Package name missmatch - unit-testing

I am working on a project where I have created the attached structure.
under tests->gchat_test I have two files init.go and gchat_test.go

for these files I am having the following error in VSCode
found packages gchat (gchat_test.go) and gchat_test (init.go) in /home/<<>>/errornotifier/tests/gchat_test
I tried from console as well just to make sure that this is not a VSCode issue

found packages gchat (gchat_test.go) and gchat_test (init.go) in /home/<<>>/errornotifier/tests/gchat_test
I have a similar structure for another set of tests and I didnt experience this error
under tests->kafka_test I have two files init.go and kafka_test.go

As a quick fix I moved the initiation from tests->gchat_test->init.go to tests->gchat_test->gchat_test.go and remove init.go then it works.
I want to understand why this error is thrown, even though I have the same package name for these files and how to fix it

Files that don't have a _test.go suffix will form the source files of the package. Files that have a _test.go suffix are excluded by go build. Test files declaring a package with _test suffix form a different package.
So basically you have a normal package gchat_test defined by the non-test file init.go, and you have a test package gchat_test defined by the test files gchat_test.go. Whether this will work depends on the Go tool implementation.
All in all, package names having _test should not be used in non-test packages. init.go is a non-test file, it should not declare a test package.
Compile packages and dependencies:
When compiling packages, build ignores files that end in '_test.go'.
Test packages:
'Go test' recompiles each package along with any files with names matching the file pattern "*_test.go". These additional files can contain test functions, benchmark functions, fuzz tests and example functions. See 'go help testfunc' for more. Each listed package causes the execution of a separate test binary. Files whose names begin with "_" (including "_test.go") or "." are ignored.
Test files that declare a package with the suffix "_test" will be compiled as a separate package, and then linked and run with the main test binary.

Protoc Output Directory Issue - No Such File or Directory

I recently finished the basic tutorial for C++ here and wanted to set up a project based on the proto files from here. I followed a similar directory structure as the tutorial and changed up the CMakeLists.txt file to accommodate the new files.
I'm currently trying to just compile the manager.proto file. I was able to compile the file and get my server/client files, however the files are being outputted within cmake/build/minknow_api rather than the expected cmake/build folder. This meant the make command would return the error:
clang: error: no such file or directory: '/Users/name/Documents/grpc/examples/cpp/minknow_api/cmake/build/manager.grpc.pb.cc'
clang: error: no input files
I read that it was because protoc outputs based on the imports of the proto file, i.e the file comes with import minknow_api/device.proto for instance. I copied the files from within the cmake/build/minknow_api into cmake/build/ and reran make and it seemed to work, however, the C++ file imports as expected are searching within a minknow_api directory, meaning I'd have to manually edit these imports to look within the current directory instead of to then compile successfully.
I've tried experimenting with trying to get rid of the minknow_api from the proto imports, however had no luck and only got more import issues during compilation. It seems some files have the same names for messages etc, which means I had to keep the minknow.somename as the package so I can thus distinguish in the files which imported values I wanted to access. I've also tried moving files into their own directories like instance.proto which has package minknow.instance would go inside of instance directory, but still no luck.
I was wondering if anyone could figure out how to get rid of the minknow_api out of my proto imports properly so that I won't get these import and output directory issues down the track?

ResolveAssemblyReference cannot find dll and I cannot force it to look where it is

I have solution with n csharp projects and cpp project on top, this cpp provides interfaces and headers so those csharp ones can be used in other cpp solutions.
The build machine is configured to build csharp project with anyCPU architecture so it provides single assembly per build in Solution\bin\Release. For cpp the anyCpu is not available so I build project twice and store assemblies in Solution\bin\Release\x86 and x64 folders.
This is all to get it packaged in nuget as a single package with .targets file to ease consumption in other cpp projects.
Issue is that cpp project is looking for csharp asseblies using ResolveAssemblyReference and cannot find it, giving missleading message:

I tried to alternate ResolveAssemblyReferences behaviour using command line properties, custom targets/properties, but without any luck. The parameters described in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/msbuild/resolveassemblyreference-task?view=vs-2017 seem to be computed during the build process and I cannot inject any value, which should be in this case something like $(OutDir)..
The one feasable solution seems to be copy c# dlls into each cpp folder, but I dont think it is the way to solve it properly.
Closes I got is by using /p:ReferencePath like below:

My custom Cpp.props does:

and by adding /p:ReferencePath it got added to AssemblySearchPaths as second record, after {CandidateAssemblyFiles}; but it is still not finding those dlls

Conan-Package: Getting compiled files from other Conan-Packages

I'm using Conan as a dependency manager for C++ and I want to create a package which requires a compiled file from another, already created, Conan-package.
I'm currently trying to create a package for the OpenStreetMap-Library OSM-binary (https://github.com/scrosby/OSM-binary.git).
The Makefile for this project (which can be found at ./OSM-binary/src/Makefile) requires a file called protoc from the protobuf-project (https://github.com/google/protobuf). This protoc-file can be found after compiling the protobuf-project in ./protobuf/src.
Without this file compiling the OSM-sources will fail with an error: make: ../protoc: Command not found
The Problem
As conan's documentation suggests to copy my needed files to folders in my package, e.g header-files to ./include, libs to ./lib, etc.
According to this, after building the protobuf-project via make, I'm copying the mentioned file via
def package(self):

self.copy("protoc", dst="scripts", src="./protobuf/src")
to an folder called "scripts".
But at this point the black magic starts.
My first question is, how can I access any of these packed files (e. g. the *.so files or any other files (here the protoc-file) which are present in an package) from another package?
For me, even after reading conan's documentation, it's not clear how conan stores it's packed files and how to access these or any other files packed in the previous step.
Now back at the OSM-Project my approach would be setting the correct path manually in the Makefile via the tools.replace command.
First I declared the protobuf-packaged as an requirement
requires = "protobuf/2.5.0#test/testing"
and replaced the corresponding lines (in version 1.3.3, line 7) in the osm-Makefile with the correct path to the protoc-file.

