Recommendations / Experience with Oracle APEX Hosting Providers - oracle-apex

It seems I've outgrown my Oracle Free Tier Account. The quote I received to move into a paid tier was more than the non-profit I work for would be willing to pay, so I'm on the search for another APEX hosting provider.
I've looked at several, and two are at the top of my list: apexhostingservices.com and maxapex.com
Does anybody have experience with either of these companies, and would you recommend them?
Are there other hosting providers out there that you would recommend instead of these two?
Thank you!

I've been using Revion for a few months now. A variety of options, snappy, responsive service - I'm happy.

Does lightsail instance also includes dbms?

I am implementing a very basic dynamic website for a school, where a parent will be able to see the fee due and child's attendance. This service will have on average 30 users per day.
I am exploring different platforms which are cost effective and easy to develop.
Does AWS Lightsail includes dbms(relational or nosql) or I will have to use an RDS instance as well(that will hike the price).
yes, you can check this blog from AWS.
Managed Databases
Today we are making Lightsail even more useful by giving you the
ability to create a managed database with a couple of clicks. This has
been one of our top customer requests and I am happy to be able to
share this news.
This feature is going to be of interest to a very wide range of
current and future Lightsail users, including students, independent
developers, entrepreneurs, and IT managers. We’ve addressed the most
common and complex issues that arise when setting up and running a
database. As you will soon see, we have simplified and fine-tuned the
process of choosing, launching, securing, accessing, monitoring, and
maintaining a database!
But you have few users montly basis as just 30 users as you said, I will suggest to go with LAMP if you are using php
LAMP with PHP 7.x certified by Bitnami greatly simplifies the
development and deployment of PHP applications. It includes the latest
versions of PHP 7.x, Apache and MySQL together with phpMyAdmin and
popular PHP frameworks Zend, Symfony, CodeIgniter, CakePHP, Smarty,
and Laravel.
Or if you are using nodejs then with NoSQL you can try with MEAN stack.
MEAN certified by Bitnami provides a complete production environment
for MongoDB and Node.js applications. It includes the latest stable
release of MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js. Apart from these
core components, it also includes the latest versions of Apache, Git,
PHP and RockMongo.

What is a better mBaaS that supports offline sync and caching?

What is a better mBaaS that supports offline sync and caching?
I am evaluating several mBaaS solutions for my hybrid mobile app under development. I looked at Kinvey, Kii, buddy, and Telerik BackEnd platform. I have also came across some open source solutions like openmobster and dreamfactory. I am looking to store data in sql-lite on mobile app and then sync it back with an online data store. Kinvey has this support, but their pricing model (per user) is not suitable in my scenario. I can see that openmobster does this but, how is what I need to understand? Can I host in on Azure VM or something? Also please suggest if there is any other solution commercial/open source capable of doing offline sync and caching with push notifications and data storage?
DreamFactory could be a good fit for your scenario. It is open source and comes with a full 30 days of free support. After which it's only like $25/month for a developer account - and this isn't even a requirement to use its product. It's specifically a support package.
To address your question a little more in-depth... I don't believe DreamFactory supports offline syncing at the moment, though they plan to very soon. In regards to sql-lite, DreamFactory's (DSP) product has a built in sql-lite driver to connect to that DB. However, it hasn't been tested enough for them to say it is a fully supported RDBMS. One of the beautiful things about DreamFactory is you're able to host the DSP (DreamFactory Service Platform) on Azure and Amazon EC2 instances (cloud solutions), host locally on your own server, or even use its own free hosted edition!
I would definitely take a little time to look into DF. It doesn't seem to me like you have much to lose. Especially, considering it's a free open-source product!
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about DreamFactory!

Searching for a live stock trade web service

I'm searching for a reliable trading company which exposes a web service for live trade.
Basically I'm interested in:
opening an account (you know, minimum everything for a start - minimum account value
for opening, minimum commissions, etc.) and getting credentials.
Through the web service, provide my credentials and connecting to the server.
Through the web service executing trade operations (mainly buy/sell level 1 stocks under
NASDAQ/NYSE).
Does anyone familiar with such a service and can recommend it?
Cheers
There are a bunch of online brokers that meet the criteria you shared in your comment. An example of a widely used API by retail traders is Interactive Brokers. You can also take a look at Trading Technologies which is more sophisticated in my opinion and have better support. Then there is also TD AmeriTrade. You can also use standard market protocols like FIX to write an execution connector through a FIX Engine. Many brokers support FIX, an example is Goldman Sach's electronic trading platform.
Secondly, from your comment it seems like you are sort of in the testing phase. I encourage you to take a look at some retail trading platforms that are not brokers perse, but allow you to connect to multiple brokers and data feeds. Take a look at NinjaTrader, OpenQuant to name a couple.

AWS and Railo setup

I wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction in regards to installing Railo on AWS.
In my spare time I've put together a website to sell illustrations, but due to cost I'm unable to keep on spending money hosting it on a dedicate CF server with almost zero budget for marketing. I've been toying with the idea of setting up an account with Amazon and installing Railo.
Over the past few months I've had different advice, such as get a S3 account to host the images and an EC2 account for Railo for the website and DB with SSL, or just have S3 account where I will be able to host Railo and have my images on the same server. I'm not sure what is best and I was wondering if you can advise what you think a good solution would be.
I've read a few blogs some with good details on setups but they seem to be over a year+ old, so I'm not sure if they are valid solution any more. It's very much over my head, as I'm a developer, but I'm very eager to learn new things especially about the cloud service as it's not a common area to get involved in when working for companies. In the past I used to tag a long to server rooms and understand the infrastructure but now everything is done remotely and it's not so easy to get involved.
Any basic advice/advanced advice from your experiences of what I should follow and if you know of any good resources would be very much appreciated.
Should I get an S3 and EC2 AWS setup or will one of them do (will need DB connectivity)?
Load balancing two EC2 instances will that be hard to configure, I will need to web servers.
I just posted this very topic a few weeks ago. Should still be more than up to date:

microsoft shared point like web site

My friend asked me if it is possible to build a web site like Microsoft shared point for his planning startup company. He want to share doc with his employees. I think the reason he asked is Microsoft is too expensive. I have no idea right now for this. Anybody knows anything about this? thanks,
EDIT:
Because docs shared are sensitive (contains SSN and other sensitive data), security should be good enough.
If he just wants to share file he could try Box.net or dropbox. Box.net also have simple workflows with tasks.
I use Google Docs quite often and it is very useful. You can also setup a wiki and attach docs as needed.
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation is free and comes with a host of features.
Tell your friend to sign up for Microsoft BizSpark. This is a free program from Microsoft specifically for startups and will give them access to a whole suite of software for free for 3 years (with a $100 charge at the end). This includes SharePoint.
I would recommend a combination of Google Sites and Google Docs. It's free, it's easy, and it eliminates the need to maintain the hardware and other infrastructure associated with a site, much less something as heavy-weight as Sharepoint.
