More than one instance of overloaded function - c++

I am trying to compile a library that uses CUDA, on an Ubuntu system using CUDA 8.0 and clang 3.8.
The library includes Eigen headers in several *.cu files, which apparently includes the cmath header, causing an ambiguity in the CUDA headers.
/usr/local/cuda-8.0/include/cuda_fp16.h(3068): error: more than one instance of overloaded function "isinf" matches the argument list:
function "std::isinf(float)"
function "isinf(float)"
argument types are: (float)
CUDA defines its own __device__ ​ __RETURN_TYPE isinf ( float a ), and I would expect that std::isinf would have to be called explicitly rather than create a conflict.
Any leads on this would be much appreciated.

As I recall, this is actually a Clang problem. Compiling in C++11 mode with Clang 3.8 and gcc 6 standard library headers will trigger the problem. If you switch to a supported gcc 5 version, or don't specify C++11 support, the problem will disappear.

I'm getting an error when I use size(vec) to find size of a vector instead of vec.size(). How to fix this?

When I use nums.size(), it is working fine. It could be because of using an older compiler version, but in my system when I check the version it shows 10.3.0, which I think is the latest version. How do I fix this?
The std::size function was added in C++17, therefore, you need to enable its support. With GCC, just add -std=c++17 as a command-line argument to your g++ call.
You can also check the libstdc++ source code: https://github.com/gcc-mirror/gcc/blob/master/libstdc%2B%2B-v3/include/bits/range_access.h#L236. As you can see, there is an #ifdef that makes std::size available only if C++17 (or higher standard) support is applied.

Error compiling Boost.Log

I am trying to compile the boost log library and I keep getting this error from the dump_avx2.cpp file

I get a lot of errors that are very similar to the one above, all of them have the same error message but different locations in the file where they occur, for reference I am on the commit hash 68701167a1020b0b4c47b76e31d3a3da9e2faf3f for the Boost.Log submodule as fetched from the github repo (https://github.com/boostorg/boost)
Does anyone know how I can go about resolving this issue? I am building with a C++14 compiler and this is what I get when I type g++ --version
Apple LLVM version 8.0.0 (clang-800.0.42.1)

Note I should clarify that in this context it is required that I compile this library separately.
Note There seem to be two related source files dump_ssse3.cpp and the mentioned dump_avx2.cpp file, do I have to compile only one of them? I cannot make out what to do from the Jamfile in the build folder :(
That looks like a bug in clang (LLVM). First, the intrinsic belongs to AVX2, not SSE4.2. Second, the whole dump_avx2.cpp file is compiled with -mavx2, so the required extensions are enabled. You can see the compiler switches in the error message from b2. And no, both dump_ssse3.cpp and dump_avx2.cpp should be compiled. The library does runtime detection of the available instructions in the CPU and selects the proper implementation.

Does clang provide an unlink implementation?

I am trying to compile a library using clang. The library makes calls to 'unlink', which is not defined by clang:

My question is, what is the clang equivalent of unlink? As I see it, the path forward would be to #define unlink somewhere with an equivalent routine.
There is no "Clang equivalent". Neither GCC nor Clang have ever been responsible for defining unlink, though they do probably distribute the POSIX headers which do (I don't recall specifically where POSIX headers come from).
Unfortunately, this appears to be a bug with the library you're using; the OpenExif developers failed to include the correct headers. Different C++ implementations may internally #include various headers for their own purposes, which has apparently masked this bug on your previous toolchain.
You can hack your copy and/or submit a patch to add:
#include <unistd.h>

-O1/2/3 with -std=c++1y/11/98 - If <cmath> is included i'm getting error: '_hypot' was not declared in this scope

I've just updated MinGW using mingw-get-setup and i'm unable to build anyting that contains <cmath> header if I use anything larger than -O0 with -std=c++1y. (I also tried c++11 and c++98) I'm getting errors like this one:

Or version at mingw repo is bugged? And if so, is there any quick fix for this header?
To avoid any further speculation, and downright bad suggestions such as using #if 0, let me give an authoritative answer, from the perspective of a MinGW project contributor.
Yes, the MinGW.org implementation of include/math.h does have a bug in its inline implementation of hypotf (float, float); the bug is triggered when compiling C++, with the affected header included (as it is when cmath is included), and any compiler option which causes __STRICT_ANSI__ to become defined is specified, (as is the case for those -std=c... options noted by the OP). The appropriate solution is not to occlude part of the math.h file, with #if 0 or otherwise, but to correct the broken inline implementation of hypotf (float, float); simply removing the spurious leading underscore from the inline reference to _hypot (float, float), where its return value is cast to the float return type should suffice.
Alternatively, substituting an equivalent -std=gnu... for -std=c... in the compiler options should circumvent the bug, and may offer a suitable workaround.
FWIW, I'm not entirely happy with MinGW.org's current implementation of hypotl (long double, long double) either; correcting both issues is on my punch list for the next release of the MinGW runtime, but ATM, I have little time to devote to preparing this.
Update
This bug is no longer present in the current release of the MinGW.org runtime library (currently mingwrt-3.22.4, but fixed since release 3.22). If you are using anything older than this, (including any of the critically broken 4.x releases), you should upgrade.
As noted by Keith, this is a bug in the MinGW.org header.
As an alternative to editing the MinGW.org header, you can use MinGW-w64, which provides everything MinGW.org provides, and a whole lot more.

MinGW uses gcc and the Microsoft runtime library. Microsoft's implementation support C90, but its support for later versions of the C standard (C99 and C11) is very poor.
The hypot function (along with hypotf and hypotl) was added in C99.
If you're getting this error with a program that calls hypot, such as:

then it's just a limitation of the Microsoft runtime library, and therefore of MinGW. If it occurs with any program that has #include <cmath>, then it's a bug, perhaps a configuration error, in MinGW.

I am trying to compile boost under iOS, but every time I try to launch my project errors occurs like this:

I think that the main reason is compiler, I try to change some settings and play with compiler but every time new errors occurs, so here are my current settings for compiler,
C Language Dialector - C99[-std=c99]
C++ Language Dialector - C++98[-std=C++98]
C++ Standard library - libstdc++
Boost version is 1.44.0,
XCode version is 4.5
Anybody knows how I must configurate my project to compile boost under iOS ?
According to this reference page for vsnprintf() it was introduced in C++11, so instead of -std=C++98 try -std=C++0x (however, the compiler may not support all features introduced in C++11).
