My copy of Inkscape 0.92.2 has been working fine on my Mac OS Mojave system since installation last year. Now, today, for the first time, it pops up a dialog when I open pre-existing files
When I click "OK" the dialog window closes, and so does the image window. (Inkscape does not quit.) I have tried all combinations of choices in the dialog window, with the same result every time.
The Mac Console utility shows a message from Inkscape:
27366555: RECEIVED OUT-OF-SEQUENCE NOTIFICATION: 0 vs 2743, 513 <private>
There are similar messages from the contextstored process, whatever that is.
This does not occur with every old .svg file on my disk. It has been weeks since I used Inkscape at all, and months since I worked with the protesting files.
Does anyone have experience with this? Does Inkscape update itself automatically? Inkscape's date-last-modified on my system is today, but I did not [consciously] update it. And even so, the current downloadable version is 0.92.4 but mine is 0.92.2. I don't want to upgrade unless I have to, as my current Inkscape continues to work for some other mission-critical needs. I discovered that the problem affects images that were originally imported from a .ai file.
As a workaround I downloaded Inkscape 1.0 Beta 2 (for Mac OS) and opened the .ai file with that, then saved as .svg. The.svg saved by 1.0B2 opens without issue in Inkscape 0.92 on Mac OS.
So, the disease remains undiagnosed, but the symptoms can be treated and eradicated. :-)
TLDR
When one of my applications executes _CrtDbgBreak() it just writes a .dmp file and exits. On any other application _CrtDbgBreak() causes the app.exe has stopped working -dialog where I can chose to break into my debugger (VS 2013).
This is my desired behavior.
Background
A few weeks ago I experimented with Windows Error Reporting to find out if/how the WER Dialog could be suppressed. Apparently I succeeded for my application and unfortunately I haven't found the way how to undo this.
In the meantime I have had to deal with a number of other things so that I no longer remember which steps I exactly took at the time. (Should have taken notes, I know.) Since it works for other applications, I am guessing a setting specific to my app needs to be reset.
I turned to the usual suspects on my machine but so far I haven't found anything:

I have even removed all occurrences of my executable's name from my entire registry but this hasn't made any difference. What else am I missing?
One possible reason is your app/exe is added to the WER's exclusion list. See 'ExcludedApplications' at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/wer/wer-settings.

Check registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\ExcludedApplications
If your app/exe name is found there, remove it.

This Debugger message pops up randomly while i am attempting to examine a variable while a breakpoint has hit in Visual Studio 2017.
Shortly thereafter, a larger message box appears that shows the following: "Evaluating the function 'System.Reflection.Assembly.LoadForm' timed out."
After enabling option Tools / Options / Debugging / General / Only managed code, the second message box have disappeared. But first message is still showing.
The problem is that first popup window appears for a relatively long time, that makes debugging process very noncomfortable. What else Visual Studio debugger options could I set to disable this popup?
(1)Tools->Options, uncheck the setting Debugging / General / Enable property evaluation and other implicit function call, and enable the Use Managed Compatibility Mode.
(2)Deleted all the .suo/obj/Bin/.user files in your project, and then re-open your project, clean and build your solution, debug it again.
This solution works fine for me:
Uncheck the new langage JavasScript Language Service in Options -> Editor -> JavaScript -> Language Service.

I'm having this same issue and there doesn't appear to be a solution. It's extremely frustrating because when the "Getting DataTip text..." does popup and eventually goes away, my breakpoints no longer work.
The solutions listed here have not solved the problem, I've tried them ALL ... even a wipe and re-install of OS and VS 2015.
Debugging without ability to do property evaluation and other implicit function calls is basically NOT debugging and defeats the purpose.
Microsoft seem to be aware of the problem but keep closing the tickets as "unable to replicate" ... yet, a simple Google Search will show many many thousands of hits of developers running into this problem. I keep opening tickets with Microsoft, but they just keep getting closed or merged with no solution.

The ONLY solution that worked for me:
CMD window (Run As Admin)
type SFC /SCANNOW and wait for it to complete and hopefully fix any errors
Reboot
Bring up VS 2015 or 2017 without loading any project
In VS select Tools | Import and Export Settings | Reset all Setting ... now pick the template you use (i.e. VB, C, Web)
Exit VS
Load VS project and debug

In my case I got this every time I examined the first variable while debugging.
Annoying as hell as I due to the nature of the work restart the debugger often.
This was cause by that the location where my Visual Studio 2017 files were saved, was a cloud drive and it actually had to sync the files before showing the data.
The solution was to mark that whole folder "Always keep on this device".

