Write custom backend logic for visualizing superset graphs - apache-superset

Is there a provision to write custom logics on my data coming from HIVE database and then visualizing the output in superset. My application demands writing some logics with libraries like numby/scipy and then doing some calculations. I am very new to superset.

Ingest RDBMS data to BigQuery

If we have an on-prem sources like SQL-Server and Oracle. Data from it has to be ingested periodically in batch mode in Big Query. What shud be the architecture? Which GCP native services can be used for this? Can Dataflow or DataProc be used?
PS: Our organization haven't licensed any third-party ETL tool so far. Preference is for google native service. Data Fusion is very expensive.
There are two approaches you can take with Apache Beam.
Periodically run a Beam/Dataflow batch job on your database. You could use Beam's JdbcIO connector to read data. After that you can transform your data using Beam transforms (PTransforms) and write to the destination using a Beam sink. In this approach, you are responsible for handling duplicate data (for example, by providing different SQL queries across executions).
Use a Beam/Dataflow pipeline that can read change streams from a database. The simplest approach here might be using one of the available Dataflow templates. For example, see here. You can also develop your own pipeline using Beam's DebeziumIO connector.

Updating all entities of KIND in Google Cloud Datastore

we have a dataset of ~10 million entities or a certain Kind in Datastore. We want to change the products functionality, so we would like to change the fields on all Kind entities.
Is there a smart/quick way to do it, that does not involve iterating over all of the entities in series?
Probably you can use Dataflow to help you with your problem.
Dataflow is a stream and batch data processing service, fully managed by GCP.
It was open sourced in the Apache Beam project. It is fully compatible with this SDK. This allows you to test your developments locally before run them on GCP.
It exposes two main concepts, a PCollection, basically the data that is being handled by the tool, and pipelines, the different steps necessary to capture the data, the transformations that must be performed, and how and where the results obtained should be written.
It provides support for Java, Python and Go, and a rich feature set and variety of possible data sources and transformations.
In the specific case of Datastore, Dataflow provides support for read, write and delete data. See for instance the relevant documentation for Python.

I would presume that you have to loop through each one and update it as it's a NoSQL data store like mongo from what I can see. We have a system that uses SQL and Mongo and the demoralised data is a pain, we had to write migrations that would loop through all and update.

Can Superset visualize data returned from a REST API call?

We are trying to use Apache Superset to visualize business data, some of which is stored in SQL based databases, but some of it (think for example of external weather data) we need to access via public APIs (normally REST, but also sometimes push based microservices like websockets and gRPC).
Can Superset surface data in this way, or is it tied to SQL or SQL-like queries/APIs?
Superset supports any database engine with a DB-API driver and SQLAlchemy dialect (https://superset.apache.org/#databases).
So, in theory, you could wrap your API calls into some custom-developed SQLAlchemy accessible endpoint, but unless you need access to data that's refreshed in real-time, your best bet is probably to ETL the data from these public APIs into some type of reporting data lake.

Using Amazon Redshift for analytics for a Django app with Postgresql as the database

I have a working Django web application that currently uses Postgresql as the database. Moving forward I would like to perform some analytics on the data and also generate reports etc. I would like to make use of Amazon Redshift as the data warehouse for the above goals.
In order to not affect the performance of the existing django web application, I was thinking of writing a NEW Django application that essentially would leverage a READ-ONLY replica of the Postgresql database and continuously write data from read-only replicas to the Amazon Redshift. My thinking is that perhaps the NEW Django application can be used to handle some/all of the Extract, Transform and Load functions
My questions are as follows:
1. Does the Django ORM work well with Amazon Redshift? If yes, how does one handle the model schema translations? Any pointers in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
2. Is there any better alternative to achieve the goals listed above?

Web services over HBase

I am new to the Hadoop environment, sorry if the question is obvious...
I need to develop a web service to record and read large volumes of data. Because of this requirement I thought of using a Hadoop cluster and HBase as my database.
I have designed my hbase schema to satisfy my requirements, so far so good.
The thing is that since it is a service I am developing, I would like the users of the service not to know the internal representation of the data.
I do not want the users to have to invoke a Put to a certain table, for example, to the Clients table, but instead invoke a high-abstraction method, for example, createClient().
How do I add this abstraction layer on top of HBase while maintaining the characteristics of reliable and distributed and the capacity to service lots of users simultaneously offered by HBase itself?

Consider Hbase Stargate to enable a REST server. If you want to obscure the table name in the URI, perhaps proxy Stargate with a web server.
