Good day,
I have a question.
And that is a quite simple question, but nevertheless I could not find the answer directly using the search functionality.
I got a question from a client to create a straightforward APP that has to be installable from the playstore and appstore.
Now I see that Envato lists bunch of PWA templates. Now my question is. Is it as simple as downloading the tenplate. Using PHP to generate the custom content and modifying the manifest file for the project and upload the project to the appstore?
So basically modifying the PWA template as you would build a website. But now for an APP. Because when I am looking for it online this is my conclusion.
Or is there much more to it?
This is quite important for me to be sure. Since I don't want to shoot myself in the leg.

Want to build a video site like YouTube or peer tube but on my lan completely private, basically I want to pretend my kids are online when their not... plus a good project to learn.
A video based website would be easy to make. You could do this quite easily with a few Wagtail Pages, uploading videos as Documents and using a DocumentChooserPanel to select a video on each page.
To get started you'll want to start in two places:
The wagtail docs, available at http://docs.wagtail.io/en/latest/getting_started/tutorial.html, and
For additional tutorials https://wagtail.io/course/
Take it slow at first, get your virtual environment setup. Then move on to creating your first Wagtail Home Page and adding a few custom fields, then make them show up in the home_page.html template.
For future reference, when you ask questions on StackOverflow (or anywhere else) make sure you add more detail to your question. Including what you've done/tried so far, your end goal, or any problematic code you're working on will help you get answers faster and it'll generate better answers than mine.
Sorry if the title somewhat ambiguous.
I'm buliding an app that recieve an URL then return the final HTML code (and save it for caching), after Ajax and other js feature executed (something like Phantomjs).
My language can call C++ code, so I think it would be nice if I can buid and use Blink/Webkit libary directly.
The issue is both Blink/Webkit document is too big.
UPDATE 1: Which API (Blink has many APIlayer) or a particular class I need to look at?
Do you know any example or tutorial I should look at?
Or any alternative simpler libary?
Thanks
Finally Chromium project have headless API in development with very good example which can be build using ninja, more information in their project at https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/headless/

What is a good django open source app that I can learn from? Something that follows best practices, and covers the majority of features and isn't overly complicated?
This would depend on your current level of knowledge of python and django.
If you are just starting to use django, I suggest you take a look in django documentation. It is well specified and clear. If you have some project in mind, start working on it while looking up for best practices about specific parts. For python coding style try to follow the pep 8 style guide.
If you already have done some work with django there are many sites lie these:

http://www.django-apps.com/
What I do nowdays is look into django contrib apps (admin, auth, comments, flatpages), which are built based on the rest of django. This gives the best ways on how to write my apps.
Following the django comments framework (object independent), I am working on an app django-valuate (object independent attachment of ratings, likebuttons etc. through template tags)
These are some of my views. I have also starred this question, as I would like to know about some different perspectives and if mine are sound.
I've found djangobb (www.djangobb.org) to be a complete application, production quality and relatively simple. I use it as a base for my application which has nothing to do with forums and bb.
cloc output: only 3000 lines of python code in 30 files, another 2900 lines of templates html
I do not think there would be any one specific app that would cover all/most features of Django since the concept of the Django app itself is to perform specific/related functionality.
Having said that, a popular Django app is django-registration. Its popularity stems from the obvious requirement of most webapps to have User authentication and also its extremely easy to integrate with a Django project.
The best approach perhaps would be to keep trying the tons of open source Django apps available on the net. You can browse through http://www.djangopackages.com/ and http://www.django-apps.com/ to start getting your hands dirty.

Hello all CodeIgniter guys :), I'm new to CodeIgniter andIi have now put my project on github. Here is my github page: https://github.com/SimonJ/Hip-hop-project
So I would hear about someone bothered to look through my files and make comments about what I can do better so I can learn something new :)
I have tried to use ocular template system but I get this error:
An Error Was Encounter Unable to load the Requested Class: ocular
Do you know what I'm doing wrong?
This question borders on the edge of belonging on Code Review instead of Stack Overflow, but I'll help you with your templating issue.
Are you running PHP 5 on your server? It looks like Ocular is using "public" and "private" words for functions and variables.
You are running an older version of Codeigniter by the looks of it because I don't see a folder called "core" in your application folder. There's a community version of CI called Reactor here or you can get the standard CI 2.0 from EllisLab here. I would upgrade to one of those, personally I would use Reactor.
Ocular is great but Phil Sturgeon has a lighter template library simply called template you might be interested in looking at as well, here. Like I said in the first paragraph of this answer, go to Code Review if you would like to have your code critiqued and reviewed.
PS. Welcome to Codeigniter, it's an awesome PHP framework.
I'm updating a 0.5.1 complete_project to 0.7beta3 + virtualenv + pip + fabric.
I have converted my project into multiple stand-alone applications and I have everything being pulled down by pip from a requirements.txt file.
I am now moving the code over and so far can get the Welcome page and perform a log-in, but then it breaks, due, it appears, to the introduction of Group support and the refactoring of Tribes into Tribes and Topics.
Has anyone successfully made this move? If you did, how did you handle migrating your data? What should I be looking out for? Anyone have a checklist or list of steps? What other exciting challenges do I have to look forward to?
The short answer as far as I'm aware (and I've been following Pinax development for some time now) is that there is no straightforward path to upgrade the project from 0.5.1 to 0.7beta3. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the code, but this is the process I would use based on my limited experience:
Start by using the social_project/ that ships with the latest version of Pinax. Copy into it any changes you made to the settings.py file as well as any custom apps you have.
The templates and media have moved to folders outside of the projects, but if you customized any of them (I'm sure you did) take the custom ones and drop them into the template folders in your project to override those in the default theme folders. You should compare them to those in the theme folders to see what changes may need to be made to keep up with changes in the apps.
The next step would be to do the same thing with urls.py copying any customizations over the one provided by the project.
Try getting it running at this point with a fresh DB. Hopefully any errors will point you in the right direction to stuff that you might have missed or not known about.
Once you gotten it running most of the DB tables should be the same (I believe) except as you mentioned the Tribes stuff. Migrating the data, though, is still beyond what I've had to deal with.
Disclaimer: I've been following development but never had to perform an upgrade quite this big. Good luck and (obviously) back up your work and data before trying to port it all over.
See the documentation and code ( http://github.com/pinax/pinax/tree/master ) for more details. The code is a convenient (though tedious) way to watch the evolution between 0.5.1 and 0.7beta3, for what that's worth.
