NavigationLink dismisses after TextField changes - swiftui

I have a navigation stack that's not quite working as desired.
From my main view, I want to switch over to a list view which for the sake of this example represents an array of strings.
I want to then navigate to a detail view, where I want to be able to change the value of the selected string.
I have 2 issues with below code:
on the very first keystroke within the TextField, the detail view is being dismissed
the value itself is not being changed
Also, I suppose there must be a more convenient way to do the binding in the detail view ...

You're changing the NavigationLink's selection from inside the NavigationLink which forces the TestListView to reload.
You can try the following instead:

How to dismiss a Sheet and open a NavigationLink in a new View?

I have a View with a search button in the toolbar. The search button presents a sheet to the user and when he clicks on a result I would like the sheet to be dismissed and a detailView to be opened rather than navigating to the detailView from inside the sheet. The dismiss part is easy, but how do I open the detailView in the NavigationStack relative to the original View that presented the Sheet?
I'm also getting an error on the navigationStack initialization.

It can be a little tricky, but I'd suggest using a combination of Apple's documentation on "Control a presentation link programmatically" and shared state. To achieve the shared state, I passed a shared view model into the sheet.

I remember that in iOS14, this code works well.
How to resolve this?
Adding .isDetailLink(false) to the top level NavigationLink seems to solve the issue. Note that this works on iPhone iOS -- for iPad, you will need to use a StackNavigationStyle as #workingdog suggests in their answer.
The documentation is not clear on why this works (in fact, it refers specifically to multi-column navigation), but it seems to solve a number of NavigationLink-related issues. See, for example: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/667460

If your "source of truth" is an array of some "model instances", and you just need to read values, you can pass those instance around like before:

You need to pass the EnvironmentObject only if some views are able to manipulate the data inside the instances... in this case you can easily update the EnvironmentObject's status and everything will auto-magically updated everywhere!
The code below shows a basic App with "list", "detail" and "add", so you can see 'environment' in action (the only caveat is that you have to manually tap < Back after tapped the Save button). Try it and you'll see the list that will magically update.

Trigger Navigation from Context Menu in SwiftUI

I have a List that contains NavigationLink inside a NavigationView.
I know want to extend the view with a ContextMenu that contains an element that shows another view inside my navigation stack.

The navigation for a normal tap on my item works fine. The context menu however stopped working in Xcode 11 Beta 5. I get the following error: `[WindowServer] display_timer_callback: unexpected state.
How would I push a new view on my navigation stack from a context menu?
One approach is to use NavigationLink(destination: Destination, isActive: Binding<Bool>, #ViewBuilder label: () -> Label), the label as an EmptyView hidden inside a ZStack. You would then select the element to navigate to and toggling the NavigationLink inside the contextMenu. Here is a full example:

Save selected item in List

This looks like a very simple thing, but I can't figure out how to do this:
I have a List embedded in a NavigationView, containing a NavigationLink to view the detail of the item.
I have a save bar button where I would like to save the selected item. But how can I access the selected item?
It isn't visible in the button's action closure.
