I'm trying to develop a Dart package for my Flutter project.
It only consists of Dart (so no Flutter) code.
When trying to run my unit tests with Android Studio or IntelliJ I get the following error:
Test framework quit unexpectedly
In the output window I get the following messages:

The whole .pub-cache directory doesn't even exists...
How do I get the testing to work?
I had the error messages:
"Test framework quit unexpectedly" "The flutter SDK is not available"
The problem was that I configure the unit tests as Dart tests.
Solution in InteliJ:
Run > Edit Configurations... > + symbol on the top left > Flutter Test (to use the Flutter template instead of the Dart template)
Test scope: All in Directory and choose your_project/lib folder. This will search for all files named as *_test.dart

I've downloaded the separate Dart SDK en configured Android Studio and IntelliJ to use it instead of the one that ships with Flutter.
Now the tests are working again.

How can I read a file using a relative path when running flutter test?
When running flutter test the File('path/to/file') needs an absolute path but a relative path works when debugging.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Using VS Code, I can run a test by starting debug while in one of the test files. By doing so, the test will pass when using a relative path to read a file. However, when I run flutter test from the terminal, the same test fails because it is unable to find the file unless I change it to use an absolute path in which case the test will pass.
This is the line of code in the test that tries to create a model from the json file:

The fixture function is imported from a different file and implemented as follows:

I'm in the process of upgrading our application from Grails 2.2.4 to 2.3.4 and everything seems to go quite easy. The only thing that is driving me nuts is that I can't run a Tests or a Spec class (or a collection of them) using the JUnit runner within IDEA (both version 12 and 13).
I get this exception:
Class not found: "test.PersonControllerSpec"
Process finished with exit code 1
I can "make" the project successfully and I can run the tests using the Grails runner too.
Seems like IDEA doesn't compile the test code or something like that.
Funnily it works like a charm in STS so it can't come from Grails.

I believe I have discovered the problem. Look at the folder designation type. My IntelliJ12 project file marked the "test root" as "test resources root" and I was not paying close enough attention. Remove the "Mark Directory As" and set as "Test Root". I am now able to run Groovy test cases
Just installed Android Studio to give it a try. I'm trying to create a test module for my application and, whatever the method I use, I always get the following error: "Error: No AndroidManifest.xml file found in the main project directory...".
Methods I use:
1) from Android Studio: New > Module > Test Module
2) from command line: android create test-project -m "main_path" -n "project_name" -p "test_path"
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Edit: As of 0.1.8 this is now supported in the IDE.
According to the documentation for the new build system a separate project is no longer needed, which implies that a separate module may not be either. That said, getting test working within the IDE is still problematic. I've posted an answer here that at least works for running tests from the command line.
I am developing a Wp7-App and I want to start Unit Testing. I used the Template from Visual Studio 2010 to create a Windows Phone 7.1 UnitTest-Project and I added the required Assemblies via Nu-Manager.
I can't start the project in emulator or on a real device. I get a blank loading-screen and this error message:
A first chance exception of type 'System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException' occurred in mscorlib.dll
Is this a known error? Is there a workaround?

I have a Silverlight 4 Test Project using the Jeff Wilcox assemblies and it works fine for my WP7 tests. I use [TestClass] and [TestMethod] attributes and these namespaces inside my tests:

I am new to testing in Xcode. I am following the developer documentation "iOS Developement Guide" Unit Testing Applications.
I have successfully added unit test bundles to my application with one failing test.
When I build the test target the output shows 1 error as expected but the editor does not show the expected error message under the failed test.
Does anyone know any configurations that need to be set to enable this feature?
Apples docs say:
"If the unit-test bundle is configured correctly, the build fails and Xcode displays an error message in the text editor."

- One thing I have noticed in my output window is the message "Command /bin/sh failed with exit code 1"
Try to follow this guide
Be double careful about when to set application target, and when to set Unit test target. It works fine for me though.
If Unit Test fail, there should be some messages shown in the console.
