I am working with a set of data called Response time and it is currently in the format of hh:mm:ss but the field is a text field in Power BI Power Query Editor. I am trying to convert it to straight time so I can get an average from it but I keep getting errors due to many of the times being higher than 24 hours. I have results of like 37:50:00 and 40:00:00 and those error out while times like 22:24:00 work fine but it is converted to the actual time on a clock.
How do I keep the design of the data but get it into a Time data type so that I can pull an average?

I'm a newbie to PowerBI and I'd want to convert the decimal time/date column values into hours of the time to plot the info over a 24-hour timeline. I was able to achieve this in tableau and as it automatically detects the hours and can easily be able to plot the info. I was a bit close in achieving this in powerBI as I converted the date/time column to time and tried plotting but there's huge noise and looks more cluttered as it took every change in seconds/minutes (the bottom snippet). I've attached the snippets for reference, can anyone pls try to help me on this ?
In Power BI it's recommended to split the DateTime column into separate Date and Time columns. This is both for performance reasons. Over a year a DateTime column with 1sec granularity can have 30M different values, which is much more data than storing one column with 365 values, and one with 86,400 values. And so that your Date column can link to a Date Dimension to provide other DateTime hierarchy attributes, like FiscalQuarter, DayOfWeek, etc.
In Power Query select the DateTime column and go to --> Add Column --> Time -- > Time Only. Then change the data type of the DateTime column to Date.
This also solves your reporting problem as you can simply put the Time column on the X axis.
If you want a custom format string for the time you can add a calculated column in Power Query like
= Table.AddColumn(#"Changed Type1", "TimeDesc", each DateTime.ToText(#date(2020,1,1)&[Time], [Format="h tt"]))
And configure the new column with a "Sort by Column" of Time.
I have a PBI desktop dashboard I've created to pull machine data from a local SQL server. I'm using a relative date time filter on one of the pages to drill down data for live feed, however anything under 5 hours of the relative time, the data goes blank.
I use 4 log tables for the raw data, each having their own time stamp for each instance. Each are related using a ID table with other general information contained. In addition, time is related using a calculated table to create a timeframe of all instances:

As you can see from the top right of the images, not even the times are pulled to the page. Is there a limitation to PBI on the relative time function? This wouldn't make sense to me if there is a "minutes" option under relative time. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
For those looking in the future, unfortunately PowerBI desktop, along with service, appears to only like to work in the UTC time zone. So the relative date/time was filtering based on the UTC time zone, not my time zone (EST). In order to resolve this, I had to create a new calculated column next to my distinct time stamps to correct for the time zone. I then used the adjusted time for the relative time filtering, but the charts remained under the original time stamps.

Probably because your filter on Date Table doesn't reach the destined table. Normally filter moves from one side to many side, then one side to many side in a chain of relationships; but
In your case for example:
Filter goes from Date Table to Log Reject then It can't move to RejectDefinitions because of the filter direction. You have 2 options here:
1) Change the model relationships : Make Log Reject(One side) and RejectDefinitions(Many side) if It is possible.
OR
2) Set the filter direction as Both in the model.
You need to do this for all the remaining log tables(LogFault-FaultDefinitions,Logstate-StateDefinitions)

I am currently trying to calculate due by dates in a table by adding the sla time to the time the request was created. From what I am able to understand, the way to go around this is to create a table with the work days and hours and query that table to find the due date. However, redshift does not allow one to declare variables. I was wondering how I would go around creating a work hour table in redshift and if that is not possible, how I would calculate the due date by other means. Thanks!
It appears that you would like to provide a timestamp and then calculate the timestamp that is 'n work hours later', most probably taking into account certain rules such as:
Weekdays: 9am-5pm
Weekends: No Hours
Holidays: Occasional weekdays with No Hours
This could be done by Creating a scalar Python UDF - Amazon Redshift that would be passed a 'start' timestamp and a number of hours, and would return the 'end' timestamp.
Please note that Scalar UDFs cannot access tables or 'call outside' of Redshift, so it would need to be self-contained.
There is code on the web that shows How to find the number of hours between two dates excluding weekends and certain holidays in Python? BusinessHours package - Stack Overflow. You would need to modify such code to specify the duration rather than finding the duration.
The alternate method of "creating a work hour table" would work well when trying to find the number of work hours between two timestamps but would be a bit harder when trying to add workhours to a timestamp.
I would like to add an incremental refresh to our OrderHeader table.
This table is based on oracle and has as date as a number in the format 'CYYDDD'.
For Instance, the 01.01.2020 is in this format converted as '120001'.
That means that I have to convert this date format into a regular date/time format, to operate an incremental refresh in Power BI, right?
For now I have used this function to convert the number into a date:
#date(1900+Number.IntegerDivide([Date], 1000),1,1)+#duration(Number.Mod([Date], 1000)-1,0,0,0)
But since this function will break the query folding, there is no chance for an incremental refresh, right?
Does someone have any ideas, tips or any approach?
I am getting data from an excel file which include a column which shows duration as mm:ss:ms
But when I import the data to Power BI Desktop with Power Query, it converts this column to date/time format.
I don't know how can I solve this issue.
Any idea?

and already tried to change the source column type from the excel to general.
PowerBI does not currently support milliseconds in date time datatype. You can convert the excel doc to general, load it into PowerBI, and multiply the value by 86400 to get the total number of seconds. Otherwise you'll need to bring it in as a string and do string manipulations to pull out the information you want.
