I am trying to create a multipart/form-data request in postman as below
However, while sending this request, I could see postman showing undefined for the fileToUpload
Any help on this issue is much appreciated.
In my case it is showing undefined when I'm attaching a file to the multipart but the file is sent successfully.
I checked it because I used a mock endpoint to inspect the request payload being sent.
You can use any similar tool to check it:
HttpToolkit (what I used)
Requestbin
Wireshark
Or any network sniffer.

I have a problem with sending files to some API. When I do it via my server some pdf files send correctly but some not. But when I send the same pdf via POSTMAN everything works just fine. I am not sure what is the reason (probably POSTMAN encodes it into base64 but from my server, I send it in binary - just a guess). Is there a way to get the sent request file content from postman so that I can imitate it and compare with the request on my server?
Hi everyone I am new using WSO2 ESB, here is the issue I made a integration project to learn but I have not been able to read the body of my request when I try I see this warning "Json Payload is empty"
enter image description here
Here is how I am trying to read the body <filter regex="[1-9]" source="json-eval($.test)">
enter image description here
And finally here is my request, I already set the header application/json
enter image description here
If anyone could help me, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance
The request needs to be a POST to see the payload hit the ESB.
With GET it will just do a GET request without it.
Technically you can do GET with body but it's not a very common scenario.[1]
[1]https://docs.wso2.com/display/EI611/Unusual+Scenarios+for+HTTP+Methods+in+REST#UnusualScenariosforHTTPMethodsinREST-UsingGETwithaBody
That is because the GET method in wso2 does not allow the body payload. You can read in wso2 documentation:
Typically, a GET request does not contain a body, and the ESB profile does not support these types of requests. When it receives a GET request that contains a body, it drops the message body (...)
From doc: Using GET with a Body
Additional it is not good practice to do that, refer to this question: HTTP GET with request body
So you should use POST request.
I am getting familiar with both Postman and SoapUI. I already have a doubt. When I make a GET call with from the postman-echo service, I get slightly different responses shown to me in Postman and in SoapUI.
In particular, in Postman I get
"postman-token": "1ef2b330-3a46-4681-a304-d72f020cb194"
This field-value pair is not shown by SoapUI.
Can anyone explain me the apparent difference?
The parameter postman-token being added while you send a request from Postman. So, it's a custom parameter, you cannot expect it to be present with other tools.
If you check Postman doc of General settings They have explained what is that param is for:
This is primarily used to bypass a bug in Chrome. If an XmlHttpRequest
is pending and another request is sent with the same parameters then
Chrome returns the same response for both of them. Sending a random
token avoids this issue. This can also help you distinguish between
request on the server side.
You can disable it from Postman settings. Goto Settings > General > Send Postman Token header.
Using Postman, when I make a PUT request to an endpoint which returns a 204 with content, Postman is unable to parse the response, and my collection runner stops that iteration, indicating that an error has occurred.
When run outside of the runner, Postman displays the following:
Other people have also had this problem
Unfortunately I cannot fix the non-standard endpoint. Is there a workaround that will let Postman continue without throwing an error, especially when using the collection runner?
The 204 (204 NO CONTENT) response from the server means that the server processed your request successfully and a response is not needed.
More here: https://httpstatuses.com/204
Actually as much as I know, if the server is sending a 204 with a payload response, the endpoint is not developed as it should.
This would be the main reason Postman is not showing a response payload. You will only be able to read response headers.
So if you send a PUT request, and only receive headers, it means everything is ok. If you spect data the server should be responding with a 200 code.
Now, said this, if postman is telling you that “it could not get any response” it means basically the server is not responding any thing. Now try to increase the timeout in the postman settings. It’s very probable that the server is taking to much time. Check outside the runner how much time it’s taking to response.
I hope this helps you.
I'm writing a program to log into a game a get some information from the account.
After making a post request with username and password, I make a get request in the same location in order to download the needed html source.
However, doing qDebug()<<QString(reply->readAll());
prints "\u001F?\b" ,instead of the entire source code of the page.
The get reply has status code 200, and the error() function returns NetworkError(NoError).
For the post and get requests I'm using header information obtained from chrome's network tab in developer options combined with cookies obtained from previous response headers.
I'm doing a get request after the log-in post request because that's what seems to happen in the actual webpage, as displayed in developer options.
The response might be gzipped. Does unzipping happen to yield the expected result?
