phenomenon suddenly without a warning on Win7 / VS2010 / C++. Debug App couldn't be launched, got 0xC000000D at initializing and loading multiple dlls. Found one base dll of my own responsible, played around with linker settings. Modifying settings, incremential rebuild -> app starts, rebuild all -> app crashes again. After setting "generate manifest" to "no" in the linker settings the sample app works, but the main app still crashes. After setting "generate manifest" to "no" for the most of my dlls -> the app starts in debug mode again. The stuff is very spurious, because some dlls need the modified settings others do not.
Have a look at the top two answers to this question
Program crashes with 0xC000000D and no exceptions - how do I debug it?
On the machine where it fails, try running the debug executable NOT under the debugger, and update your question to say what happens. If it crashes, are you able to then attach the debugger whilst the message box is still there and get a stack trace that tells you what function it is crashing in?
This is the weirdest thing....
Try deleting the "ipch" directory and then rebuilding.
Hope it works for you, I have wasted hours on this.
disabling/enabling precompiled headers fixed the issue for me.
I was facing crash on Debug x64 only - I guess it was related to an upgrade from boost 1.50 to 1.52, while keeping pch files.
in my case i got it working again by setting generate manifest to NO on all projects
I have changed "Embed manifest" setting to NO and then back to YES but it didn't help.
For me setting General->Platform Toolset to Windows SDK 7.1 for my program and all dependent libraries compiled with it helped.
It's the ipch just delete the entire folder and it will clear it up. I was confused for a while too.
I saw the error while using OpenCV library compiled with MSVC2010 in a project running on MSVC2015. Changing project configuration properties->General->Platform toolset from Visual Studio 2015(v140) to Visual studio 2010(v100) resolved the error.