Here is one possible solution:
I had this error never seen - then my graphics card (Nvidia) was gone and I removed the graphics card and worked with the integrated Intel. Then I got this error in after 3-4 steps. I installed a Nvidia again and now the "getting data" text message was never shown again.
Btw: this was the fix for the error

I had the same issue when I wanted to evaluate variables while debugging in my Unit tests and couldn't find any solution.
This is the solution that helped me: Tools -> Options / Debugging / General. Uncheck "Call string-conversion function on objects in variables windows".
This might only work for some people.
I'm trying to install the CS50 Appliance in VMWare Player, and it gives me an error saying 'Error converting to virtual machine - Unknown Error'.
It advices me to contact VMWare technical support and provide the log file in 'users/AppData', but there is no folder called App Data. Any advice?
well the folder called AppData is located in your Username directory, it's there, just hidden (because normal users shouldn't mess with anything inside it). You either copy, edit and paste this in a file explorer Window:
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\AppData\
Assuming you installed Windows in C, and running Window 7 up.
Where YourUserName is the name you initially gave your account.
The other way you can do it is: go to start > run > type in "%appdata%" (without quotes) and hit OK. This is a better one.

As for installing CS50, I've never done it before, but did you follow instructions here?

So I keep getting this error when trying to compile C++ code using CodeBlocks.
cannot open output file [filename.exe] permission denied
It only started today, and it's sporadic and inconsistent. It usually goes away if I shut CodeBlocks down and restart the project, but not always. Sometimes it even goes away when I just press F9 (build & run) several times. I always check Task Manager, but there are never any .EXEs running with my file's name, or anything related to it.
I've also noticed that if this problem occurs and I then try to delete the .EXE manually or otherwise interact with it, Windows tells me I need administrator permission to do so (this is a private PC, and as far as I know I am an administrator on it).
The first time it occurred, the only thing I had added to the code beyond what was in the previous version was a debugging report sent to cout - hardly anything arcane. It sometimes occurs even when no code was changed from a previous version.
What could this be? It's not game-breaking, yet, but it's irritating and I'd rather it didn't get worse.
EDIT: This is old by now, but just in case anyone else is having similar problems, the workaround I currently use is just to consistently delete [filename.exe] before trying to run the code again. This avoids the problem, though it is annoying.
check that "filename.exe" is not running, I guess you are using Microsoft Windows, in that case you can use either Task Manager or Process Explorer : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 to kill "filename.exe" before trying to generate it.

If you terminate the console by pressing key, it's ok; if you do it by click the close button, the problem comes as you described. When you terminate it in the latter way, you have to wait several minutes before you can rebuild your code.
I just had the same issue. And i experienced that it always happens when i run the programm and change some code without finishing the programm still running. After that the "cannot open ..." message appears.
However i got rid of it by clicking the "Terminate" button at the very top-right side of the console window (red button) and after that "remove all terminated launches" (two x'es right next to the terminate button).
This seems to close the running programm and everything works fine after :) hope this may help anyone
I was having the same problem too and it was driving me crazy:
Windows7 64 bit, MinGW, Eclipse, CDT
Permission denied errors, executable disappearing, ld.exe errors. It would work once, but never again.
Statements like: "cannot open output file ***.exe: Permission denied"
Check your ANTIVIRUS Software. Once I turned off my Antivirus software in workspace then cleaned the workspace and started the project over again I never had the problem again.
This error usually occurs when the IDE has a problem due to a crash or other failure and it still has a hold on the EXE, preventing the user (yourself) from overwriting / deleting the EXE during a rebuild.

This error arises when you close the console output window using the close icon instead of pressing "any key to continue"
The problem is related to Sam´s response:

Avoid kill processes, and we have two choices, wait until the process release the .EXE file or this problem will be solved faster restarting the IDE.
You can use process explorer from sysinternals to find which process has a file open.
Try restarting your IDE. It worked for me.
Although I tried to end the process in the task manager, the process never got killed.
I re-installed C::B in drive D, whereas my program files folder is in drive C
I don't know the reason , but it works :)
well,once i had the same problem and after tracking down the process that was getting the file in use i discovered that it was the anti-virus (PANDA) ...i just unlocked the file and simply worked out ....well for my experience i used Unlock 1.9.2 ...try iy out ..
A major cause of this (which I had recently), is if you have this on for example a flash drive.
You can develop and do everything, but on most systems it stops you from running the .exe file from there, whether it be the debug or release version.
In my case - I found a process called
cb_console_runner
I stopped this process and things were ok again.
I had the same Problem. Just rename your .CPP file to other name and try it again.
It worked for me.
FOR LINUX OS...
go to file where u r created file.then usually
......project_name/bin/Debug/project_name.executable here for this executable file you wont be having execute permission then the execute permission.Either by right click if you are unable to change permission then use use open terminal(command promt) to change permission.
first go to that executable file using 'cd' command then use "chmod u+x" then permission is going to change.then go to c::b open and execute you will get output.
only thing for all file u need to do it.
The problem is that you don't have the administrator rights to access it as running or compilation of something is being done in the basic C drive. To eliminate this problem, run the devcpp.exe as an administrator. You could also change the permission from properties and allowing access read write modify etc for the system and by the system.
Make sure to run 7zip in 'Administrator mode' for extracting to Program Files.
Also, temporarily turning off virus protection worked for some people in the past.
I tried what #willll said, and it worked. I didint find exactly the .exe named after my project, but I did kill some weird looking tasks (after checking on the internet they were not critical), and it worked.
I have tried and get output after end task IDE from task manager. Later clean all temporary files from your drive. Start your IDE. Now your .exe working good.
