When creating an AWS Lightsail instance with the Wordpress Multisite preset,
upon visiting the public ip it shows up as expected.
However, as soon as I attach a static ip to it and try to visit it in the browser,
it keeps loading infinitely.
Why is that?
My firewall settings are at the default value, so I have port 22, 80, and 443 open.
Thanks!
Have you created a DNS Zone for your lightsail server, to point at the IP you attached to the instance?
You may then need to set the primary domain for your wordpress multisite
If that doesn't work, mine took about 20 minutes to propagate the DNS zone, but I suppose it could take longer.
In order to complete the Static IP allocation for WP Multisite, connect to your instance using the SSH prompt an type in the following command:
sudo /opt/bitnami/configure_app_domain --domain <StaticIP>

I'm facing an issue with my ec2 instance. Until now, I had an ec2 instance working with an IP like this: ec2-xx-xxx-xxx-xxx.compute-1.amazonaws.com.
Now I configured an elastic IP to make that instead of use the default domain uses one of my own.
Something goes wrong because now a receive a 403 if I make a request pointing to my new domain.
I'm check that I'm still able to connect to my Ubuntu server 20.04 LTS through SSH. Only have to change the host name to my new domain.(I'm using PuTTy)
Searching on internet if found that the problem can be that my machine still have the old domain in some config files. I don't have experience with Ubuntu servers. I try to find the http.conf file or the apache2 directory in etc., but no one is present.....
I don't know what to do next.
I have to change some configuration file? In that case, which one?
I leave you some images from my machine:
Root
etc folder
For further information, the security group of my ec2 instance have these rules:
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
-EDIT
I'm trying to access the server, making a request, with Postman like this.
And that is the error:
For more information. I implemented my ec2 using this video:ec2 video
And I changed the domain with that video:link ec2 with namecheap domain
I'm afraid it is a propagation issue, that takes more time than the 48 hours, because now it starts to works without changing absolutely nothing. Sorry
It appears that your requirement is to point bochogame.com to an Elastic IP address.
You can do this by using a DNS Service, such as Amazon Route 53. You would create a A-Record record that points that domain name to the IP address.
If you are unfamiliar with these concepts, I recommend watching some YouTube videos such as DNS with AWS Route 53 - YouTube.
I followed all the steps given on the tutorial page of AWS to create a subdomain(https://aws.amazon.com/es/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/create-subdomain-route-53/) and I'm pretty sure I got everything right because the tutorial is pretty straight forward. For context, before this I setup a LAMP stack on the server linked with my main domain (example.com).
My question is how to upload and manage files on my subdomain (subdomain.example.com). I thought that all I needed to do was to create a new EC2 instance and link it with the "hosted zone" of my subdomain, and after that I could just upload files and it would work (like I did on my original instance of the main domain). But after many tries clearly I'm doing something wrong, because the page of my subdomain (subdomain.example.com) keeps appearing blank with just the text "This site can't be reached."
You say that you installed a LAMP stack on the instance, so presumably there is a web server listening on port 80.
To test this, first login to the instance via SSH, then try curl localhost to test the web server. If that fails, then there is a problem with your web server.
If it works, the you should check the Security Group associated with the Amazon EC2 instance. It should be allowing incoming traffic on port 80 from 0.0.0.0/0.
Next, obtain the Public IP address of the instance. In a browser on your own computer, try accessing the IP address, eg http://1.2.3.4. That should work if the Security Group has been correctly configured.
By the way, you should be using an Elastic IP address (EIP) for the EC2 instance, which is a 'static' IP address that does not change. You can create an EIP in the EC2 management console, then associate it with the instance. This prevents the Public IP address from changing if the instance is stopped.
Next, try accessing the instance via the domain name. If this does not work, then test the name resolution by using ping with your domain name. The Ping itself won't work, but it should display the IP address that is linked to that domain name. Make sure that the IP address matches the Public IP address you used in the previous step.
If no IP address is provided, then you are missing an A-Record in the hosted zone. You should create the A-Record in the hosted zone and provide it with the Public IP address of the instance.
