Django Rest Framework URL Mapping for multiple apps - django

I have a django-rest project called main and under it I have created an app called users. So, my project has the files :-
main/main/urls.py
and
main/users/urls.py
In users/urls.py I have
from django.conf.urls import url, include
from rest_framework import routers
from users import views
router = routers.DefaultRouter()
router.register(r'users', views.UserViewSet)
and in the main/main/urls.py I have
from django.conf.urls import url
from django.contrib import admin
from users import urls
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'^users/', users.urls),
]
However, I keep getting the error NameError: name 'users' is not defined. What is the correct way to set up urls when I have multiple apps? I would like to have a urls.py file for each app that is independent of the project. And in the root urls.py would include routing to different apps.

You import url not user, can try it
from users import urls as users_url
# ^^^^^^^^
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'^users/', users_url),
# ^^^^^^^
]
but better:
from django.conf.urls import url, include
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'^users/', include('users.url')),
# ^^^^^^^
]

How to resolve an error 404 for django-social?

I want to be able to login through social media. Followed all the steps (registered app), the login works just fine but does not go through because django does not recognize my url.
This is my call to the api endpoint
facebookLogin(token: string):any{
return this.http.post(environment.api + 'fblogin/', {token:this.token}).subscribe(
(onSucess:any) => {
localStorage.setItem(this._tokenKey, onSucess.token)
}, onFail => {
console.log(onFail)
}
);
}
But I get the following error : POST http://127.0.0.1:8000/api/fblogin/ 404 (Not Found). From this I know there to be something wrong with my django urls. And indeed going to http://127.0.0.1:8000/api/fblogin/ gave me a page not found error and that it tried to match several other urls.
However I can't see what is wrong with my urls
URLS in my app
from django.conf.urls import url, include
from rest_framework import routers
from . import views
from rest_framework_jwt.views import obtain_jwt_token, refresh_jwt_token
from social_django import urls
router = routers.DefaultRouter()
router.register(r'users', views.UserViewSet)
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^', include(router.urls)),
url(r'fblogin/', include(urls)),
url(r'auth/', obtain_jwt_token),
url(r'refresh/', refresh_jwt_token)
]
URLS in my project
from django.contrib import admin
from django.urls import path, include
urlpatterns = [
path('admin/', admin.site.urls),
path('api/', include('Backend.api.urls'))
]
Other URLS like http://127.0.0.1:8000/api/users/ do work. I also am under the impression that all of my settings are in order.
I suggest that I might be because of the order and way in which you have defined URLs.py try the below format
from django.conf.urls import url, include
from rest_framework import routers
from . import views
from rest_framework_jwt.views import obtain_jwt_token, refresh_jwt_token
from social_django import urls
router = routers.DefaultRouter()
router.register(r'users', views.UserViewSet)
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^fblogin/', include(urls)),
url(r'^auth/', obtain_jwt_token),
url(r'^refresh/', refresh_jwt_token)
] + router.urls

Preview custom 500 error page in Wagtail?

I've made custom 500 and 404 error pages in Wagtail. I can preview the 404 page by typing in a false url. I'm just wondering how I can preview the 500 page?
The custom page has links to static images that I need to check are working.
My urls.py
from django.conf import settings
from django.conf.urls import include, url
from django.conf.urls.static import static
from django.contrib import admin
from wagtail.contrib.sitemaps.views import sitemap
from wagtail.admin import urls as wagtailadmin_urls
from wagtail.core import urls as wagtail_urls
from wagtail.documents import urls as wagtaildocs_urls
admin.autodiscover()
urlpatterns = [
url(r'django-admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'^admin/', include(wagtailadmin_urls)),
url(r'^documents/', include(wagtaildocs_urls)),
url(r'^sitemap\.xml$', sitemap),
url(r'', include('puput.urls')),
url(r'', include(wagtail_urls)),
]
urlpatterns += static(settings.MEDIA_URL, document_root=settings.MEDIA_ROOT)
if 'debug_toolbar' in settings.INSTALLED_APPS:
import debug_toolbar
urlpatterns += [
url(r'^__debug__/', include(debug_toolbar.urls)),
]
The answer at https://stackoverflow.com/a/24660486/823020 has most of these details. You can make a view that raises a 500 error.
You can add a views.py to any app. In that file (taken directly from the linked answer):
from django.http import HttpResponseServerError
def my_test_500_view(request):
# Return an "Internal Server Error" 500 response code.
return HttpResponseServerError()
Supplement this in your urls.py with:
from django.conf import settings
from django.urls import path
# or for Django 1.x do
# from django.urls import url
from myapp import views
urlpatterns = [
# original content here
]
if settings.DEBUG:
urlpatterns += [
path('test_500/', views.my_test_500_view, name="test_500"),
# or for Django 1.x do
# url(r'^test_500/$', views.my_test_500_view, name="test_500"),
]
If it's not directly related to any Wagtail pages, then a utils Django app can work well for generic shared code.
Just add url with TemplateView to your urls.py:
from django.views.generic import TemplateView
urlpatterns = [
url(r"^admin/", include(wagtailadmin_urls)),
url(r"^documents/", include(wagtaildocs_urls)),
url(r"^500/", TemplateView.as_view(template_name='500.html')),
]

