I have tried using this 2 test, the first test worked just fine, but i think the second test is wrong because it’s passed, it should not be passed since outlet 3 inventory is 3, the text expect it to be 0

why can't you just compare the object as it is than individual fields ? as you are comparing exact values.

I currently just have a test for checking if a value is a number...and it isn't working.
After doing some more digging I reached what I set out for. I have a dynamic Velocity Template mapping for AWS API Gateway for the purpose of updating DynamoDB items.
So far it supports strings, numbers, booleans, and string-escaped objects, as that's how my project stores them (they are not query-able). ExpressionAttributeNames exists in case you use a reserved keyword for an attribute name...like I did for 'location'.
If anyone has any improvements/enhancements please let me know, it's a beast of a script.

What I see as a possibility for substituing 3 with 2 is to create cycle

It is the right solution if the maps aren't too big, since the cost is N*M. But it is a premature pessimization. You should implement the loop to have N+M cost: after all, the maps are sorted, so you only need to iterate each map once.

What I'm specifically looking for are analogs for the LEFT, SUBSTRING and REPLACE functions from SQL in mongo.
After researching this for some time, I can't find any direct analogs for those functions nor am I seasoned enough with mongodb that I can see another way of performing an equivalent operation.
An example of a similar query that I'm looking for is as follows:
