Intellij show intention actions [Alt + Enter] doesn't work - unit-testing

The problem occurred after I had added Groovy Unit Testing .jar to my project (it is sole activity I suppose which could 'damage' my Intellij but it is quite likely that the reason is something else because the problem is global - it appears in all projects).
For example I get message like this:
but after I press Alt+Enter nothing happen.
If I append another keyboard shortcut for "show intention actions" it doesn't work either. However if I append Alt+Enter with another action then that another action works properly using this shortcut.
It is also interesting that shortcut Alt+Enter is reserved not only for action "show intention actions", but if I remove another associations it still doesn't work.
Every intentions in Intellij are enabled and power save mode is disabled.
I have read
IntelliJ, Alt+Enter doesnt work
Auto errors detection in IntelliJ IDEA
but it doesn't solve my problem.

Your IntelliJ IDEA installation seems to be corrupted, some jars are missing.
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: groovy.lang.Closure PluginClassLoader[org.intellij.groovy, 9.0]
The solution would be reinstall the same version you have from this link or install the current version.

The solution was: missing groovy-all-2.4.6.jar file in my /home/user/idea-IU-162.2228.15/lib folder.
How have I removed it?
According to jetbrains page I chose Groovy JUnit test library and press fix. After few minutes I decided not to use Groovy JUnit so I deleted this library from my project, but in practice I removed .jar from my folder and that was the reason why alt+enter didn't work. After the .jar is restored everything is as normal.
Thank you CrazyCoder and liro Alhonen

You don't have the libraries stated that you are using. You can do this manually if it does not fill them automatically. It should if you select from the list and hit enter.

In my case i just try to use left alt:
LEFT Alt + Enter
LEFT Alt+Enter
Looks like some languages override Right Alt behavior, at least in
case of Lithuanian Left Alt is working fine with Lithuanian enabled,
Right does not, when switch to English, everything is fine again. Was
pulling hair to figure out why out of nowhere it stops working, thanks

I hava same problem that can not auto import package by ALT+ENTER in MacOS. solved by next step:
Preferences --> Editor --> Intentions
search Refactorings
enable introduce local variable

Issue in getting started on corda

Referred below link
https://docs.corda.net/releases/release-M10.1/tutorial-cordapp.html
Click open, then navigate to the folder where you cloned the cordapp-tutorial and click OK.
Next, IntelliJ will show a bunch of pop-up windows. One of which requires our attention:
Click the ‘import gradle project’ link. A dialogue will pop-up. Press OK. Gradle will now obtain all the project dependencies and perform some indexing. It usually takes a minute or so. If you miss the ‘import gradle project’ dialogue, simply close and re-open IntelliJ again to see it again.
Question: I can't find the link. And there were no pop up windows. I followed the instructions. Don't know why I am stuck
First of all, you should refer to M13 or M14 and check out on it, second "Question: I can't find the link." it's not a question....please provide a more detailed one

Visual Studio 2017 (15.3.1) keeps hanging/freezing

I have recently installed Visual Studio 15.3.1 Community Edition (although I suspect this affects all editions). When doing actions such as
closing SQL .sql file tabs
copying or renaming files
other actions which I can't pinpoint
Visual Studio will freeze or hang for a few seconds or permanantly. It sometimes displays "(Not Responding)" in the title bar, but not always. This is getting really frustrating.
It seems like the Visual Studio feedback system is at fault. Turning it off solved my problem.
Open Visual Studio
Navigate to Help > Privacy > Privacy Settings
Select the "No, I would not like to participate" radio button and click OK
Hopefully whatever bug is causing this issue will be fixed soon and I'll happily participate in the feedback program again!
See this issue posted a lot on the MS forums.
I struggled with it for a while. When editing XAML files, it would always freeze and hang.
Tried many solutions that didn't fixed it. Then, I found the solution that did fix it for me.
I made two changes at the same time, so I can't say for sure which one solved it, but I can guess.
First change, which probably isn't the fix, is that I added the registry keys from this page. They were missing on my system. Page has a lot of detail, but having those keys set properly can't hurt. I noticed in Process Monitor that it was missing on the following regkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Setup\CachePath
Second change I made, the one I'm guessing solved the issue, was deleting the 17k+ ".TRN" files inside the following directory:
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\VSApplicationInsights\
On my computer they were in something like the following:
C:\Users\Michael\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VSApplicationInsights\vstelXXX_SOMEGUID
Going back to check now, and after three-or-so hours of work there's another 475 files in that folder. It's producing about four or five .TRN files a minute, all with encrypted data inside. Not going to speculate as to the purpose of it, but I doubt it's anything good or useful. Deleted all those, and the XAML editor in VS now works fine, or at least as well as it ever did. No more 30+ second hangs on a modern twentysome core workstation.
In the recent update of VS 2022, the program suddenly starts freezing (randomly) and the fix for me was to turn off inline hints (the thing that pops up when you double click Ctrl key).
I'm using VS for C++ so I turned it off for C++ specifically
Go to the Tools menu tab -> Options

WebStorm opens files on AutoScroll to source

wondering if I could have the same behavior as Brackets like it previews the code on the right side but only opens the file if we do some edits.
Helpful when I'm just going through the files and not really changing anything but then at the end I've to close all.
Is there a setting in web storm that can help achieve the same behavior like brackets
Currently I may only suggest to use View | Quick Definition to preview file content instead of opening (has to be invoked for each file, which is possibly not what you are willing to do).
Other than that: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-130918 -- star/vote/comment to get notified on progress.
P.S.
As stated in this comment they seems to worked on something like that already but quite possibly did not finished it for IDEA v14 release: in build 138.2502 there was an option to open file in "preview panel" first (and if satisfied -- move to editor) instead of opening in editor straight away. But it still a bit different to what Sublime does.

