I Cannot SSH to MY EC2 From any network ( my home-network, my workplace, or my Linode box) or ping the EC2 instance. I have all the necessary ports open, inbound and outbound. My IP address is 54.89.239.56, And the instance is RUNNING What could this be.**

The standard things to always check when attempting to connect from the Internet to an EC2 instance are:
Internet Gateway attached to the VPC
You are referencing the instance via a Public IP Address
Instance was launched in a public subnet, which means that the subnet is associated to a Route Table that routes to the Internet Gateway
Security Group is permitting the inbound traffic from your IP Address and port (outbound traffic configuration is irrelevant because Security Groups are stateful)
Network ACL is not blocking the traffic (by default it permits all inbound and outbound traffic)
The instance is listening on the port (eg Linux SSH on port 22, Windows RDP on port 3389)
There are no host-based firewalls on the instance blocking traffic (eg Windows Firewall)

I have a loadbalancer classic2-**.us-east-1.elb.amazonaws.com and its public , i have whitelisted the port 443 and 80 for all connection and was connecting fine from another public ec2 server as expected :

Later I changed the incoming security gruop for the loadbalancer for port 80 and allowed only ec2 to access port 80 for the loadbalancer. For that I have edited the security group for the loadbalancer inbound rule and added source as ec2 security grop name (sg-****). After saving that rule I tried telnet to port 80 from ssh to loadbalancer but its not accespting the connection :

telnet: connect to address ****: Connection timed out
....
Not sure why its rejecting. Both instance and elb are in public subnet and elb not working with ec2 instance security group as source.

I suspect that the Load Balancer is configured as a Public Load Balancer. As a result, the DNS Name will resolve to a Public IP address. Therefore, the telnet connection will be connecting to the Public IP address of the load balancer. (You can test this by resolving the DNS Name to an IP address, such as using nslookup or even ping.)
However, when one security group refers to another security group, it permits the connection via a Private IP address because it expects the connections to happen totally within the VPC.
There are two ways to resolve this:
Change the Load Balancer to be an Internal Load Balancer, OR
Change the security group to permit inbound connections from the Public IP address of the instance, rather than the Security Group identifier

and I want to create a security group in AWS which allows only one IP access to ports 80 or 443, but AWS is blocking everything even the IP which should have access when I apply this group.
We are using nginx in the ec2 server and the certificate was created with certbot
What do you mean by "blocking everything"?
From these 2 rules, port 80 and port 443 are only open to the one IP that you had given. If this is a webapp, it is likely that you'll have a loadbalancer setup to receive the traffic.
Check the ELB security group and block traffic there (If there is an ELB setup)
Check the VPC NACL if there are any block for port 80/443 traffic. If that is the case, NACL rule will take precedence here
Make sure you check your outbound rules also. If by "Blocking everything", you meant the outbound traffic
Edit the inbound rule to be only lock out any other port to the instance ip address only, while you open 443 and 80 to everyone.
eg. if ur ec2 instance public ip is 13.255.77.8 and you don't want port 5000 to be accessible to the public, create a custom tcp with your that is only acessible to that port ie mapping port 5000 to this ip - 13.255.77.8/32
I am new to networking. And I am trying to route only traffic from one VM traffic to another VM. Therefore, I have done this.
I have two AWS EC2 instances as:
Application Server
Database Server
And they have their own security groups and I have allowed all traffic is permissible. Now I want to Database_server accepts only Application_server traffic not all public traffic. Database_server is MySQL which is running on 3306 port.
Suppose:
Application_server Public IP: 14.233.245.51
Database_server Public IP: 15.233.245.51
So I have allowed on port 3306 like this 14.233.245.51/32 for only Database_server but it did not work. It was before this 0.0.0.0/0 and ::/0.
How can I solve this?
First, the application server should communicate with the database server via private IP address. This will keep all traffic within the VPC and will enable security groups to work correctly.
Second, configure the security groups:
App-SG should be associated with the application server and permit incoming traffic on the appropriate ports for the application (eg 80, 443)
DB-SG should be associated with the database server and permit incoming traffic on port 3306 from App-SG
That is, DG-SG permits inbound traffic from App-SG by referring to the ID of App-SG. There is no need to specify an IP address. The security groups will automatically recognize the traffic and permit the App server to send traffic to the DB server. Return traffic will also be permitted because security groups are stateful.
You MUST communicate with the database server via private IP address for this to work.
I'm setting up an AWS VPC with both private and public subnets. In public subnets, I created 2 instances: one as bastion host and one as a web server. For the web server, I only want to make port 80 open to public, but SSH access needs to done through the bastion host.
I created 2 paris of SSH keys. One is dedicated for public access to bastion host from external. Another is for private SSH access from bastion host to the web server (and all other instances that will be created in the private subnets).
At the moment, I can SSH to bastion host as expected. But from bastion host, I can't SSH into the web server, althoug I have the right inbound securiy rules. In order to find the issue, I did some more tests. First, I expanded the inbound rule on the web server to allow public SSH access. Once I do so, I can SSH into the web server from external. Second, I add rules for ICMP traffic both from bastion host only and from public (0.0.0.0/0). But again, I can ping from external, but not from bastion host.
Below is the webserver (IP: 191.100.0.56) inbound and outbound rules. Note that IP 191.100.0.162 is the bastion host IP.

The subnet ACL is default which is Allow ALL for both inbound and outbound.

I'm wondering where could be the problem? This is a bit strange to me. Why I can access (SSH or ping) from public, but not from the bastion host?
When I was setting up VPC in aws, I had created an instance in public subnet. The instance was not able to ping to google and was giving timeout when connecting to yum repository.
The security groups were open with required ports.
When I edited the ACL to add ICMP from 0.0.0.0/0 in inbound the instance was able to ping to google. But the yum repository was still was giving timeout. All the curl/wget/telnet commands were returning error. Only ping was working.
When I added the following port range for inbound in ACL 1024-65535 from all 0.0.0.0/0 that is when the yum repository was reachable. Why is that?
The outbound traffic was allow all in ACL. Why do we need to allow inbound from these ports to connect to any site?
In AWS, NACLs are attached to subnets. Security Groups are attached to instances (actually the network interface of an instance).
You must have deleted NACL Inbound Rule 100, which then uses Rule *, which blocks ALL incoming traffic. Unless you have specific reasons, I would use the default rules in your NACL. Control access using Security Groups which are "stateful". NACLs are "stateless".
The default Inbound rules for NACLs:
Rule 100 "ALL Traffic" ALL ALL 0.0.0.0/0 ALLOW
Rule * "ALL Traffic" ALL ALL 0.0.0.0/0 DENY
Your Outbound rules should look like this:
Rule 100 "ALL Traffic" ALL ALL 0.0.0.0/0 ALLOW
Rule * "ALL Traffic" ALL ALL 0.0.0.0/0 DENY
When your EC2 instance connects outbound to another system, the return traffic will usually be between ports 1024 to 65534. Ports 1 - 1023 are considered privileged ports and are reserved for specific services such as HTTP (80), HTTPS (443), SMPT (25, 465, 587), etc. A Security Group will remember the connection attempt and automatically open the required return port.
