Import csv file in s3 bucket with semi colon separated fields - amazon-web-services

I am using AWS Data Pipelines to copy SQL data to a CSV file in AWS S3. Some of the data has a comma between string quotes, e.g.:
{"id":123455,"user": "some,user" .... }
While importing this CSV data into DynamoDB, it takes the comma as the end of the field value. This way it results in errors, as the data given in the mapping does not match the schema we have provided.
My solution for this is - while copying the data from SQL to an S3 bucket - to separate our CSV fields with a ; (semicolon). In that way values within the quotes will be taken as one. And the data would look like (note the blank space within the quote string after the comma):
{"id" : 12345; "user": "some, user";....}
My stack looks like this:

Is there any way I can use a delimiter to separate fields with a ; (semicolon)?

Athena removing delimiter in output CSV files

I'm using Athena to write some gzip files to S3.
Query

The table is just 2 columns, but when I create this table and check the external_location, the files are missing the comma delimiter between the data. How can I ensure the CSVs it writes to S3 keep the commas?
You can add a field_delimiter to the WITH expression.
From the AWS docs:
Optional and specific to text-based data storage formats. The single-character field delimiter for files in CSV, TSV, and text files. For example, WITH (field_delimiter = ','). Currently, multicharacter field delimiters are not supported for CTAS queries. If you don't specify a field delimiter, \001 is used by default.

How can I correct AWS Glue Crawler/Data Catalog inferring all fields in CSV as strings when they're clearly not?

I have a big CSV text file uploaded weekly to an S3 path partitioned by upload date (maybe not important). The schema of these files are all the same, the formatting is all the same, the naming conventions are all the same. Each file contains ~100 columns and ~1M rows of mixed text/numeric types. The raw data looks like this:

The problem at this level seems to be with proper detection (read: ignoring) of commas as delimiters within quotation marks. So I have a CSV classifier with the following characteristics that I have attached to the Crawler, I run the Crawler again with the classifier attached, and the resulting table properties are thus:

The expected automatic inference of data types is supposed to be this (let's simplify and presume the date is correct as a string):

I need this data to be accurately queryable from Athena as it is, where it is, so what can I do without further processing of the raw data? I suppose I could manually adjust the table properties in the Console but is that really correct when I need the entire pipeline to be automated? I also want to avoid having to cast types in queries 80+ times for each field as most of these columns are numeric. What can I do?

The limitation arrives from the serde that you are using in your query. Refer to note section in this doc which has below explanation :
When you use Athena with OpenCSVSerDe, the SerDe converts all column types to STRING. Next, the parser in Athena parses the values from STRING into actual types based on what it finds. For example, it parses the values into BOOLEAN, BIGINT, INT, and DOUBLE data types when it can discern them. If the values are in TIMESTAMP in the UNIX format, Athena parses them as TIMESTAMP. If the values are in TIMESTAMP in Hive format, Athena parses them as INT. DATE type values are also parsed as INT.
For date type to be detected it has to be in UNIX numeric format, such as 1562112000 according to the doc.

You may be able to use a regex serde to parse your files. It depends on the shape of your data. You only provide a single line so this assumes that every line in your data files look the same.

You should be able to do something like the following:

Each capture group in the regex will map to a column, in order.
Since I don't have access to your data I can't test the regex, unfortunately, so there may be errors in it. Hopefully this example is enough to get you started.
First, make sure your data format uses tab spacing between columns because your sample doesn't seem to have a consistent separator.

As per AWS documentation, use the LazySimpleSerDe for CSV, TSV, and Custom-Delimited Files if your data does not include values enclosed in quotes. You don't need to make it complicated using Regex.

As LazySimpleSerDe is the default used by AWS Athena, you don't even need to declare it, see the create table statement for your data sample:

Issue getting while inserting data having special chars like \ \n " ' from s3 to redshift from springboot project using COPY command

We have java based ETL application developed using spring boot, in the pipeline , we get data from downstream (calling another application endpoint) we transform data from the input file (csv) and copy the transformed output file to s3 and we are inserting data from s3 to redshift using COPY command like this:

We have in data some special characters like \n \ " ' with in the data and we want these characters to be inserted in the table along with data. Because of these characters records are dropped or rejected and going to stl_load_errs table. Note that these fields are varchar in the table. Can any one please help with how to make sure we inserted data along with these characters.
tried with options in COPY command like ACCEPTINVCHARS , ESCAPE , REMOVEQUOTES but no luck the records are still rejected.

Amazon Athena : How to store results after querying with skipping column headers?

I ran a simple query using Athena dashboard on data of format csv.The result was a csv with column headers.
When storing the results,Athena stores with the column headers in s3.How can i skip storing header column names,as i have to make new table from the results and it is repetitive
Try "skip.header.line.count"="1", This feature has been available on AWS Athena since 2018-01-19, here's a sample:

I found this works! The steps I took:
Run an Athena query, with the output going to Amazon S3
Created a new table pointing to this output based on How do I use the results of my Amazon Athena query in another query?, changing the path to the correct S3 location
Ran a query on the new table with the above WHERE <datefield> NOT LIKE '#%'
However, subsequent queries store even more data in that S3 directory, so it confuses any subsequent executions.
