I was going through the AWS s3 calculator for Standard Storage. I didnt understood the meaning of Data Transfer calculation. How it is calculated?

Let say my use case is i want to upload a file, store it in S3 s long as i want it, i will download it whenever i want, i will modify the file and these operation i will do from across the world from mobile, laptop through my app/website.
You pay for all traffic going out of AWS (Data Transfer Out). You also pay for inter-region traffic.
Let's say you have a S3 bucket in Virginia and an EC2 in Oregon. This EC2 downloads a 100MB file from that bucket. You'll pay 100MB of inter-region.
If you download the file from your PC, you pay 100MB of transfer out. You always pay for what goes out or to another region. If you partially download a file, you'll be charged that exact amount. That's basically it.

I have an EC2 service in AWS, in which the only thing I do is upload a .txt file 4 times a day, which all my clients, when using my software, use the last txt I uploaded, it can be updated by all as many times as they want in the day.
Lately with the EC2 service I am being surprised by the cost of ec2 $0.090 per GB - first 10 TB / month data transfer.....
I wanted to know if there is another option to continue using an AWS service where I can host these txt, my clients can consume it and not pay as much as I am doing (more than 200 dollars per month)

ok the first thing that you have to know is that all the data uploaded is free, BUT if you expose your instance through AWS Load Balancer you will be charged for connections and data processing, the data transfer fees in AWS is basically a head ache IMO.
My suggestion -> AWS S3
If your txt files can be publicly accessible or you can modify your app to create S3 pre-signed URLs to make the files privates but accessible from your customer side, put those files in AWS S3, basically you will pay exactly the same data transfer fee but you will save on Ec2 instance capacity and EBS is a little bit more expensive than S3, additionally you don't need to care about HA or backups.
I think you don't need Cloudfront at the very beginning
Scenario is that I want to store my images uploaded by user through my application in amazon s3 and later retrieve them on demand.
So I was going through how much cost it will be there to store images in s3 and I across term "Data transfer cost",
I am bit confused like suppose I uploaded and image in s3 and make it public and when even I access that image suppose in a Brower tab through public s3 link, do I have to pay data transfer cost for that? or accessing and image from it's public link is free?
Same is if I download my image from s3 using my front end application, then also I have to pay data transfer cost?
Second part of my question :
If data transfer cost apply can I avoid my data transfer cost by first accessing my image from NodeJS running in ec2 instance then sending it back from my NodeJS application running in ec2 instance ?
Yes, you pay in both cases, that is exactly what the data transfer cost means.
Additionally you pay for the storage and for the number of requests.
You can e.g. go through https://calculator.aws/#/createCalculator to get a rough estimate of what cost you may incur.
No, you cannot avoid the cost. If you start loading them into the ec2 machine that cost is free (assuming same region etc.) but then transferring the data from the ec2 instances does cost again.
I'm not clear how Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration accelerates S3 file transfers.
I've been using https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/transfer-acceleration.html to refer to.
Supposing there is fileA in us-east-1, a user A in the UK, and there's a link to that fileA S3 endpoint.
Here's my understanding of how it works:
Before enabling Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration user A would click on that link to fileA and it might take 10 seconds.
After enabling Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration user A would click on that link to fileA and it might take 7 seconds.
I'm not clear how Amazon would achieve that reduction in time. It still has to get from the bucket to the user and goes over the public internet.
Or does Amazon intercept the link, move the file to a local CDN server in the meantime, then return a 302 to the new file location?
Under Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration, the user is directed to the closest AWS endpoint and the request travels across the AWS network, which would have less hops and less traffic than the normal Internet.

Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration enables fast, easy, and secure transfers of files over long distances between your client and an S3 bucket. Transfer Acceleration takes advantage of Amazon CloudFront’s globally distributed edge locations. As the data arrives at an edge location, data is routed to Amazon S3 over an optimized network path.
According the the Amazon S3 FAQ, Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration leverages Amazon CloudFront’s globally distributed AWS Edge Locations. As data arrives at an AWS Edge Location, data is routed to your Amazon S3 bucket over an optimized network path.
However, this will not always lead to an increase in transfer speed. Each time you use S3 Transfer Acceleration to upload an object, AWS will check whether S3 Transfer Acceleration is likely to be faster than a regular Amazon S3 transfer. If AWS determines that S3 Transfer Acceleration is not likely to be faster than a regular Amazon S3 transfer of the same object to the same destination AWS Region, they will not charge for the use of S3 Transfer Acceleration for that transfer, and may bypass the S3 Transfer Acceleration system for that upload.
AWS S3 has a standard public bucket and folder (Asia Pacific region) which hosts ~30 GB of images/media. On another hand, the website and app access these images by using a direct S3 object URL. Unknowingly we run into high data transfer cost and its significantly unproportionate:

AWS Data Transfer: USD 110
I have also read that if EC2 and S3 is in the same region cost will be significantly lower, but problem is S3 objects are accessible from anywhere in the world from client machine directly and no EC2 is involved in between.
Can someone please suggest how can data transfer costs be reduced?
The Data Transfer charge is directly related to the amount of information that goes from AWS to the Internet. Depending on your region, it is typically charged at 9c/GB.
If you are concerned about the Data Transfer charge, there are a few things you could do:
Activate Amazon S3 Server Access Logging, which will create a log file for each web request. You can then see how many requests are coming and possibly detect strange access behaviour (eg bots, search engines, abuse).
You could try reducing the size of files that are typically accessed, such as making images smaller. Take a look at the Access Logs and determine which objects are being accessed the most, and are therefore causing the most costs.
Use less large files on your website (eg videos). Again, look at the Access Logs to determine where the data is being used.
A cost of $110 suggests about 1.2TB of data being transferred.
I have a requirement to transfer data(one time) from on prem to AWS S3. The data size is around 1 TB. I was going through AWS Datasync, Snowball etc... But these managed services are better to migrate if the data is in petabytes. Can someone suggest me the best way to transfer the data in a secured way cost effectively
You can use the AWS Command-Line Interface (CLI). This command will copy data to Amazon S3:
aws s3 sync c:/MyDir s3://my-bucket/
If there is a network failure or timeout, simply run the command again. It only copies files that are not already present in the destination.
The time taken will depend upon the speed of your Internet connection.
You could also consider using AWS Snowball, which is a piece of hardware that is sent to your location. It can hold 50TB of data and costs $200.
If you have no specific requirements (apart from the fact that it needs to be encrypted and the file-size is 1TB) then I would suggest you stick to something plain and simple. S3 supports an object size of 5TB so you wouldn't run into trouble. I don't know if your data is made up of many smaller files or 1 big file (or zip) but in essence its all the same. Since the end-points or all encrypted you should be fine (if your worried, you can encrypt your files before and they will be encrypted while stored (if its backup of something). To get to the point, you can use API tools for transfer or just file-explorer type of tools which have also connectivity to S3 (e.g. https://www.cloudberrylab.com/explorer/amazon-s3.aspx). some other point: cost-effectiviness of storage/transfer all depends on how frequent you need the data, if just a backup or just in case. archiving to glacier is much cheaper.
1 TB is large but it's not so large that it'll take you weeks to get your data onto S3. However if you don't have a good upload speed, use Snowball.

Snowball is a device shipped to you which can hold up to 100TB. You load your data onto it and ship it back to AWS and they'll upload it to the S3 bucket you specify when loading the data.
This can be done in multiple ways.