I have been looking for help with this problem, and the answers just say to add inbound rules to the security group. Well, I have done those and I am still unable to access my website from the public DNS (just putting that into the url box and navigating to it). There are multiple port 22 inbound rules for the people accessing my server, and the outbound rule is just "All traffic".
I've had this problem running Wordpress on EC2 instances. Things I'd try:
Access the instance via ssh. Check out https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/AccessingInstancesLinux.html
If you're accessing through ssh, maybe it's because your disk is full. To check this you can run df -h on your Amazon EC2 server.
I tried accessing my newly setup AWS EC2 Instance and I had this same issue, I later realised I was accessing the public DNS via HTTPS which had not been set up. when I changed the url to use HTTP it worked. Ensure to configure HTTP in the security group.
please advise me.
I am no developer and very new to this. Our website is down and it keeps showing the following error:
This site can’t be reached
The connection was reset.
We are using AWS.
It keeps happening every few weeks. I tried redirecting it on AWS to a different website, for the time being, that didn't work either.
Any help is appreciated
If the website is hosted in EC2 instance
Check if your EC2 instance is having the same ip as earlier if it doesn't have a elastic ip associated with it chances are any restart of that ec2 instance might have changed the public ip address.
If above is same as earlier check the security group if it allows traffic on port 80 and 443 ( if using ssl )
And most importantly check if your website is indeed running i.e check with IP address in web browser i.e http://<ip_address>:<port>/ or https://<ip_address>:<port>/
I have set up an AWS EC2 Instance with LAMP stack and installed Wordpress.
My instance was accessible through a browser via its public DNS. I logged into wordpress admin and made some changes and everything was working ok.
I then added an Elastic IP and I now cannot access my site through a browser via its public DNS.
However, the server is fully accessible via SSH.
The public DNS is:
[ec2-52-210-2-56.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com][1]
My security groups are as follows:
80 tcp 0.0.0.0/0
22 tcp 209.93.74.222/32
443 tcp 0.0.0.0/0
I have removed the EIP. That made no difference. I have rebooted and stopped and restarted the instance. That made no difference either.
I am not sure how to fix it?
I had similar problem when i was new to AWS figuring out new things.
What i found out was you need to perform the below steps to redirect your url to correct IP address:
The old site URL and the new site URL for your instance. The old site URL is likely the public DNS name for your EC2 instance when you installed WordPress. The new site URL is the current public DNS name for your EC2 instance. If you are not sure of your old site URL, you can use curl to find it with the following command.
$curl localhost | grep wp-content
You should see references to your old public DNS name in the output, which will look like this (old site URL in red):
<script type='text/javascript' src='http://ec2-52-8-139-223.us-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com/wp-content/themes/twentyfifteen/js/functions.js?ver=20150330'></script>
$ curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/wp-cli/builds/gh-pages/phar/wp-cli.phar
Search and replace the old site URL in your WordPress installation with the following command. Substitute the old and new site URLs for your EC2 instance and the path to your WordPress installation (usually /var/www/html or /var/www/html/blog).
$ php wp-cli.phar search-replace 'old_site_url' 'new_site_url' --path=/path/to/wordpress/installation --skip-columns=guid
Your website will be fixed!!!
Done!
NOTE: But everytime you change the IP you need to change your url to new IP.

I got the issue with Windows EC2 while connecting through HTTP 80 port and followed below link.
If your computer is on a corporate network, ask your network administrator whether the internal firewall allows inbound and outbound traffic from your computer on port 22 (for Linux instances) or port 3389 (for Windows instances).
If you have a firewall on your computer, verify that it allows inbound and outbound traffic from your computer on port 22 (for Linux instances) or port 3389 (for Windows instances).
or follow link: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/TroubleshootingInstancesConnecting.html#TroubleshootingInstancesConnectionTimeout
Check Firewall settings in your Windows EC2: Goto > Firewall Settings or Properties choose public profile > check inbound connections, change to "Allow" if it is "Blocked by default"
