I wanted to use OpenAI Whisper for video transcription, but I don't know if it's worth to spend money with a server or just use a 3rd party transcription service.
How we normally host those type of services? Because that requires some good GPU processing.
That would be really helpful, thank you!
I tried looking at AWS and Google Cloud services, but I don't know exactly the type of service that I need to use the large pre-trained model they provide.

Lets assume I have a client who has plethora of data related to railways(Signals, tracks, train timings, hazard. offers etc). There are various internal department in railways which wants that data. Just like various weather websites get data from weather department and show that data on their website. Similar is my requirement that I want to share the data securely with other department and services. I want to look at best method to share the data to other services as quickly as possible when the data is available.
Possible Solution
API based: Create API for each department and share them data via API. This has its own pros and cons. This is something which came to my mind but we would have to create lot go API's I was looking if Azure and AWS has any other service which can do the same.
Azure based solution: I am looking for help in this if Azure and services it provides can help. Service bus, Event Grid, Event Hub etc can these be of any use?.
AWS based solution: Is there any service in AWS which can help here?. I dont have much exposure to AWS.
Any other solution ?
I have a fair idea that this could be built using API's but I am looking if I can get this done using cloud platforms like Azure and AWS> This will help in better integration of the product and can scale.
Is it possible to open a website, like facebook.com for example, on an amazon web service?
My objective is to automate a certain task in a game and to do so without having to be online on my computer. The point is to spend less time on that game, but to not be left behind on the progress. (I'm building a bot to automate the daily tasks there, just need to know if i can now leave everything running on amazon)
Another project i want to do is to automate access to my email account and perform certain tasks depending on the emails i receive.
You get the point, i tried searching on google but i only find results about creating or hosting your own website in there and not about accessing existing websites and using automation in them.
It sounds like what you want is a virtual private server - basically a computer in the cloud that you control and is always on.
AWS have a service called LightSail for this kind of purpose. Under the hood lightsail just uses EC2, but lightsail takes away a lot of the options and configuration to provide a simpler 'click and go' kind of service.
Once you have a server you can schedule regular tasks. Depending on the complexity of your needs, you could look at using Cron as a scheduler and curl for you http requests.
For the specifics of any project you have I would suggest opening a new question with details of what you are trying to do, the reading you have done, and examples of any code you have tried.
I am working with my team to prep a project for a potential client. We've researched Amazon MWS API, and we're trying to develop an algorithm using the data scraped from this API.
Just want to make sure we understand the research correctly:
Is it possible to scrape data from Amazon.com like the plugins RevSeller or HowMany do? Then can we add that data to a database for use in an algorithm to determine whether or not an Amazon reseller should invest in reselling a product?
Thanks!
I am doing a similar project. I don't know the specifics of RevSeller or HowMany, but another very popular plugin is Amzpecty. If you use a tool like Fiddler, you can see the HTTP traffic and figure out what it does. They basically scrape out the ASIN and offer listing ID's on the current page you are looking at and one-by-one call the Amazon Product Advertising API, which is not the same thing as MWS. Out of that data returned, they produce a nice overlay that tells you all kinds of important stuff.
Instead of a browser plugin, I'm just writing an app that makes HTTP calls based on a list of ASIN's to the PA API and then I can run the results through my own algorithms. Hope that gives you a starting point.
I'm looking at speeding up a video before storing it in S3. I haven't found anything on the AWS docs about this.
Is this something that can be done with AWS Elastic Transcoder?
Thanks!
Sébastien
It's not possible. Yet.
Thought, You can try writing to their forum, asking for this feature...
It sounds like it's the only way to get this kind of functionality exported to API.
Extracted from faqs:
Q: Why is the codec parameter that I want to change not exposed by the API?
In designing Amazon Elastic Transcoder, we wanted to create a service that was simple to use. Therefore, we expose the most frequently used codec parameters. If there is a parameter that you require, please let us know by letting us know through our forum.
Aha, apparently, already did :}
What is a better mBaaS that supports offline sync and caching?
I am evaluating several mBaaS solutions for my hybrid mobile app under development. I looked at Kinvey, Kii, buddy, and Telerik BackEnd platform. I have also came across some open source solutions like openmobster and dreamfactory. I am looking to store data in sql-lite on mobile app and then sync it back with an online data store. Kinvey has this support, but their pricing model (per user) is not suitable in my scenario. I can see that openmobster does this but, how is what I need to understand? Can I host in on Azure VM or something? Also please suggest if there is any other solution commercial/open source capable of doing offline sync and caching with push notifications and data storage?
DreamFactory could be a good fit for your scenario. It is open source and comes with a full 30 days of free support. After which it's only like $25/month for a developer account - and this isn't even a requirement to use its product. It's specifically a support package.
To address your question a little more in-depth... I don't believe DreamFactory supports offline syncing at the moment, though they plan to very soon. In regards to sql-lite, DreamFactory's (DSP) product has a built in sql-lite driver to connect to that DB. However, it hasn't been tested enough for them to say it is a fully supported RDBMS. One of the beautiful things about DreamFactory is you're able to host the DSP (DreamFactory Service Platform) on Azure and Amazon EC2 instances (cloud solutions), host locally on your own server, or even use its own free hosted edition!
I would definitely take a little time to look into DF. It doesn't seem to me like you have much to lose. Especially, considering it's a free open-source product!
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about DreamFactory!
