How can I make a pepper robot choregraphe app appear on the tablet to launch it? - pepper

I've read in the pepper/aldebaran documentation as well as in posts here that it is possible to launch pepper behaviours directly from the tablet. My problem is that the projects and behaviours that I create with choregraphe do not appear on the tablet. I can launch the installed package/project without any problem using the trigger conditions, but have no idea how to launch them on the tablet. Thus my questions is where can I find them on the tablet. I ticked the box "may start on user request" in the properties dialog.

This was also new to me but i figured out something.
In Choregraph you need to start the application "j-tablet-browser"
Now a promt will appear on the Tablet "Allow USB Debugging on Tablet"
Select "Allow"
Now a promt will appear on the Tablet "Select a Home app"
Select "Launcher 3"
Now you can open an Android app that is called RALViewer.
This App will show you the icons of your Choregraph projects that are installed.
Then after restart Pepper, the tablet should show the normal Android
screen and ask you again to Select a Home app. You can also make "Laucher 3" the default starting app.
Maybe it is also possible to set RAL Viewer as the default starting app so you dont need to navigate in Android after startup.
I dont know if thats what was meant in the tutorials, but it offers a way to start your app from the tablet.

Thanks for explanation! I came already across the RALViewer but it did not show the applications that I have uploaded. In the meantime I have experienced that newly uploaded apps do not appear immediately, but only after a reboot or any other condition that I coul not determine yet. Anyhow this seems to answer the question.

The problem of widget isn't invoked using google assistant

Do anyone have the similar problem to control Android apps (from google codelab - fitness app) with their voice, using Google Assistant?
In my app, I tried to activate widget using google assistant (app action tool test), but google assistant doesn't give any respond. Therefore, I used the example code google gave to run, but it still has similar problem that widget isn't invoked when I use app action tool test to test the app.
Sample code google provided:
https://github.com/actions-on-google/appactions-fitness-kotlin.git
the shortcut looks like below and how :
enter image description here
Update:
After updating the new running record, the app won't respond when I want to trigger widget after the first time I can do it successfully. Do anyone have similar question or know how to solve it?
App updates running record
The widget cannot update/display the new running record
widget cannot be trigger to get new running record
I'm assuming you're talking about the codelab titled Integrate Android Widgets with Google Assistant.
I've been able to get this codelab to work - mostly.
When testing using the App Actions test tool:
Make sure you have uploaded the app to a project in the Google Play Console. You'll only need to do this once, even if you change your code.
Make sure the account you're using for Android Studio, Play Console, and Google Assistant on your device are all the same.
Make sure you've compiled the app and deployed it to your device. The easiest way to do this just to run it from Android Studio the first time.
When you create the preview, set the name and Locale.
Even tho these are listed as "optional", these make it easier to debug.
The App name should be something you know will be recognized by voice and not used by any other app. I tend to use things like "Splat" and "Bogus".
Set the locale to en-US
Click "Create Preview"
Once the preview is created, you can test the widget running by
Setting the Intent to GET_EXERCISE_OBSERVATION
Changing the value in the "name" property to something like "run". ("Climbing" will also work, but tell you that you don't have that activity logged.)
Making sure the target device is the one you're testing on.
Clicking Run App Action
And you should see the widget appear in the Assistant on the device.
You don't need to use the test tool, however. Once you have created the preview with the Test Tool, you can just test it right on the device:
Start the Assistant by long-pressing on the home button.
Saying or typing a request such as "How far have I run with Bogus" ("Bogus" being the name I've chosen this time
If you have issues with the emulator, there are some other troubleshooting steps which may be useful depending on the error message you get.
Now, I did say "mostly". I have seen issues where it will stop responding at all, either via the Test Tool or directly via the Assistant. A few things that I've done that often (but not always) help:
Delete and then create the preview again.
Remember that the Preview is only available for a few hours.
Force stop the application.
Force stop the Google Assistant.
Even if you don't see a message, check out the Troubleshooting steps for "Sorry, I couldn't find that"

Turning off Windows Update on Google Cloud Platform Windows Virtual Machine (Server 2016)

Much as it pains me to do so, I have to run a Windows VM on Google Cloud Platform in order to run some legacy data extraction software on a nightly basis.
It works fine (except the recurring feeling that I am stepping back in time every time I RDP into the VM), except over the holidays when the extract stopped. I checked the update logs and it seemed to be when an automatic Windows Update took place. As such I want to stop these from happening, however I cannot find any way of stopping them!
I own the GCP project and VM, so should have permissions to change any settings I like, does anybody have a clue how to do this please?
You do have the right to do whatever in your VM Windows.
For windows 7
1- Log in to the Windows 7 or Windows 8 guest operating system as an
administrator.
2- Click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Turn automatic
updating on or off.
3- In the Important updates menu, select Never check for updates.
4- Deselect Give me recommended updates the same way I receive
important updates.
5- Deselect Allow all users to install updates on this computer and
click OK.
For Windows 10
I suugest your to follow the steps provided Here as the windows 10 has a policy of forced updates three option available.
Tracked down the answer! Posting here in case it helps somebody else...

