We got one server which runs a vmware esxi and also holds two other VMs. When we try to reboot the desktop, we encounter this error below:
I tried to do another reboot to enter the BIOS setup. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the boot sequence but below is the current set-up:
I'm really not a infra or systems admin person and appreciate any resolutions to resolve the problem. I previously only access the server through the vSphere client. Apologies if my jargons aren't correct.
Thanks!
I had same problem, first tried the recovery (Shift+R) it also failed. Then restarted and while loading countdown for boot i hit enter then it went successful boot.

I am trying to install Oracle Client 19c when i starts the installation its freezes at stage 1, checked logs it hangs on "INFO: Checking whether the IP address of the localhost could be determined...", i refer some article to skip stage mentioned step but it also stuck on stage 7.
My System is in Domain
I tried the installation on recently formatted System and it worked with antivirus.
also tried to disable the Antivirus from my system but faced the same freezing issues. if unjoin the Domain and try it works.
I suspect the issue with any Domain Policy but dont understand the which policy is creating the problem, please suggest the solution.
If you are seeing "Reading from the pipe" message in ...\Inventory\logs OUT files then, login Windows with an admin account and run the services called "Server" and "Workstation".
I am facing some issues with GCP and the AI Platform (Jupyterlab)
It seems that I am unable to maintain a stable connection with the server for a long time. I keep getting those 'server connection error' message. From there two possibilities:
either nothing happens and my cell keeps running
or
the cells have stopped running and I can see the status 'No Kernel!' on the top right of the notebook. Whenever I select a kernel (python 3) again, depending on my luck I can either keep working, or the cell will display the running status (with the * on the left of it) but the kernel status on the bottom left will stay on : 'connected' (instead of 'busy'). For the latter, I need to restart the kernel and run all the cells again, which can be very long.
Sometimes this happens as soon as I run the first cell after (re)starting the instance, sometimes a bit later. The longest stable period I was able to work on the notebook without any issue was 20, 30-ish minutes, which is quite annoying.
Configuration of my main instance :
- 16 CPUs
- 60gb of RAM
- A P100 NVIDIA GPU
I have tried different types of instance and I keep having the same problem, network at home is stable.

What operating system and browser are you using at work?
I had the same problem as you did on Ubuntu 18 with the Firefox browser.
When I switched to Windows with Chrome the error did not reoccur, even though it was the same network.
I had a similar issue today: according to the google docs the cause for this is that the docker/ Jupyter service is not starting.
The cause why these services couldn't be started in our specific case was a full disk.
When attempting to forcely uninstall a software from the server, I switched off these two components from MSCONFIG.EXE:
MSConfig Screenshot
After rebooting the server, it doesn't respond anymore to RDP connections.
The Google Cloud Panel shows that the server is running, has an internal and external IP Address, but I cannot access it by any means. I already rebooted, stopped and started it many times.
This is the output for SERIAL PORT #1:

I am able to connect to SERIAL PORT #2, to try a deeper troubleshooting, but the first message after connection is this:
Computer is booting, SAC started and initialized
And when trying to open CMD command, this is the response:
SAC>cmd
Error: Unable to launch a Command Prompt. The service responsible for launching
Command Prompt channels has not yet registered. This may be because the
service is not yet started, is disabled by the administrator, is
malfunctioning or is unresponsive.
Does anyone know how to recover this server?
Thanks!
You unselected "Load system services". This means that nothing is loaded in Windows. The services that are required so that you can access the system remotely are not running.
You have two options:
Mount the disk on another Windows system, mount the registry and change the settings for these two items (I don't rember but this information is on the Internet). Then unmount the registry and create another VM with the disk.
Create a new instance and attach this disk as the second disk drive. Copy all the data from the second drive to the first drive. You will loose system settings, applications, etc but at least you can save your data.
Using vSphere Update Manager I've installed some updates and patches onto my host, however I have an issue with it picking up a datastore now so I want to roll back these changes to see if that fixes the issue.
From my research I understand that you can't uninstall these patches and you have to revert back to a previous ESXi version. I'm attempting to do this following the steps here: https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1033604
However it does not give reference on how to access the Console for the Host. I can't find a way to access it in vSphere, but found a way by downloading putty and running the DCUI command.
The problem I have is that it says Reboot and then:
When the Hypervisor progress bar starts loading, press Shift+R.
However when I reboot putty loses connection to the host (presumably because it is rebooting) so I never get to see the boot up screen and Hypervisor progress bar to press Shift+R.
Am I missing something simple here? Server is Dell running ESXi 5.5. Thank you.
Dell ilo interface shall provide you the recover(Shift+R) while rebooting and hence rollback option.
The default credentials for dell ilo would be,
username : root
pwd : calvin
The steps to achieve this would be as follow,
Get ur ILO link, please see if below link is useful to you in this regard.
https://www.dell.com/community/Systems-Management/How-to-get-the-DRAC-IP-address-from-the-localhost/td-p/2374426
otherway would be ping your server FQDN and it would return the ILO IP.
Once you find ilo url or IP, login to it using above mentioned default login credentials(root/calvin).
Now, in ILO interface find the option to launch the console (server -> Virtual console preview -> Launch).
Save the JNLP file and run it.
Further, Press F12 for "Shout down /restart"
Here onward I believe you will get it.
Thanks,
Manjunath.
I am newbie to VMware. When I am longing into the VCenter I am getting "Connection time out" in first 3 attempts, after 3 attempts I am able to Login to VCenter.
I did some troubleshoot and in vcenter changed the Client to server time extended to 300sec. But still I am facing same issue. Can anyone please help me how to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance
Are you connecting by IP or hostname? Make sure DNS is OK. Are you using a standalone MSSQL server? Windows server built-in MSSQL? Is this VCSA (linux appliance)?
If Windows, did you reboot everything? Slowness within vCenter can indicate a sql issue of sorts. Check all applicable items for available resources, including disk space on all partitions.