How to fix "error path not found" in django rest framework

I am trying to build an API of my blogging website using Django rest framework, but my URL is not matching.
I am trying Django Rest framework for the first time so I am not quite able to fix this. But I think I mess this up in url_patterns.
Here is my URL code from the main directory(the directory which contains settings.py) .
`
from django.conf.urls import url,include
from django.contrib import admin
from django.urls import path, include
from blog import views
from rest_framework import routers
router = routers.DefaultRouter()
router.register(r'apipost',views.PostViewSet)
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'',include('blog.urls')),
path('api-auth/',include('rest_framework.urls',namespace='rest_framework')),
]
`
I am trying url http://127.0.0.1:8000/apipost and expect to get value in json format.
You need to add router.urls to your urlpatterns.
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls),
url(r'',include('blog.urls')),
path('api-auth/',include('rest_framework.urls',namespace='rest_framework')),
]
urlpatterns += router.urls
Django REST Framework Won't magically register your router in urlpatterns, you have to do it by yourself. You can use urlpatterns += router.urls if you want to add them to the root of your urlpatterns, or url(r'^api/', include((router.urls, 'app_name'))), if you want to set subpath for them.

Routing error: trying to route a defined route in urls.py

I encountered a strange behavior of Django urls. Although forecast/upload url is defined in the urls.py, Django is saying
Page not found (404)
Request Method: POST
Request URL: http://localhost:8000/forecast/upload/
Using the URLconf defined in myproject.urls, Django tried these URL patterns, in this order:
polls/
admin/
forecast/ [name='index']
forecast/ **forecast/upload/** [name='upload']
forecast/ help.html [name='help']
The current path, **forecast/upload/**, didn't match any of these.
Project url.py:
from django.contrib import admin
from django.urls import include, path
from django.conf.urls import url
urlpatterns = [
path('polls/', include('polls.urls')),
path('admin/', admin.site.urls),
path('forecast/', include('forecast.urls')),
]
Application urls.py:
from django.urls import path
from . import views
urlpatterns = [
path('', views.index, name='index'),
#url(r'^$', views.home, name="home"),
path('forecast/upload/', views.upload, name="upload"),
path('help.html', views.help, name="help"),
]
You have specified "forecast" twice; once at project level and once in the app. So your URL would be "forecast/forecast/upload".
Presumably, you don't want that, in which case you should remove the "forecast" from the pattern in the app urls.

Adding a new url gives error

In my urls.py I have this.
from django.conf.urls import include, url
from django.contrib import admin
from django.conf import settings
from django.conf.urls.static import static
from events import views as eviews
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^user/', include('accounts.urls')),
url(r'^admin/', include(admin.site.urls)),
url(r'^$', eviews.events_list, name='events_list'),
url(r'^(?P<o_type>[-\w]+)/$',
eviews.events_list,
name='events_list_by_org'),
url(r'^(?P<id>\d+)/(?P<slug>[-\w]+)/$',
eviews.event_detail, name='event_detail'),
]
when I add the "user" url which is at first line in urlpatterns, it shows error on line 26 which is "events_list_by_org" url. When I comment out or remove 'user' url it works fine but shows error when it's included.
Try separating your event urls like your accounts url inside account app, and adding namespece to accounts and events.
urls.py in core
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^user/', include('accounts.urls', namespace='accounts')),
url(r'^event/', include('event.urls', namespace='event')),
]
urls.py in event app
urlpatterns = [
url(r'^$', eviews.events_list, name='events_list'),
url(r'^(?P<o_type>[-\w]+)/$',
eviews.events_list,
name='events_list_by_org'),
url(r'^(?P<id>\d+)/(?P<slug>[-\w]+)/$',
eviews.event_detail, name='event_detail'),
]
Maybe it's because of follwoing namespaces, so trying your namespace to user urls.
