I had configured my bucket with public access to all my objects
But older files is still not public.
If i access my old objects i'm getting access denied.
I have to manually change them to public no other option for me.Currently i have 5000 objects inside my bucket.Manually changing them is not possible
Is there any other thing to change in my bucket configuration from the default one..
You can use aws cli command to achieve that.Use aws s3api put-object-acl.
Description :
uses the acl subresource to set the access control list (ACL)
permissions for an object that already exists in a bucket.
Be aware that the put-object-acl command is for a single object only. In case you want to run it recursively, take a look at this thread.

I followed Tutorial: Using an Amazon S3 trigger to create thumbnail images - AWS Lambda to create a thumbnail for my images.
However, when I try to access the images in bucket-resized I get an Access Denied.
That tutorial does not create 'public' objects.
If you want the resized objects to be public, you would either need to:
Create a Bucket Policy on the 'resized' bucket that grants s3:GetObject access for the bucket (see Bucket policy examples - Granting read-only permission to an anonymous user), OR
When uploading the object, use ACL='public-read', which will make the individual objects public
To make the bucket or objects public, you will also need to disable S3 Block Public Access on the bucket.
check if the thumbnail is generated successfully
check your bucket has public accessibility enabled
check if the generated file thumbnail has public read permission
I have a requirement of accessing S3 bucket on the AWS ParallelCluster nodes. I did explore the s3_read_write_resource option in the ParallelCluster documentation. But, it is not clear as to how we can access the bucket. For example, will it be mounted on the nodes, or will the users be able to access it by default. I did test the latter by trying to access a bucket I declared using the s3_read_write_resource option in the config file, but was not able to access it (aws s3 ls s3://<name-of-the-bucket>).
I did go through this github issue talking about mounting S3 bucket using s3fs. In my experience it is very slow to access the objects using s3fs.
So, my question is,
How can we access the S3 bucket when using s3_read_write_resource option in AWS ParallelCluster config file
These parameters are used in ParallelCluster to include S3 permissions on the instance role that is created for cluster instances. They're mapped into Cloudformation template parameters S3ReadResource and S3ReadWriteResource . And later used in the Cloudformation template. For example, here and here. There's no special way for accessing S3 objects.
To access S3 on one cluster instance, we need to use the aws cli or any SDK . Credentials will be automatically obtained from the instance role using instance metadata service.
Please note that ParallelCluster doesn't grant permissions to list S3 objects.
Retrieving existing objects from S3 bucket defined in s3_read_resource, as well as retrieving and writing objects to S3 bucket defined in s3_read_write_resource should work.
However, "aws s3 ls" or "aws s3 ls s3://name-of-the-bucket" need additional permissions. See https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/s3-access-denied-listobjects-sync/.
I wouldn't use s3fs, as it's not AWS supported, it's been reported to be slow (as you've already noticed), and other reasons.
You might want to check the FSx section. It can create an attach an FSx for Lustre filesystem. It can import/export files to/from S3 natively. We just need to set import_path and export_path on this section.
I have two accounts, A and B. A has a S3 bucket, B has a lambda function which sends a csv to S3 bucket in account A. I am creating these resources using terraform.
After I login to Account A, I am able to see the file added, but not able to Download or Open the file, it says Access Denied. I see the below in the Properties section of the file.
I did not add any encryption to the file or bucket.
By default, an S3 object is owned by the AWS account that uploaded it. This is true even when the bucket is owned by another account. To get access to the object, the object owner must explicitly grant you (the bucket owner) access.
The object owner can grant the bucket owner full control of the object by updating the access control list (ACL) of the object. The object owner can update the ACL either during a put or copy operation, or after the object is added to the bucket.
Please refer to this guide in order to resolve this issue and apply the required permissions.
It also links to a description how to use a bucket policy to ensure that any objects uploaded to your bucket by another account sets the ACL as "bucket-owner-full-control".
I need migrate a couple of buckets between two AWS accounts. This can be possible with the AWS CLI doing a some configurations and a then copy from one S3 to the other. I followed Copy S3 Objects From Another AWS Account and it all worked fine. However, when I reviewed the permissions of the objects, the public access isn't enabled.
Some antecedents:
My source bucket is private but can have public content
My destination bucket have the same configuration of my source bucket
Some files of my source bucket have public access enabled
After migrate my content, the files in my destination bucket with
access public enabled lose this permission
In this moment I need migrate the content to my destination bucket without losing the public access of my objects. I looked for this in the AWS documentation and in other blogs, but I didn't find anything.

You can easily add public access permissions to your copied objects using the --acl param in your sync. From the url that you pasted in your question i am seeing that you used the generic command:
aws s3 sync s3://awsexamplesourcebucket s3://awsexampledestinationbucket
In the above command add the --acl param:
aws s3 sync s3://awsexamplesourcebucket s3://awsexampledestinationbucket --acl 'public-read'
--acl (string) Sets the ACL for the object when the command is performed. If you use this parameter you must have the "s3:PutObjectAcl" permission included in the list of actions for your IAM policy. Only accepts values of private, public-read, public-read-write, authenticated-read, aws-exec-read, bucket-owner-read, bucket-owner-full-control and log-delivery-write.
If some of your objects needs to be public and others not then you need to use the above command in combination with [--include ] and [--exclude ] in order to grant public access to some of your objects and private to others.

How can I change ACL form public to private on the single folder in AWS s3?.
Right now I am using this command

But this will change permissions on all the folders in bucket
There are three ways to grant public access to objects in Amazon S3:
Access Control Lists (ACLs) on an individual object — good for providing one-off access to specific objects
A Bucket Policy on the S3 bucket — good for providing access to a whole bucket or a portion of a bucket
A Policy on an IAM User or IAM Role — good for providing access to specific users
Please note that there are no permissions on folder. In fact, folders do not actually exist in Amazon S3 buckets (even though it might look like they do, they don't!).
All data in Amazon S3 is private by default. So, to answer your question of "How do I change from public to private access", the answer is you should reverse whatever you did to make it public. So, if you granted access via an ACL, then you should remove the public access via the ACL. (By the way, it is not recommended to use ACLs to grant public access. Consider using a Bucket Policy or IAM Policy instead.)
If you wish to change ACLs on existing objects, you can copy the objects on top of themselves, but specify a different ACL. You might need to also specify another field such as metadata to allow the change to take affect.
