How can I solve the problem with Sumo in line launchconfig in omnet.ini? - c++

I unpacked OMNeT++ 5.0 and in configure.user I have set:
prefer-clang=no
or
prefer -clang =yes
and execute ./configure and then make, the output gcc-release, gcc-debug.
My microsoft visual studio version is MS 2008. Do I must install VS in higher version for example 2010 or high or change OMNeT++ version? My simulation files don't give errors when I am executing build for my project, but when I arrive to my simulation sumo interface and choose one section from my simulation, it gives the following message that belongs xml files
:
<!> Error in module (Veins::TraCIScenarioManagerLaunchd) VANET.manager (id=6) during network setup: While evaluating parameter launchConfig': Error reading F:/omnetpp-5.0/UV-CAST-protocol/simulations/_maps/downtownorlando/downtownorlando50_1.launchd.xml': Parse error: failed to load external entity "F:/omnetpp-5.0/UV-CAST-protocol/simulations/_maps/downtownorlando/downtownorlando50_1.launchd.xml"
at line (null):0
My veins is veins 4.4, my sumo is sumo 0.25.
This line in omnet.ini file is
*.manager.launchConfig = xmldoc("F:/omnetpp-5.0/UV-CAST-protocol/simulations/_maps/downtownorlando/downtownorlando"+ string(${Traffic=50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300})+ "_" + string(${repetition}) + ".launchd.xml")
Note.
I unpacked OMNeT++ 5.6.2 and modify configure.user:
prefer-clang=no
and execute ./configure and then make ...the output gcc-release, gcc-debug, but
prefer-clang=yes
...the output clang-release,clang-debug
My microsoft visual studio version is 2008. I can't execute the simulation in OMNeT++ 5.6.2 and veins 5.2 because I work in veins 4.4.

If you are using OMNeT++ for Windows, you do not need Microsoft Visual Studio at all. The package for Windows contains already all necessary tools including compilators.
Make sure that all files pointed in the parameter launchConfig exist.
Could you edit your question and present one of the files from the above mentioned parameter, for example F:/omnetpp-5.0/UV-CAST-protocol/simulations/_maps/downtownorlando/downtownorlando50_0.launchd.xml?

Build CEF on Windows 10

The compilation of the CEF in Windows 10 until now has been a week of work and various remediation. Now it seems that I am at the last steps of the compilation but I have a problem not yet solved, Ninja fails at

Does anyone know what it can be?
Thank you very much kind regards
I was finally able to compile CEF with .mp4 support for the chosen version v75. I share with you all the steps necessary to compile in the windows environment.
What's Required for branch 3770 --> Chromium Version v 75.
Win 7+, VS2017 15.7.1+, Win 10.0.17763 SDK, Ninja, at least 8GB of RAM and 40GB of free disk space. Need particular attention to the SDK version, installed it separately and not with Visual Studio, moreover it must necessarily be the one indicated, if there are later versions uninstall them completely.
Install the required Visual Studio sub-components by passing the following arguments to the Visual Studio installer:
$ PATH_TO_INSTALLER.EXE ^
--add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Workload.NativeDesktop ^
--add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Component.VC.ATLMFC ^
--includeRecommended
See https://bitbucket.org/chromiumembedded/cef/wiki/BranchesAndBuilding.md#markdown-header-current-release-branches-supported.
For Download and correct build step by step see:https://bitbucket.org/chromiumembedded/cef/wiki/MasterBuildQuickStart
This procedure as it is only the download of the Master proceeds,
If you want to compile a specific branch, compile the path where to download it and modify the update.bat file accordingly.
Set all necessary enviroment variable and restart the PC before all:
Variable CEF_USE_GN value CEF_USE_GN=1
Variable GN_DEFINES value Set GN_DEFINES=proprietary_codecs=1 ffmpeg_branding=Chrome
Variable Path add value of C:\code\depot_tools your path for folder depot_tools.
Variable DEPOT_TOOLS_WIN_TOOLCHAIN valore DEPOT_TOOLS_WIN_TOOLCHAIN=0.
For example for the 3770 branch
build the path C: \ code \ chromium_git3770
and write in update.bat like:
set CEF_USE_GN=1
set GN_DEFINES=is_official_build=true proprietary_codecs=true ffmpeg_branding=Chrome
set GN_ARGUMENTS=--ide=vs2017 --sln=cef --filters=//cef/*
python ..\automate\automate-git.py --download-dir=C:\code\chromium_git3770 --depot-tools-dir=C:\code\depot_tools --branch=3770 --no-distrib --no-build
and the Create.bat like:
set CEF_USE_GN=1
set GN_DEFINES=is_official_build=true proprietary_codecs=true ffmpeg_branding=Chrome
set GN_ARGUMENTS=--ide=vs2017 --sln=cef --filters=//cef/*
call cef_create_projects.bat
Resolve error:

[UE4 error]The project could not be compiled. Would you like to open it in Visual Studio?

