Add Image to Assets Folder UWP C++ - c++

Why can't I add images to my UWP assets folder? I usually use C#, but I have to use C++ because I'll eventually be turning this into an optional package (somebody tell me if I'm wrong, and I can write optional packages in C#).
Using Visual Studio, I right click on the Assets folder in the Solutions Explorer click Add->Existing Item and then click on my image. It shows up in Visual Studio, but it doesn't actually get added to the Assets folder so I'm unable to view it when I load my app. I wouldn't think that it matters whether I use C++ or C#, but one is working and not the other.
I've tried rebuilding the project, rebooting the computer, repairing Visual Studio and I'm still stuck.
As suggested by paxbun, I tried using File Explorer to add the file. If I added the file in the Assets folder with the project files, it didn't help. I was able to get the code to work by adding the file to the AppX folder in the Debug folder, but this won't help when I'm ready to release (to make sure, I did a quick sideload).

Upon further research, I found my answer here.
Clicking "Show all files" in the Solution Explorer and then setting "Include in project" to true was all I needed to do.

I Don't Know How To Use/Run These Files That Are In A Github C++ Library I'm Trying To Add To My Project?

In Visual Studio, right-click on your project in the Solution Explorer pane. From the menu that pops up, choose the 'Properties' item. It is usually at the very bottom. A dialog box will appear.
In the left pane of the dialog box, expand the options Configuration Properties > C++ > General. Now, in the right pane of the dialog box, probably at or near the top will be an item labeled 'Additional Include Directories`. Add the full path to the folder where you copied the source files from GitHub.
You may need to explicitly add ALL the files you downloaded from GitHub into your Visual Studio project.
Try compiling again.

Visual Studio doesn't recognize opencv: unable to locate DLL [duplicate]

I am trying just a basic program with OpenCV with the following code:

When I run this, I get

However, I can see this DLL. It exists. I have added the following to the input dependencies for my linker

What gives? I'm using visual studio 2008.
When I link the .dll files instead of .dll.a files, I get
fatal error LNK1107:invalid or corrupt

I followed instructions on http://opencv.willowgarage.com/wiki/VisualC%2B%2B_VS2010 but was still stuck on exactly the same problem, so here's how I resolved it.
Fetched MSVC 2010 express edition.
Fetched Win 32 OpenCV 2.2 binaries and installed in default location.
Created new project.
Project setup
Project -> OpenCV_Helloworld Properties...Configuration Properties -> VC++ Directories
Include Directories... add: C:\OpenCV2.2\include\;
Library Directories... add: C:\OpenCV2.2\lib;C:\OpenCV2.2\bin;
Source Directories... add:
C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\calib3d\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\contrib\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\core\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\features2d\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\flann\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\gpu\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\gpu\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\highgui\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\imgproc\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\legacy\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\ml\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\objdetect\src;C:\OpenCV2.2\modules\video\src;

At this point I thought I was done, but ran into the problem you described when running the exe in debug mode. The final step is obvious once you see it, select:
Linker -> General ... Set 'Use Library Dependency Inputs' to 'Yes'

Just for your information,after add the "PATH",for my win7 i need to reboot it to get it work.
In Visual Studio 2013 you need to add this to the Environment Variables and then Restart your pc. This is the path where .dll file located in.
I have had numerous problems with opencv and only succeded after a gruesome 4-6 months. This is the last problem I have had, but all of the above didn't work. What worked for me was just copying and pasting the opencv_core2*.dll (and opencv_highgui2*.dll which it will ask for since you included this as well) into the release (or debug folder - I'm assuming. Haven't tested this) folder of your project, where your application file is.

You just need to add the folder of the needed dll file (or files) to your system "Environment Variables" in "Path".
Your problem will 100% be resolved. I had this problem too.
just open the bin folder and copy and paste the .dll files to the folder you are working in..it should fix the problem
As to #Marc's answer, I don't think VC uses the path from the OS. Did you add the path to VC's library paths. I usually add the DLLs to the project and copy if newer on the build and that works very well for me.
you can find the opencv_core248 and other dlls in opencv\build\x86\vc12\bin folder. Just copy the dlls you require into system32 folder. And your app should start working in a flash ! Hope it helps.
This might be like resurrecting a dead horse. But just so it's out there, the reason why the answer to these types of questions to simply put dll's into the system32 folder is because that folder is in the os's system path.
It's actually best practice to provide the os with a path link.
With windows 10
open up file explorer
right click on "this pc" and select "properties"
Now in the "Control Panel\System and Security\System" window that comes up, click on "Advanced System Settings" from the left hand panel.
At the bottom of the next window, click on the "Environment Variables" button.
On the next window, there are two panels, the top one is for modifying variables to the current user, and the bottom panel is for modifying variables to the system. On the bottom panel, find the variable "Path" and click it to select it, then click on the "edit" button.
Here you can then create, edit, delete, or update the different paths for the system. For example, to add mingw32-make to the system so you can access that command via command prompt, click new, then paste in the path to the bin. Example path, "D:\Qt\Tools\mingw730_64\bin", no quotation marks nor additional whitespaces.
Click ok on all the windows so that the changes are saved, then reboot your computer for the changes to be loaded.
The ".a" at the end of your DLL files is a problem, and those are there because you didn't use CMAKE to build OpenCV 2.0. Additionally you do not link to the DLL files, you link to the library files, and again, the reason you do not see the correct library files is because you didn't use CMAKE to build OpenCV 2.0. If you want to use OpenCV 2.0 you must build it for it to work correctly in Visual Studio. If you do not want to build it then I would suggest downgrading to OpenCV 1.1pre, it comes pre-built and is much more forgiving in Visual Studio.
Another option (and the one I would recommend) is to abandon OpenCV and go with EmguCV. I have been playing with OpenCV for about a year and things got much easier when I switched to EmguCV because EmguCV works with .NET, so you can use a language like C# that does not come with all the C++ baggage of pointers, header files, and memory allocation problem.
And as for the question of 64bit vs. 32bit, OpenCV does not officially support 64bit. To be on the safe side open your project properties and change the "Platform Target" under the "Build" tab from "Any CPU" to "X86". This should be done any time you do anything with OpenCV, even if you are using a wrapper like EmguCV.
Copy all .dll from /bin in System32
Just copy the .dll files to C:\windows\system32\
No need to do any of that. It is a visual studio error.

