Visual Studio 2015 Community to Visual Studio 2017 Pro - visual-studio-2017

I am testing Visual Studio 2017 Pro. During this I loaded a VS 2015 Community project and tried to create a unit test. I was unable to see the "Create Unit Tests" menu when clicking on a public sub in the context menu. However, when I create a new project in 2017 Pro I am able to.
Anyone know if it is possible or how to make this happen so that I can create unit test in a project that was created in VS 2015 community and loaded in VS 2017 Pro? The VS 2017 Pro is Version 15.01 (26403.7) release, the framework is version 4.6.01055.
The project is in VB.net.

VS 2017 won't open VS 2015 ETL solution

I inherited a project that was created in Visual Studio 2015 with SQL Server Data Tools version 14.
I'm running VS 2017 version 15.6.0 with SQL Server Data Tools 15.1.61801.210
When I try to open the solution it just fails with the below error message. What do I need to do in order to "upgrade" the solution so I can work with it?

- LabSOR, "C:\Users\GROSCH\Documents\LabSOR\ETL\LabSOR_SSIS\LabSOR\LabSOR.dtproj"
No changes required
These projects can be opened in Visual Studio 2015, Visual Studio 2013, Visual Studio 2012, and Visual Studio 2010 SP1 without changing them.

Ended up the SSDT integration elements hadn't installed. Once I did that I could right-click on the project in the solution explorer and reload it, and then it started working.

I upgraded C++ projects from Visual Studio 2010 to 2015 still its showing Visual Studio (2010)

The configuration window image. Just click on it.
I upgraded C++ projects from Visual Studio 2010 to Visual Studio 2015, but it's still showing (Visual Studio 2010) in the Solution Explorer.
Please inform me if there is any change I need to do to solve this error.
This is displayed in the Solution Explorer:
This is not an error, it simply means that the project is using the toolkit that came with Visual Studio 2010. This doesn't prevent your projects from being compiled however.
To upgrade the project to the Visual Studio 2015 toolkit right click on the projects showing (Visual Studio 2010) and select the desired toolkit under General->Platform Toolset.

Is it possible to apply fixes on Visual C++ Build Tools 2015 Update 3

Visual Studio 2015u3 is serviced by cumulative updates with KB3165756, which contains, among other things, fixes to the C++ compiler and libraries.
However KB3165756 refuses to do anything on a computer where Visual C++ Build Tools 2015 Update 3 is installed. It really wants one of VS Pro, Enterprise, Community or Express.
Are there special patches for Visual C++ Build Tools, or is it not updated at all and so it is actually a better idea to switch to Visual Studio Express 2015 for Desktop, in order to be able to receive patches?
Here is the answer I got on MSDN Visual Studio Development > Visual Studio Setup and Installation forum:
However KB3165756 refuses to do anything on a computer where Visual C++ Build Tools 2015 Update 3 is installed. It really wants one of VS Pro, Enterprise, Community or Express.
It is reasonable, check this: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt752379.aspx and it describes this update is applies to
Visual Studio Professional 2015
Visual Studio Enterprise 2015
Visual Studio Community 2015
Visual Studio Express 2015 for Web
Visual Studio Express 2015 for Desktop
Visual Studio Express 2015 for Windows 10
I have researched around and it looks like there is no special update for the Visual C++ Build Tools 2015, and refer to this blog: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/vcblog/2015/11/02/announcing-visual-c-build-tools-2015-standalone-c-tools-for-build-environments/
The latest release of the Visual C++ Build Tools 2015 is here: Download Visual C++ Build Tools 2015
If you still want to install, it looks like you need a VS 2015 RTM update version on your computer. Since the VS community 2015 with update 2 and Visual Studio Express version are free and you can think about it.
Best regards,
Sara

Share project between Visual Studio 2013 and Visual Studio 2012

I am using Visual Studio 2013 community and created C++ project.
I want to share the project with a colleague working with Visual Studio 2012 professional.
Once he took the project he had to change the toolset to v110 and it worked just fine for him.
When he shared it back with me I got the message:
error MSB8020: The build tools for Visual Studio 2012 (Platform Toolset = 'v110') cannot be found.
To build using the v110 build tools, please install Visual Studio 2012 build tools.
Alternatively, you may upgrade to the current Visual Studio tools by selecting the Project menu or right-click the solution, and then selecting "Upgrade Solution...".
I do not want to upgrade the solution, as that will cause us each time to change the project, but I couldn't find anywhere to download the VS2012 build tools.
Where can I find Visual Studio 2012 build tools?
You can have both Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio 2013 installed on the same machine. Once you have both installed you can use the Visual Studio 2012 compiler in Visual Studio 2013.
So I suggest you install Visual Studio 2012. I think Express edition should be enough.
Alternatively, your colleague can install Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition alongside his existing Visual Studio 2012 Professional Edition. I think the features are roughly equivalent the only question is if they are breaking the license terms.

Visual Studio 2013 cannot convert VS 2012 C++ Projects

All my C++ Visual Studio 2012 projects cannot be upgraded by VS 2013 Professional Update 2, microsoft tells that you also need to have VS2012 installed in order to open VS 2012 projects.
The problem is that I have installed VS2012 and still get the same error.
after each project name in VS 2013 I have (Project incompatible), I want to convert the projects to VS2013 because I don't want to use VS2012 anymore.

I found somewhere on a forum that if you install VS 2012 SDK it should work, but the VS2012 SDK cannot be installed because it cannot find Visual Studio 2012
