I was trying to upload an image using Sitecore [Version 6.5] media library to my existing sitecore website. I see the Advance Upload Files option is completly missing. Later, I tried to install a default sitecore instance and I see the Advanced Upload option is there. But it is completely missing to the existing sitecore website.
Here, is the snapshot of my site where the Advanced upload option is completely missing:
And here is the snapshot of my default sitecore site where the Advanced upload option is there:
To fix this, I tried to change couple of configuration files. But still the same issue. The Advanced upload files option is completely missing. Did you face the same type of issue or if you know how to fix this issue, can you please share your thoughts. Or if I need to change any of the configuration files, then can you share your thoughts about that change of any of the configuration file?
Thanks
Upload files (Advanced) button is hidden in 2 cases:
Folder does not use Media Folder template. Just check your folders - maybe they use standard Folder template instead of Media Folder.
Upload.Classic setting is set to false. Open /sitecore/admin/showconfig.aspx and look for Upload.Classic value. When it's set to true, Sitecore uses flash upload instead.
If none of above is the case, maybe you have some custom code which hides Upload files (Advanced) button from you editors.

First of all, thank you for everything that you do. Without this community, I would hate web design and be reliant on my teacher's outdated, static methods. Much love <3
So, this is a tricky one (maybe).
I want to have, essentially, an iframe on a webpage that contains a website I coded previously. It was a project for school that never went live, but I'd like to include it as part of my portfolio. Problem is, an iframe needs a URL for a source, but I just have the folder with more folders full of code, fonts, and images. How can I tell the browser to populate this box with everything from "name" folder? And then how will it know to run the code instead of just showing a file tree or something?
In the end, I want a page describing a previous web project and let the client experience that project within the one page. And I don't want to get a domain for every project I do.
Maybe there's an easier way I'm not thinking of?
To make it interesting, my new portfolio site is being made in Squarespace...maybe. I bought a domain from them because I had a promo code and wanted to try the platform, but I kind of hate it. I can't change any of the code and it won't maintain a connection to Typekit. So all I can do is change the basic appearance of preexisting elements. It's like WordPress all over again....LAME! Sadly, I already bought the domain.
Can Squarespace just be a host? Is there a way to download the raw code of these templates, edit it, and upload it again?
Thanks for all your help!
I want to have, essentially, an iframe on a webpage that contains a
website I coded previously.
Squarespace's file upload mechanism is very limited. Without using the Developers Platform, there is no effective way to upload many files at once. Furthermore, there is no way to create folders. Therefore, even if you were willing to upload each .html file and each asset one-by-one, there'd be no way to organize the files into folders (assuming that the "tree" you mentioned includes additional sub-folders).
Initially, in order to get the files to be accessible by Squarespace, you'd have to do one of the following:
Use Squarespace Developers Platform (A.K.A. "Developer Mode") and upload your to-be-iframed
(TBI) website files to the "assets" folder using SFTP or Git.
Host your TBI website files somewhere else (a different host
environment, for example) which will maintain your file/folder
structure.
How can I tell the browser to populate this box with everything from
"name" folder? And then how will it know to run the code instead of
just showing a file tree or something?
Assuming that the TBI website has an index.html file or home.html file or similar, and assuming you were to use the Squarespace Developer Platform, you'd insert the iframe either in a Code Block or within a template/.region file directly using something like
<iframe src="/assets/tbiwebsitefolder/index.html"></iframe>
while setting your other iframe attributes (such as height and width) as needed.
Is there a way to download the raw code of these templates, edit it,
and upload it again?
Yes. You select a template and then enable Developer Mode on that template. From there, you use SFTP or Git to download the template files, edit, and reupload.
You may benefit by reviewing some considerations of enabling Developer Mode on a Squarespace Template.
One other idea, to avoid the iframe and Developer Mode entirely, would be to capture images of the TBI website rendered in a browser, and then simply add those images to a gallery block or gallery page. This could allow you to convey the general idea of the project but would of course not capture the full "experience" of it.
I am a new bee to Sitecore and here comes my first challenge at work.
In one of the website component, I want to add an image.
For this in content editor:
I'll click on browse.
Switch to folder view.
Navigate down to the folder you want to save into.
Click upload media on top left.
Click ‘Browse for media files’ and navigate to the image on the local drive and select it.
Enter alt-text and click upload media.
In Chrome the green bar for uploading never seems to finish. On IE one of the green bars changes to ‘Upload complete’. At this point there is no call to action to add the image to the module, select the module – you just don’t know what to do next.
Eventually you have to click ‘Back’ or ‘close’. Then when you go to find the image it is not in the folder you selected. It is in Upload folder. We cannot keep all of our files in ‘Upload’. We need to be able to upload into a chosen folder.
I am using Sitecore 7.2.
This works properly in a base site in Sitecore 7.2, but is not working in my website.
Is there any setting I need to change to make this work properly?