Visual Studio 2010 Improperly underlining code/comments with red error line when there is no error

I am working on a rather large project, and I am having strange problems with the IDE in terms of error checking and somewhat with IntelliSense.
Usually if I were to type something boneheaded, like "int a = "aa";", it would underline "aa" in red. However I am seeing VS do this to random parts of my code when I make insignificant changes.
For example:
/*
Some comment here, just going to stretch it out for my example..
*/
int proto1();
int proto2();
If I make changes to other parts of the project, sometimes random functions will get underlined, and even part of a comment. Like just 30 minutes ago it underlined the equivalent of half of that comment beginning in the middle of the word "comment", also it underlined all of int proto1(); and part of int proto2();
I would post screenshots but I am bound by contract not to disclose any work, and I can't easily replicate it in smaller projects.
I don't understand why it does this. When I compile the project, any fake errors and underlining it did goes away and it compiles fine. The point though, is there are no errors. It's making up random errors and underlining random lines/words/half words. I would also like to note that there seems to be a large delay in loading new intellisense information, almost by 2-3 minutes or longer.
I'll try and reproduce it in an unrelated project and post here if I can. However, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
*Edit: Forgot to note that hitting the space key several times will on occasion correct the errors however this isn't reliable and does not always work.
Intellisense sometimes can really get stuck with complicated code. I guess until VS2012 release comes out, there's nothing we can do.
There's however one trick that I'm using if this happens - switch your build configuration Debug -> Release and then back again. You don't have to wait, you can just click two times on this drop-down box. It should refresh IS cache and make red error underlines dissappear.
Intellisense is often off, but make sure you have latest updates installed.
I just installed sp1 yesterday and lot of Intellisense issues went way.
I see this is a stale question but some may find this helpful.
I just had this same issue. I tried many of the solutions outlined here and elsewhere. I finally tried running Visual Studio as another user (Shift Right Click Run As Different User) and the issue did not present. I then logged into my computer as another user and deleted the profile of the user I was having the issue with.
If your profile is important to you or there is information within it that is important I highly recommend backing up relevant information first. If you don't understand what information you profile contains make sure you do prior to deleting it.
1) Log in as different user (with admin privileges) than you want to delete
2) Open Properties for Computer
3) Advanced system settings (on the left side)
4) Settings for User Profiles (in the middle)
5) Select the profile you want to delete and click the delete button
6) Reboot

I had the same issue, and in my case it was mostly related to library functions and types defined in libraries. This one fixed it for me:
Open command line parameters. You can use following to reach there:
Project > ProjectName Properties > Configuration Properties > Linker > Command Line
In the Additional Options box at the bottom add
/I "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\include"
You will of course need the correct path where Visual Studio is installed.
Bingo! I hope it works for you too. :)

How do you enable auto-complete functionality in Visual Studio C++ express edition?

Please guide me, how do you enable autocomplete functionality in VS C++? By auto-complete, I mean, when I put a dot after control name, the editor should display a dropdown menu to select from.
Thank you.
Start writing, then just press CTRL+SPACE and there you go ...
When you press ctrl + space, look in the Status bar below.. It will display a message saying IntelliSense is unavailable for C++ / CLI, if it doesn't support it.. The message will look like this -
It's enabled by default. Probably you just tried on an expression that failed to autocomplete.
In case you deactivated it somehow... you can enable it in the Visual Studio settings. Just browse to the Editor settings, then to the subgroup C/C++ and activate it again... should read something like "List members automatically" or "Auto list members" (sorry, I have the german Visual Studio).
Upon typing something like std::cout. a dropwdownlist with possible completitions should pop up.
All the answers were missing Ctrl-J (which enables and disables autocomplete).
Goto => Tools >> Options >> Text Editor >> C/C++ >> Advanced >>
IntelliSense
Change => Member List Commit Aggressive to True
VS is kinda funny about C++ and IntelliSense. There are times it won't notice that it's supposed to be popping up something. This is due in no small part to the complexity of the language, and all the compiling (or at least parsing) that'd need to go on in order to make it better.
If it doesn't work for you at all, and it used to, and you've checked the VS options, maybe this can help.
Have you tried Visual Assist X ? Sort of lights up the VS editor.
I came across over the following post:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/raulperez/archive/2010/03/19/c-intellisense-options.aspx
The issue is that the "IntelliSense" option in c++ is disabled.
This link explains about the IntelliSense database configuration and options.
After enabling the database you must close and reopen visual studio
for autocomplete use 'ctrl'+'space'
'ctrl'+'space' will open C/C++ autocomplete.
Include the class that you are using Within your text file, then intelliSense will know where to look when you type within your text file. This works for me.
So it’s important to check the Unreal API to see where the included class is so that you have the path to type on the include line. Hope that makes sense.
It's enabled by default. Probably you just tried on an expression that failed to autocomplete.
In case you deactivated it somehow... you can enable it in the Visual Studio settings.
Step 1: Go to settings
Step 2: Search for complete and enable all the auto complete functions
I believe that show help