I saw many many people ask this question and apparently there is no absolute answer to this question.
this happened for me when I uninstall my visual studio 2015 cause unreal 4.18 no matter I do use VS 2015 and I want to use 2017 and I saw some people solve this problem with uninstalling VS 2015.
when I uninstall VS 2015 receive this error when I want to create a new C++ project:

I thought if I install unreal 4.19 its maybe get fixed but it didn't.
it seens ue4 genrate C++ files for VS 2015.

I hope there is anyone known how to solve this problem and guide me how.
I fix it with downloading this cleaner form this link https://github.com/Microsoft/VisualStudioUninstaller/releases .
after that UE4 when you want to create new project sends a message and it says you don't have VS2017 don't panic just download the installer and modify it after that it downloading about 350 mg and after that, everything will get fixed.

LNK1181 error when compiling V8 engine on Win10

I'm following this guide on building V8 but I am hitting some issues on the compilation step. I am running Windows 10 x64. I am trying to compile with options to embed the engine also.
Running the following command:
ninja -C out.gn/x64.release
Gives me this error:
ninja: Entering directory `out.gn/x64.release'
[1/471] LINK mksnapshot.exe mksnapshot.exe.pdb
FAILED: mksnapshot.exe mksnapshot.exe.pdb

LINK : fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file 'comdlg32.lib'
ninja: build stopped: subcommand failed.
Now I believe I have narrowed down the error to looking for the .lib files in the wrong directory. I have (had) multiple versions installed, so there were multiple folders in my Windows Kit install.
Windows Kits/10/Lib/10.0.16299.0
Windows Kits/10/Lib/10.0.15xxx.0
If I dragged and dropped the comdlg32.lib file from 10.0.16299.0 into the 10.0.15xxx.0 directory then the error changed to a LNK1181 error with a different input file. I did this a few times but I was unsure if this was going to cause issues with different versions and there was probably going to be a lot.
I uninstalled the 10.0.15xxx.0 version which left behind the folder I mentioned, so I removed that and after doing so I have started getting the LNK1181 error with a different input file (advapi32.lib I assume the very first file it can't find). This is how I came to the conclusion about the path being incorrect.
So I have tried a few things to change the path (I hoped just uninstalling the old version would fix it) such as:
Uninstalling the old version.
Going through registry entries to see if I can find an install path or something using that path, which I didn't. I did notice that there was still installation and data in the registry for the 10.0.15xxx.0 install, I might try deleting that from the registry directly as a last resort?
I have tried to explicitly set the path by setting <TargetUniversalCRTVersion>10.0.16299.0</TargetUniversalCRTVersion> in this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\DesignTime\CommonConfiguration\Neutral\uCRT.props
I have never used Ninja before so I tried looking for a way to set some kind of lib-path in the command but couldn't really find anything.
I looked through the python scripts being executed to try and locate something to do with the libs path but couldn't see anything.
I would be grateful for any help and suggestions. Thanks.
You can try to compile v8 using Visual Studio as explained here: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/windows_build_instructions.md#using-the-visual-studio-ide
By running the following commands:
$ gn gen --ide=vs out.gn/x64.release
$ cd out.gn/x64.release
$ msbuild all.sln
You can see a full example here: https://github.com/phpv8/v8js/issues/272#issuecomment-262848754
Apparently this method is not officially supported anymore, but I had the same problem as you have and this solved the issue for me.
Note that after this I had another issue, the unit tests failed to be compiled due to a linking error, but I had the necessary libraries to use v8. So there may be deeper problem that is causing all of this that I'm missing.
Edit:
Also, you could try to set the following parameters with gn args:
visual_studio_path = "..."
visual_studio_version = "2017"
wdk_path = "..."
windows_sdk_path = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10"
To set those parameters, do:
gn args out.gn/x64.release
This will open a text editor where you can write the extra parameters you are interested in.
To see the full list of parameters you can specify:
gn args --list out.gn/x64.release
I was following this guide https://medium.com/dailyjs/how-to-build-v8-on-windows-and-not-go-mad-6347c69aacd4 and also ran into the error
LINK1181: cannot open input file 'advapi32.lib'
I'm pretty sure it was because I had the wrong versions of the Windows 10 SDK. Similar to you I had versions:
Windows Kits/10/Lib/10.0.10240.0
Windows Kits/10/Lib/10.0.16299.0
But according to https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/windows_build_instructions.md#Setting-up-Windows (Which I think is relevant) you need version 10.0.15063.0
After installing version 10.0.15063.0 (with the visual studio installer) to
Windows Kits/10/Lib/10.0.15063.0
I was able to continue with the build.