I know we can add media files into Media library directly and can use it. But we want to do it the using the above mentioned steps/ or using Page editor. The main problem is, this doesn't work while adding image from Page editor.
Hope I can get some solution!
many thanks!
I looked at the Release Notes for Sitecore 7.2 and found that there were several bugs related to Media Uploads that were resolved in Update 2 (140526), including some that relate to choosing the destination of uploaded media. From your description of the issue and the bugs that were fixed in Update 2, it sounds like you may only need to update to Revision 140526.
To find out what revision of Sitecore you are using, go to the Sitecore Desktop -> Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Administration -> Show About Sitecore Information. As you will see in the screenshot, below, there is a parenthesized revision number at the top. If that number is not 140526 then you should try to apply Update 2 to your instance.
Note that this screenshot is of an instance that is not running on Sitecore 7.2 Update 2, but is instead running on the initial release (140228).
Am very new to magento, created one site using magento. All the functionality are working fine in localhost. When am upload that code into online(server), i got one issue. except that all functionality are working fine.
While am uploading an image i got the issue "Unable to create directory".
Images are uploading to tmp path but not moving to target path. Because when am press the button 'upload files', I can able to see the upload percentages. That is why am thing the files are not moving due to dynamic directory creation fails.
I have tried lot but i can't able to make it as work.
I had tried the following solution,
1. Changed the media file permission to 777.
2. Created one tmp directory under /var/ directory and assigned manually in as tmp directory by change the line 91 of lib/Zend/Cache/Backend/File.php ('cache_dir' => null to 'cache_dir' => 'var/tmp').
3. Changed the php.ini file under the magento root directory.
Newly added lines are,
magic_quotes_gpc = off
short_open_tag = on
extension=pdo.so
extension=pdo_mysql.so
4. Checked whether GD library installed or not. It was installed.
5. Changed scope attribute in Magento admin panel -> Catalog -> Attributes -> Manage attributes. After this you should find image, small_image & thumbnail attributes. Then am changed all these attributes scope to Global.
Many thanks in advance. Please share your thoughts. Feel free to post your comment also.
Finally I got solution at 22-Aug-2014.
Problem is PHP version issue, megento need php 5.2.13 but my server contains php 5.2.12
After updated php version, image upload working fine.
Media Library not listing any media items when browsed from Image Field of an item in content editor.
Steps to reproduce:
Create an item from Content Tree
Browse for an image from Image field.
Media Library UI displayed without previously uploaded images.
Expected : Media Library should display all media items available.
Note:
Inconsistency observed on multiple attempts(occasionally loads with a delay of 20 seconds - Is there any solution/fix to reduce this delay?)
Network is not an issue
User is having all the necessary roles and permissions.
Issue observed in all the browsers.
Version: Sitecore.NET 7.1 (rev. 130926)
Any help would be appreciated in knowing the root cause for Media Library not listing the media items.
Please see below attached screenshot -
Make sure your indexes have been built. The Sitecore 7.1 image UI uses the search API to display content, so if the indexes haven't been updated/build properly it will not show any data.
You can rebuild your indexes by logging into the desktop, click the Sitecore button in the bottom left, go to Control Panel and select Indexing. Click the Index Manager and follow the wizard to rebuild.
Have you specified a data source in the media field? That version of Sitecore has a known bug where such sources doesn't work. If so, ask Sitecore support for the workaround patch for this.
In Sitecore.Speak.ItemWebApi set allowanonymousaccess to true for the site name="shell"
This resolved the issue.
We have to enable the Sitecore.Speak.ContentSearch.Solr.config if using SOLR.
We are using Sitecore 6.5 and have a multi-site Sitecore solution (with lots of library code we have inherited)
Publishing the Media Library by item from Staging to Production but we are not seeing the image on the web.
The images are in the web database and the path to the images in the web site is good.
Error we are getting when the file is requested (same in browser window address bar) is http://domainname/error?aspxerrorpath=/~/media/OSS/Images/WaterAndWildlife/myimage.jpg.
There is no media prefix in the web.config
Any idea?
....Looking into it now but site is going live tomorrow so help very appreciated! Help!!
We faced a similar problem when, in production, media files were not published which resulted in 404 errors.
Solution: The problem was that media files were not saved to the database because a file path was provided with the Sitecore media files while uploading.
So the images were saved on the file system instead of in the database. But based on our web.config configuration we were fetching images from the database.
If you are facing a similar issue, just download the media image, remove the file path, and save it. Then re-upload the same image, save and publish the image.
Hope your problem will be solved.
One question, are these staging and production environments separate code files? if they are, what is the setting in your web.config for the settigns UploadAsFiles? because if that's true it will store them on server and the images will be on staging but not on prod. But usually if this setting is true and the files are getting stored in file system, specially in CM/CD environment it should push the physical files on publish as well, but sometime there might be other issues going on like permission etc..... and the files cant get to the destination.
"<setting name="Media.UploadAsFiles" value="false">"