Solution
Open SCONFIG and verify your current Windows Update Settings:
Open a command prompt with Admin permissions.
Type sconfig and press Enter.
NOTE: There may be a short pause as the tool inspects your system.
Option #5 shows the current configuration of your Windows Update settings.
Config.PNG
To change your Automatic Update Settings, follow these steps:
From the SCONFIG screen press 5 and then Enter. This will bring up the following options for you to choose from:
(A)utomatic – This will configure your machine to automatically scan, download, install and reboot after applying any updates.
(D)ownloadOnly – This will automatically scan, download and notify the admin if updates need to be installed. This is the default setting on Windows Server 2016.
(M)anual -- This turns Automatic Updates off. Your system will never check for updates.
2. Press the letter specified in the "( )" and press Enter to apply.
3. When the tool applies the configuration you have selected, you will see a message pop-up similar to the one below. Click the OK button to dismiss the message. The tool will refresh the menu and option 5 will now show the new configuration.

Launcher app icon on Amazon TV Stick

App launcher icon is wrongly displayed on Amazon TV Stick device on home scren.
Image is correctly displayed in category Recent but in category Apps&Games instead to be rectangular it is shrinked to square as shown in image:
https://ibb.co/bYGiym
I have Amazon TV Stick with FireOS 5.2.6.1.
For testing I am using android app just with empty activity, and in drawable directory placed image 1280x720px, as they specified in https://developer.amazon.com/docs/app-submission/asset-guidelines.html#firetvassets
I read that there might be different behavior with apps in development and those that are uploaded to the Appstore. Is this correct?
Are resources actually loaded from some Amazon web service rather than referenced from the manifest file and
is it possible that this icon will be correctly shown only after submitting it to the Appstore?
Why FireOS shrinks app icon on home screen to square or4:3 format?
So, is this some problem with Amazon and FireOS and installing applications localy or I am just not setting up things correctly?
If it is up to me what should I do localy in my environment in order that icon
is displayed in correct rectangular shape in all categories?
In my experience, Fire TV and Fire Stick will pull from your mobile icons when you side-load a build. You won't see the actual TV app icon until the app is available after submission.
I haven't tried it, but there could be workarounds, like maybe replacing the square mobile icons with the rectangular TV app icons, but it sounds to me like you've already done something similar, and it's forcing it to be square. If that workaround works, I'm not sure it's worth the risk of forgetting to change it back to a square.

Is it possible not to use voice commands?

I don't like any of the listed commands in google glass and review team didn't approve my own. I want my glassware to by on official store so my question is:
Can I NOT use voice activation for an app and just start it using touchpad?
Absolutely it is possible to open an app without voice commands.
Instead of saying "Hello Glass" when the screen turns on, just tap on the touch pad, and it'll bring up a list of applications in chronological order of usage. You can scroll through them until you find the name of yours, and then tap to open it.

Sitecore SIM Installation permission error

I am trying to install SIM version 13 rev 1404021 using Administrative priveleges
When i click on Grant button it give me error that " you dont have neccessary permission set".
Also i have given full permission to Network Service,IUSR, IIS_USR and network to the folder
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
Kindly let me know whate else permission need to be given inorder to run sitecore instance manager succesfully.
It may be caused by bug in SIM that doesn't get actual SQL Server user account (LocalService or custom) and thinks that it is always NetworkService. So work around is to switch your SQL Server service from using LocalService or custom account to NetworkService.
Same context with Alen's answer, but in windows 10.
Use 'Local System account' and tick the 'Allow service to interact with desktop'.
Then, restart the service.
At this point, you don't need to reopen the SIM installation window. You can just click the Grant button and it would work.
Well, for me the issue was that the database user didn't have the dbcreator role so the wizard couldn't create databases in SQL Server.
Open SQL Server Management Studio
Expand Security > Logins
Double-click on the user to open the properties dialog
In Server Roles, check the dbcreator role
Press OK and enjoy

When you downloaded the SIM zip file from Marketplace, did you click "Properties" on the zip file and click the "Unblock" button before unzipping and running it?
I've found in the past that forgetting this step can be the cause of odd security related errors with applications.
I ran across a similar issue I had, but for me root issue was that the wwwroot folder was on a VM/Parallels and that folder was marked "compress" and "archive"
unset that for wwwroot and child items, and then SIM proceeded correctly.