Now this leads us to my actual question: How do I get the path to the protoc-file which can be found in the protobuf-package in a folder called scripts, or is there any other way to do it?

There are different ways to access files from your dependencies:
If you want to directly run some file from your dependencies, you could use the self.run(...., run_environment=True), that will automatically set the PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, etc so the binaries are found in the place where the package is installed. Find more information here
You can directly import the files you want from your dependencies, doing a copy (which is done before the build() method) of such files into the build folder, so they can be directly used there. The path you can use in your script is the current one, or self.build_folder. The imported files will be automatically removed after build, so they are not accidentally repackaged. Check imports docs
You can obtain information from your dependencies from the self.deps_cpp_info attribute. Check the reference here. That means you can get the paths to your protobuf dependency with something like
def build(self):

protoc_root = self.deps_cpp_info["protobuf"].rootpath
# Note this is a list

I have a Go package with multiple files. As of Go standard I am creating an associated test file for each source file in the package.
In my case the different tests use the same test helping functions. I don't want these functions to be in the package source files because it is only used for testing purpose. I also would like avoiding replicating this code in each test file.
Where should I put this code shared between all the test source files and not part of the package ?
You just put it in any of the test files and that's all. Test files using the same package clause belong to the same test package and can refer to each other's exported and unexported identifiers without any import statements.
Also note that you're not required to create a separate _test.go file for each of the .go files; and you can have an xx_test.go file without having a "matching" xx.go file in the package.
For example if you're writing package a, having the following files:
a/
a.go
b.go
a_test.go
b_test.go
For black-box testing you'd use the package a_test package clause in a_test.go and b_test.go. Having a func util() in file a_test.go, you can use it in b_test.go too.
If you're writing white-box testing, you'd use package a in the test files, and again, you can refer any identifiers declared in a_test.go from b_test.go (and vice versa) without any imports.
Note that however if the package clauses in a_test.go and b_test.go do not match (e.g. a_test.go uses package a and b_test.go uses package a_test), then they will belong to different test packages and then you can't use identifiers declared in one another.

Compiling C++Builder project on command line

Is there a way to compile a C++Builder project (a specific build configuration) from the command line?
Something like:
CommandToBuild ProjectNameToBuild BuildConfiguration ...
There are different ways for automating your builds in C++Builder (as of my experience, I'm speaking about old C++Builder versions like 5 and 6).
You can manually call compilers - bcc32.exe (also dcc32.exe, brcc32.exe and tasm32.exe if you have to compile Delphi units, resource files or assembly language lines of code in your sources) and linker - ilink32.exe.
In this case, you will need to manually provide the necessary input files, paths, and keys as arguments for each stage of compilation and linking.
All data necessary for compilation and linking is stored in project files and, hopefully there are special utilities, included in the C++Builder installation, which can automate this dirty work, provide necessary parameters to compilers and linker and run them. Their names are bpr2mak.exe and make.exe.
First you have to run bpr2mak.exe, passing your project *.bpr or *.bpk file as a parameter and then you will get a special *.mak file as output, which you can use to feed on make.exe, which finally will build your project.
Look at this simple cmd script:
#bpr2mak.exe YourProject.bpr
#ren YourProject.mak makefile
#make.exe
You can provide the real name of "YourProject.mak" as a parameter to make.exe, but the most straightforward way is to rename the *.mak file to "makefile", and then make.exe will find it.
To have different build options, you can do the following:
The first way: you can open your project in the IDE, edit options and save it with a different project name in the same folder (usually there are two project files for debug and release compile options). Then you can provide your building script with different *.bpr files. This way, it looks simple, because it doesn't involves scripting, but the user will have to manually maintain coherency of all project files if something changes (forms or units added and so on).
The second way is to make a script which edits the project file or make file. You will have to parse files, find compiler and linker related lines and put in the necessary keys. You can do it even in a cmd script, but surely a specialised scripting language like Python is preferable.
Use:
msbuild project.cbproj /p:config=[build configuration]

A little detail not mentioned.
Suppose you have external dependencies and that the .dll file does not initially exist in your folder
You will need to include the external dependencies in the ILINK32.CFG file.
This file is usually in the folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Borland\CBuilder6\Bin\ilink32.cfg
(consider your installation location)
In this file, place the note for your dependencies.
Example: A dependency for TeeChart, would look like this (consider the last parameter):
-L"C:\Program Files (x86)\Borland\CBuilder6\lib";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Borland\CBuilder6\lib\obj";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Borland\CBuilder6\lib\release";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steema Software\TeeChart 805 for Builder 6\Builder6\Include\";"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steema Software\TeeChart 805 for Builder 6\Builder6\Lib\"
You will also need to include the -f command to compile.
In cmd, do:
//first generate the file.mak
1 - bpr2mak.exe MyProject.bpr
//then compile the .mak
2 - make.exe -f MyProject.mak
You can also generate a temporary mak file with another name, as the answer above says, directly with bpr2mak