v8.5 - Error Compiling Parallel Transformer

I would appreciate if i can get some help in solving this issue for which i have been looking for information for over 2 days through various forums. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
I have installed Infosphere Datastage v8.5 on windows environment for testing and have run a couple of jobs, but when i run a job containing a transformer i get compilation error.
Job: Row generator -> Tfx -> Sequential File
Based on my search through various forums i find that Similar issue has been faced by others as well.But i am unable to find a concrete answer regarding the following:
1. A Compiler that i need to install and the related SDK that needs to be installed along with it
2. or A combined pack that has both compiler+SDK
The Installation Guide talks about Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2008 Express Edition C++: but does not mention which is the associated SDK that needs to be installed ?
or is there a newer version of C++ compiler+SDK that will work on my environment
My Environment Details:

This is how i went about fixing it. I hope this helps people facing similar problems and saves some time and effort.
so , here it goes :
I installed Visual Studio C++ 2008 Express Edition.
I then worked around vcvarsall.bat file .if you are wondering why , please check
(
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/x4d2c09s(v=vs.80).aspx )
and
Errors while building/installing C module for Python 2.7
)
I executed the following from the cmd window, to set the 64 bit compiler:
vcvarsall.bat amd64
NOTE: my environment has a X64 AMD chipset windows server;I used echo %PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE% , from cmd window to determine this.
To cross check which compiler is set, execute the following and the output would indicate.
cl.exe
Next , set the following windows system variables:
INCLUDE - C:\IBM\SQLLIB\INCLUDE;C:\IBM\SQLLIB\LIB; C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Include
LIB - C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Lib ;C:\IBM\SQLLIB\LIB
Note:-
The folder path C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A is created by the Visual Studio C++ 2008 Express Edition. This should be the source for folder paths that are set for INCLUDE & LIB
There is a similar path that the SDK creates C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0\ , but Include and Lib folder from this path should not be used to set the above mentioned Windows Environment variables , I made this mistake during my set up :(
for reference please check the Release Note of the SDK that is to be installed.
Set the following Datastage ENV variable,from the Administrator, to values below.
APT_COMPILEOPT : -W/TP -W/EHa -DAPT_USE_ANSI_IOSTREAMS -c -W/Zc:wchar_t-
APT_LINKOPT : -s -W/dll -W/base:0x50000000 -W/Zc:wchar_t-
I then restarted the Datastage services.
.. and the transformers started to work :)
PS : I did not uninstall Information Server nor the SDK (which i initially presumed was the problem)

DOS-reported error: Bad file number

I have a batch file that tries to compile a static library using Borland C++ Builder 6.0
It is called from Borland make (makefile created with bpr2mak) which is called from a .bat file (used to compile the whole project with Visual Studio and some Borland C++ Builder legacy projects), which is called from a bash shell script running inside Cygwin.
When I run the .bat file directly from a Cygwin shell, it runs OK, but when its being run from a Program calling cygwin with Boost::Process::launcher I'm getting this error:
C:\ARQUIV~1\Borland\CBUILD~1\Bin\..\BIN\TLib /u bclibs.lib #MAKE0000.###
DOS-reported error: Bad file number
TLIB 4.5 Copyright (c) 1987, 1999 Inprise Corporation
opening 'MAKE0000.###'
** error 1 ** deleting bclibs.lib
It's a complicated scenario, but this Program which calls cygwin is run whenever we need to build our software package which needs to be build for various Linux distos and Windows 32 and 64-bit.
Note: It's the only Borland Project failing, the other compile just fine (it's the only static library using borland also, so it can be some problem with the TLib tool.
The problem was that TLib does not like to have his output redirected (seen here) without having an input pipe as well. Solved by creating an input pipe to in the Boost::Process::launcher using set_stdin_behavior
I'm just guessing here, but this may have to do with long filenames and/or spaces in paths.
1) Modify your makefile so it would save current environment to a file, immediately before executing the failing command (set > d:\env.txt & echo CD=%CD% >> d:\env.txt). Then run it both ways (directly and via program) and compare the environments of good run and bad run.
2) Using filemon from Sysinternals, capture logs of disk access in both cases (these logs are going to be huge, though you can uncheck everything except Open in the filter to reduce the size). Again, compare and check for clues...
3) Try instaling everything involved to paths conforming to 8.3 scheme.
This error is not related to C++ itself. It happens when your build script opens too much files (more than defined in DOS command processor environment). To resolve this issue try to set value of files variable to 253. For Windows XP this variable defined in the file %WINDIR%\system32\config.nt.
files=253
Seems it is known bug in Borland C++ tools. Here is description and possible workaround for this issue:
Problem: Some static Lib projects will
not link correctly when compiled. You might see something
like this :
J:\Borland\CBUILD~1\bin\..\BIN\TLib /u debug\jpegD.lib #MAKE0000.###
DOS-reported error: Bad file number
TLIB 4.5 Copyright (c) 1987, 1999 Inprise Corporation
opening 'MAKE0000.###'
** error 1 ** deleting debug\jpegD.lib
MAKE failed, returned : 1
Workaround : In some cases (where the "Bad file number" error is seen) it may be possible to work around this by specifying -tDEFLIB.BMK in the BPR2MAKE Options field, and Turning off the "Capture Make Output" option.
I have not tested it, but I hope that helps.
