I am learning Django 2 and need integrate django with kibana, and configurate setting for send logs to kibana. If anyone knows integrations, please share with me.
I prefer keeping such integration separate from application logic, even if it is possibble.
Django writes its logs to a log-file like it normally does.
A completely separate program like logstash, reads the logfile and pushes it to elasticsearch for indexing and later showing on kibana dashboard.
Is that what you were looking for?

I currently have a server build process that uses Terraform and deploys a server all from code.
I'm looking for a web UI with forms that I could either populate specific fields and or do API get commands against a VCenter or wherever the server is being built to populate the specific fields. The fields that get populated would be stored as the variables.tf file and when someone hits submit, it would run the actual Terraform command terraform apply to build the server based on the variables. My guess is the terraform binaries would have to live on there so it could run in the background.
It doesn't have to be some super fancy web page, just something that I could potentially make look cool for Director level folks.
Also, I don't want to use TF enterprise, yet. I've looked into a couple of open source projects (atlantis and terrahub) but none seem to be what I'm looking for.
I'm far from a web developer so any help would be awesome.
You can try with SLD
Stack-Lifecycle-Deployment
I think it has everything that you need
It is very intuitive, it has a web interface and a rest api to easily integrate it with the rest of the applications.
I cant seem to figure out how to query database information from mysql through a php file uploaded to a server back to a xamarin application after something like a http post call.
I am relatively new to database development, however I had used bluehost for php storage and querying of my app information for about a year yet cant seem to do the same with AWS. I have a relatively decent scope of what S3, EC2, and RDS do for you, however none of them seem to do what I want. In essence I want to be able to say have someone click a button on my xamarin app that creates an event for a club. Then after they click said button, it will make an http post request to an aws site that contains a php file. In that php file it will change or grab the contents of a mysql database. The only place that seems to be able to upload files is S3 but you cant seem to directly utilize php files in the JSON format that I want. Am I completely off with why you would use AWS at all, am I close but not using the right tools, or is it something else? Please give a pretty extensive description on all that I would need to do as I have been struggling to find anything at all on this topic surprisingly.
So after some digging this video here walks through it a bit with phpstorm as your way to connect to the database and add webpages or api php files. Its pretty long but very helpful.
Hello smart people on stackoverflow,
I would be very happy if someone could point me to the right libraries/frameworks to do what I want.
We have the following web architecture set up.
1. We have a tomcat server that offers REST services.
2. We have an apache2 server that serves up php pages to users.
a. Some of these php pages make REST calls to tomcat for data.
b. Other php pages contain javascript that makes REST calls that are routed through apache2 via mod_proxy to tomcat. e.g. All request to http://myapache.com/PASSTOTOMCAT/rest/getSecureData would go to tomcat.
Now, I'm asked to add authentication to everything, both the user pages as well as the REST calls. It would obviously be ideal for the user to sign-in once for access to both.
What library can I use for this? I don't think I can use any php-based solution (ie. one that involves adding a ) because the pass-through url's won't have a chance to add this code and check for authentication. I think I need to use something built into apache2 itself.
One minor requirement is that I would like the user credentials stored in a mysql database as opposed to a file.
Am I over-thinking this?
Thanks in advance
Well it's been 5 days, so I guess I'll answer my own question...
I ended up using the new mod_auth_form for authentication because it lets you use a nice stylized webpage to log users in.
I also used mod_dbd to access user credentials in mysql.
I couldn't find a nice tutorial on this so I struggled through the installation and setup a bit, but if anyone cares, I created a set of instructions on my blog in case anyone else tries to do the same thing.

I have built a website in django framework. It has a lot of features such as blog, discussion forum, basically there are lots of ways users can interact. I have built a basic notification framework where a user gets notified when somebody comments on their blog, or answers their question in the forum.
Since the notifications are stored in db, new notifications are displayed only when a page refresh is done. I would like to make it real time using some push server using something like long polling technique.
I have come across NowJS which seems to be pretty handy for this, but in all the examples that are given I could not see any example where there was any interaction with the database. In all the cases there was some information sent by one client and it was displayed to one or more clients.
What I actually want to do is to call a function using NowJS, and make it go to sleep until a new notification is added in the database. When a new notifications comes in the server responds back with the notification and a new request is done immediately.
I can figure out all other parts except how to access the database from Node server that is used by NowJS. Any help or guidance is appreciated.
Either:
Have your node.js server make an http call to the Django server via something like a REST api to get info back
Google for a database connector for node.js - I found enough evidence for a MySQL one, and rumours of a PostgreSQL one. Note this won't get you access to the Django DB API, so you'll have to work out all your related queries and craft your SQL by hand (make sure Bobby Tables doesn't bother you: http://www.xkcd.com/327)
Re-implement the NowJS protocol so that you can write a django server for it, keeping the same JS client code on the clients... but then you may as wel.....

My situation: I'm working on a web monitoring dashboard that assembles informations from different applications and sources and generate graphs, info graphics and reports.
The applications I'm trying to integrate are CACTI, Nagios, and other local private monitoring tools. I had no problem to integrate these applications, except for Nagios (I don't have much experience with it).
What I want to know is if there is a way to use Nagios as a Web Service, or something similar, so I can expose some of the informations and use it to generate my own reports on my dashboard application.
Is it possible to do that without any epic effort?
thanks for reading.
Nagios 4.x starting with version 4.4 now includes CGIs for JSON output. Installing the newest version of Nagios might be the easiest way to go.
See the announcement here.
Review the slides from Nagios World Conference 2013 here.
The Check_MK Multisite GUI (Web base GUI using MK Livestatus) offers a web service mode, where you can send queries/commands as URL parameters and get the response as JSON in the body.
The trick is: Create a view in the GUI, which fits your needs. Then extract the URL of that view and add the parameter output_format=json. Now you should have the output in a parsable format.
For example, this URL should give you a JSON list of all services:
check_mk/view.py?view_name=allservices&output_format=json
You can try:
1) MK Livestatus http://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_livestatus.html
it's not web service but it can give current data without any complicated action. All you need redirect this data.
2)status-json plugin http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Addons/APIs/JSON/status-2Djson/details which return data in JSON format.
3)NagiosWS plugin but I wasn't able to get to work it yet. I think it can be done for Nagios 2.x
4)GroundWork Foundation plugin. I think I will try use it now.
I was able to get to work 1 and 2 solution now.
Otherwise you can use Icinga which can give you some JSON or XML output. Icinga is fork of Nagios and can be installed with saving all your nagios data and plugins. At least it written on Icinga's site =) They have some other solution like PHP lib.
Sorry, I cannot post only 2 link while I'm newbie on this site.
Best regards.
Worked for me - MK Livestatus http://mathias-kettner.de/checkmk_livestatus.html it's not web service but it can give current data without any complicated action. All you need redirect this data.
