I found this blog that addresses the task I want to accomplish which is; being able to get real time notifications in django admin (backend alerts) every time a new order in placed on an ecommerce website. However the blog is dated 2014 and the swamp django repository referenced hasn't been maintained atleast for 4 years ago.
Would you recommend I go ahead and deploy using this library because I believe alot has changed since then and I don't want to get into loops of fixing errors which have no updated and maintained documentation. Or do you know of any other library that I could use instead to do such a task. The ultimate objective here would be to even have an audio sound/notification play everytime a new order is placed or cart has been emptied.
Thanks.
Schedule labors for the given task, based on different constraints.
Constraints examples are labor Skills, time, locations, shifts, holidays, priorities, capacity, etc.
Problem description:
Let us say there is a task to set up the Linux server in California on 25th Dec and to set up the server, it takes 5 hours of time. To set up a Linus server we would need labor who is skilled with the Linux server and stays in California and should be free on 25th Dec from 9 am - 3 pm. total six hours.
So if there is a pool of labor resources and if I have to find suitable labors for multiple tasks, What approach should I follow?
I google and found that this is a constraint-based programming problem and google OR Tools and other models provide a way to solve it.
So I started looking into Google OR Tools Google OR Tools doc.
The documentation provides basic examples.
I found another doc on git hub for google OR which better than the above link.
Git hub doc for google OR Tools
I tried implementing the nurse scheduling program which given here Google OR nurse scheduling
I am having difficulty in understanding the program. It is not that I am having difficulty in understanding python or java.
So my questions are.
What are the way of solving such a problem?
Is Google OR is the right tool? If yes, What are the prerequisite for google OR if somebody has weak maths background?
How should I proceed to solve such a problem?
Background
We provide some webservices to export and import some data to a website. Unfortunatly the programmers of that website don't seem to, or don't want to understand, that if they try three times and get three errors, the 1,000,000th time it also will give an error.
So they constantly open new requests to the webservice wich result in a constant flow of new business connector users. The problem with this is that they creating database blocks, but the database will not be able to solve this because when it will time out, there are a few 1000 new business connector users waiting to block that process all over again. This morning the whole server was inresponsive and a reboot of the AOS toke about 32 minutes to complete. (normally it would take 2 minutes)
Question
I was searching for a way to limit the number of business connector users. The only related post I found was this one:
http://www.archivum.info/microsoft.public.axapta.programming/2010-01/00045/RE-.NET-business-connector-amp-Web-Services.html
Unfortunatly there is no answer to their question and I couldn't find more topics.. Does anyone have an idea how I could solve this?
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appriciated.. :)
It sounds as if the problem is with the web service. Can you rework it so that it does not cause blocking?
Meanwhile, look into the MaxConcurrenctBCSessions setting.

In an enterprise scenario where a ColdFusion application is used to register for a event, would it be possible to programmatically add an entry into the calendar of a person?
Google has given me some partial idea's like connecting via JDBC/ iCalendar, etc...
Any ideas & experiences are appreciated
Thanks!
Something I have seen in the past is that after the person has registered for the event, a link is given, something like:
Click here to add this event to your calendar
The link goes to an .ical file, which Lotus Notes (as well as Outlook, and various other calendaring clients) can use to add the event to the user's calendar. You can create an iCal file using CFiCalLib.
It's totally possible.
I've done a lot of direct Coldfusion - Notes integration in the past 12 years and the newer versions of Notes should have many integration points (scripts, agents, COM, etc) to create/edit calendar events.
Adam's angle might be good enough for you, I'd try that out. If you're looking for something to be a little more direct (between the coldfusion and notes server directly, like sharepoint), there's options as well.

We need an address finder (premise level) based on postcode. We have a budget of 40k for this. But I have been assigned to find some cheaper alternatives for Royal mail PAF database. Is Google any good to find premise level address when you send full postcode. Any recommendation over Royal Mail PAF file. Any web services out there for this to accomplish? Please share your knowledge.
Cheers,
Naren
We use products from AFD for this, they work well for us.
Edit just saw Best way to geocode UK postcode with Google Maps API? on the front page.
In the UK the government has said that PAF data should be made free[1]. I'm painfully aware of the almost extortionate nature that Royal Mail operate.
Having worked with Royal Mail PAF API, I known a 'friend' (wink wink) that created a class wrapper around the APIs. This 'friend' of mine built a custom Importer that automatically ripped all the PAF data into a MS SQL database. Post the data import, he no longer needs to renew he's licences because he is no longer using PAF data.
This may be something you could do also, buy the data one time an import it.
As for data changes, you can buy perhaps every few years e.g. 2-3 years and do a update of your existing data.

I work as the integrations specialist for Postcode Anywhere (we are one of the leading Royal Mail PAF resellers). Address capture doesn’t have to be expensive – and you don’t have to sacrifice reliability for an affordable service. Postcode Anywhere can be licensed either on a simple credit pack based system or on an annual basis, and you can be up and running in 10 minutes using our JavaScript client. If you are looking to create a more bespoke integration we also have an array of web services and code samples to help you.
If you want to have a play around with the service to see what you think we will be more than happy to provide you with a free trial. A full run-down of all of our products and services can be found here: http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/products.
I work for CraftyClicks.
There are a few PAF resellers around. The data is all the same, prices can vary significantly. Best to spend a few minutes browsing the various sites.
At CraftyClicks our focus is on uptime/availability and keeping the price of PAF data reasonable - at high volumes the price falls to well below 1 penny a click.
Our address lookup web service can be integrated client side via JavaScript or server side via XML.
Let us know your requirements (adam at craftyclicks.co.uk) - you shouldn't be spending anywhere near 40k for this!
Adam.
The base PAF data is the same but a lot of value is put into adding information that is not included into PAF to help with realtime and batch addressing matching with products based on PAF. We have a lot of locality information that is not included within PAF but people tend to use within their address.
As to updates, there are thousands of changes every month so its vital that you use a source that has regular updates to the PAF data and also associated files such as business and consumer names data that also help in the matching process.
Have a look at our site www.capscan.com for both UK and International data quality with services delivered either installed or as a web service.
