I have a simple table here:
I need to make a measure that counts records grouped by the Number column.
Ideally:
I also need this measure to by dynamic for whatever records are selected. So if a subset of the table is being used:
(Same example table, but with 2 less records)
Then the ideal output would be:
Now output for number '1' is 2 instead of 4.
Some of the code I tried:
,"CNT",COUNTROWS(ALLSELECTED([Table1]))
,"Summz",SUMMARIZE(ALLSELECTED(Table1),"CNT",COUNTROWS(Table1))
,"CALC",CALCULATE(COUNT(Table1[Rownum]),ALLEXCEPT(Table1,Table1[Number]))
,"CALCII",CALCULATE(
SUMX(
ADDCOLUMNS(
SUMMARIZE(Table1,Table1[Rownum])
,"Freq",DISTINCTCOUNT(Table1[Number])
),
[Freq])
,REMOVEFILTERS(Table1[Rownum])
)
I feel like I'm close but not getting it. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you
Try this.
Freq = CALCULATE( COUNT(Table1[Number]), ALLEXCEPT(Table1,Table1[Number]))

I need help in calculating the cumulative frequencies row wise with minimum date and maximum date selection by users using sliders. Here is the table that I want to generate could you please guide me? I've tried various function and methods but nothing is giving me right answer. Thanks a lot in advance.
Below is the table that I've and I want to generate:
Original Table
Desired Table
To create a running total, create a new measure in your table like this (where Table is the name of your table):
Running Total = CALCULATE(
SUM('Table'[Values]);
FILTER(ALLSELECTED('Table'); 'Table'[Date] <= SELECTEDVALUE('Table'[Date]))
)
Did anyone know how to convert RunningCount into Power bi Dax ?
I test on RunningTotal, Rankx but seems not working.
The [year] is just a text column not in Datetime format.
I still new on this and not sure if my explain is good enough or not. Sorry for any inconvenient cause.
I try to create measure/ calculation column in power bi from the formula below.
I need the count by Year, break by column like product, customer, rate and category.
Before I get into my solution, there are a few assumptions I had to make:
The "Year" column is supposed to be years, and not five digit numbers. So in my data I dropped the second "2" in each (i.e. "20213" -> "2013").
You may have another column in your data to break ties, but given the data you provided, there is no way to rank the first and third lines (they both have product ABC and year 2003).
Given those assumptions, here is my solution...
First, here is what my data looks like. I added an ID column so that we can see every row, even duplicates.
From there, you can simply add a new column with the following formula.
Running Count =
COUNTROWS(
FILTER(
'Data',
[ProductName] = EARLIER([ProductName]) &&
[Customer] = EARLIER([Customer]) &&
[Seller] = EARLIER([Seller]) &&
[Year] <= EARLIER([Year])
)
)
The EARLIER function is being used to specify a ProductName, Customer, etc. from the row of the table to be used in the filtering of the data. Once we have the data filtered, we can simple count the number of rows.
The final result looks like this. As noted in my second assumption, there is no way to break ties, so my numbers are slightly off from what you have in your screenshot
This might be very basic but I am new to PowerBI.
How do I get average of values for unique ID into another table.
For eg. My Table 1 has multiple ID values. I have created another table for unique ID which I am planning to used to join other table.
I want a calculated column in table 2 which will give me average value of respective ID from table 1.
How do I get the calculated column like shown below
In stead of creating a new table with the averages per ID and then joining on that, you could also do it directly with a calculated column using the following DAX expression:
Average by ID = CALCULATE(AVERAGE('Table 1'[Values]),ALLEXCEPT('Table 1','Table 1'[ID]))
Not exactly what you asked for, but maybe it's useful anyway.
How's it going?
The quickest way I can think of doing this would be to use
SUMMARIZECOLUMNS
You can accomplish this by creating another table based on your initial fact table like so:
Table 2 =
SUMMARIZECOLUMNS ( 'Table 1'[ID], "Avg", AVERAGE ( 'Table 1'[Values] ) )
Once this table has been created, you can create a relationship.
This will work in either SSAS or in PowerBI directly.
Hope this helps!! Have a good one!!
I've been struggling to find a way to achieve the result of a matrix visualization in Power BI, in a line and clustered column chart.
I have tried using ALLSELECTED, ALL, ALLEXCEPT in order to ignore one filter but no matter how I try it, I'm not reaching my end goal.
CarCountPerCategory =
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(Table[CarID]),
ALLSELECTED(Table[Filter])
)
This still breaks down the measure to the Filter level instead of ignoring it. I am looking for something that will give me the total distinct count regardless of the Filter column. E.g. TimesReshopped 1 - 190 on all 3 columns, TimesReshopped 2 - 182 on all 3 columns of the Filter Column series. I need this as a sidestep in order to divide the distinct car count to the total distinct car count per times reshopped in order to reach the percentage that I am looking for. (the one in the matrix)
Can someone help me with some advice? Thank you.
Try this:
[Total Category Count]:=
SUMX ( SUMMARIZE ( Table, Table[TimesReshopped] ), [Count of CarID] )
I got to the bottom of this by using ALLEXCEPT and providing all the filter that I was using:
CarCountPerCategory =
CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(Table[CarID]),
ALLEXCEPT(Table,Table[Year],Table[Month],Table[LocationName],Table[CustCode],Table[TimeReshoped])
)
I have a powerbi report which is running a dax formula to calculate a custom measure. In the picture below, the total at the bottom doesn't seem to add up to the individual rows. I've been trying my luck for some time and can't seem to figure out why this is.
The DAX formula used is as follows
SumRest<24hrs7Day = CALCULATE(
DISTINCTCOUNT(WorkTimeDirective[EmployeeKey]),
FILTER(
ADDCOLUMNS(
SUMMARIZE(WorkTimeDirective,Employee[EmployeeKey],'Date'[DateKey]),
"totRestHrs", CALCULATE(MAX(WorkTimeDirective[RestHours])
,DATESINPERIOD('Date'[DateKey], LASTDATE('Date'[DateKey]), -7, DAY))
),
[totRestHrs]<24
),
WorkTimeDirective[IsEmployeeAbove18]=1
)
Any idea why this is and what I am doing wrong.
For using SUMX the main step is listing the values which you are iterating over, which it typically a table or column. In this case it sounds like you would do a column.
For the example I just had it call the measure you already defined, since breaking DAX calculations into smaller pieces makes writing/testing complex formulas easier.
The idea being that it would iterate over the unique values which are in your TableName[Site Name], then run the [SumRest<24hrs7Day] under that context. I used TableName for the table due to not knowing the name for the table.
SUMX_Example = SUMX( VALUES( TableName[Site Name], [SumRest<24hrs7Day])