Move files in Visual Studio and AnkhSVN simultaneously

I'm reorganizing my project in visual studio. I have some .cpp/.h files which I want to move into a subdirectory physically. A would like to have the following acts simultaneously:
File moving on file system
SVN working copy database updating (with keeping history)
Visual Studio project file(s) updating
Extra benefits would be nice, like:
Updating of #include directives referring to the file.
Are there any solutions? Best workarounds?
This is the proverbial chicken-and-egg dilemma for software developers:
Do you move/rename your files in Visual Studio first then go back to Windows Explorer and correct all the adds/deletes that should really be renames/moves?
Or do you rename/move your files in Windows Explorer then go clean up all the introduced compilation errors in Visual Studio?
You already have the solution at hand! Without AnkhSVN if you do your file operations in Visual Studio you already get two of your requirements: updating your VS project and file system synchronization. With AnkhSVN installed, though, you also get your 3rd requirement: it makes the necessary SVN synchronizations as well. All you have left to do is a commit.
I found the following description from a cached page in a Google search:
In Windows Explorer, right-click and drag the file from its old
location to its new location, then select "SVN move versioned item"
from the context menu. This will not only move the actual file itself,
but it will also make sure that all the file history stays with it
after you check in your changes. Back in Visual Studio, use the
Solution Explorer in VS2010 to "exclude from project" the
(now-missing) copy of the file in its old location, and then "include
in project" the file in its new location. You may need to refresh the
view in solution explorer and/or make sure you are viewing all the
files by clicking the "Show all Files" icon at the top (next to the
refresh icon) in order to see these files.
After you update the namespace to reflect the new location, I
recommend using a global find and replace before you try to compile to
save yourself a lot of trouble.

How can I use Visual Studio to work with large non-VS codebase?

I'm a fairly experienced C# dev, but have very little C++ knowledge. I have set my self a project to get a custom Firefox build running, and be able to control it from C# code.
I have got so far as getting and building the Firefox source, and creating a Visual Studio solution for the exe. This means I can now run via F5 in Visual studio. If I open a source file, I can set break points and have them hit.
What I'm not sure how to do, is load the entire source, as if I were working with a C# .NET solution. As I understand it, there are no project files with the Firefox source, as it is not windows specific source. I have followed an online example that suggests creating using 'project from existing code' option in VS, which resulted in VS grinding to a halt as there were so many files.
What are the steps to getting the code into an environment (preferably Visual Studio) that makes it simple(ish) to edit, debug and navigate the source code.

From you question, I beleive you are almost there. You have a working build ? That means you have :
A Solution File (*.sln)
A Project file (*.vcxproj or *.vcproj depending on yoru visual studio version)
With that in hand, what works best for me is this layout (adapted to your needs) :
Starting from a root folder of you liking, say MyProject
Create a new Empty solution there
Move the folder with your working build in a subdirectory, like MyProject\MyCustomFirefox
In Visual Studio "Add an existing project" and find your vcxproj file
In the same solution, create a C# project like you always do, in a directory at the same level as your FF build, like MyProject\MyFirefoxController
In short the solution file is pretty much alone in the root directory, and each project is in its own directory.
You will also need to adjust build options so that the output files (a DLL or an EXE) is seen by your C# project. While your are at it, make the C# project dependent on your Firefox build : it will instruct the msbuild to rebuild one if you change the other.
This will not work with the Express edition, I beleive. They are single language.
If you have a command line build path, which is creating a VS-debuggable executable, you could try adding all the source files to the project, but marking them 'exclude from build'. Then add a 'post-build step' to call the command line tools.
You may have to do a little more tweaking in the project properties to get the command line output recognized as the output to debug, but theoretically this could work.

Visual Studio unmanaged C++ smart file explorer

I use Visual Studio to develop unmanaged C++ apps for a living.
Is there an add-on tool (price isnt the issue) that is smart enough to detect folders that I create within my solution folder and add them to the include path (/I)? It would automatically do this for win32, or x64 platform settings, or debug, and release, etc.
It should also be smart enough to remove the include paths if folder is deleted
Arent you frustrated sometimes when you double click a file under solution explorer and Visual Studio says it cant find the file because somebody moved or renamed it? ---> Is there a tool that would periodically scan the files in Solution Explorer and automatically removes or prompts the user to let them know those files are no longer valid?
Like John Lakos once said, I too would pay for an add-on that can automatically add #include into my code by just parsing my project's .h/.cpp files.

You can manipulate files/folders from the IDE! Just click the "show all files" button in the solution explorer (2nd from left, at the top). I just recently found that out.
