I have searched 20-30 posts and I did not find anything useful. I am to store data to database by selecting values from HTML file or form in view. Please tell me how I can achieve this. what code I am missing. Thanks in advance for Help.
view.py
def blog_list(request):
form = AttendanceForm()
if request.method == "POST":
form1 = AttendanceForm(request.POST)
if form1.is_valid:
form1.save()
return render(request, 'blog/blog_list.html',{
'form1':form1,
})
return render(request, 'blog/blog_list.html',{
'form':form,
})
my forms.py
class AttendanceForm(forms.ModelForm):
action = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Action.objects.all(), empty_label="-----------", required=True)
employee = forms.ModelChoiceField(queryset=Employee.objects.all(), empty_label="-----------", required=True)
class Meta:
model = Action
fields = ['employee','action']
my model.py
class Action(models.Model):
action_name = models.CharField(max_length = 100)
def __str__(self):
return self.action_name
class Employee(models.Model):
employee_id = models.AutoField(primary_key = True)
employee_name = models.CharField(max_length = 100)
def __str__(self):
return self.employee_name
class Attendance(models.Model):
u = models.ForeignKey(Employee)
action = models.ForeignKey(Action)
action_time = models.DateTimeField(default=timezone.now())
In Python you need to call methods by using parentheses.
if form.is_valid():
form.save()
It is working fine after these changes in Model:
class Action(models.Model):
action_name = models.CharField(max_length = 100)
def __str__(self):
return self.action_name
class Employee(models.Model):
employee_id = models.AutoField(primary_key = True)
employee_name = models.CharField(max_length = 100)
def __str__(self):
return self.employee_name
class Attendance(models.Model):
employee = models.ForeignKey(Employee)
action = models.ForeignKey(Action)
action_time = models.DateTimeField(default=timezone.now())

I have a model:
class Movie (models.Model):
category = models.CharField(max_length=50, verbose_name='Kategoria filmu', default= 'unassigned', null=False, choices=category_choices)
source = models.CharField(max_length=50, verbose_name='Źródło filmu', default= 'unassigned', null=False, choices=source_choices)
promotion = models.BooleanField(default=False, verbose_name='PROMOCJA FILMU')
author = models.CharField(max_length=50, verbose_name='Nazwa influencera')
title = models.CharField(max_length=50, verbose_name='Nazwa filmu')
content = models.TextField(max_length=10000, verbose_name='HTML EMBEDED do filmu')
date_posted = models.DateTimeField(default=timezone.now)
youtube_url = models.URLField(blank=True, max_length=300)
tiktok_url = models.URLField(blank=True, max_length=300)
insta_url = models.URLField(blank=True, max_length=300)
I am passing it to the view with djnago-filter with different category choice:
views.py:
#HotTop View
class HotTopView (FilterView):
model = Movie
template_name = 'pages/hot_top.html'
filterset_class = MovieFilter
paginate_by = 6
def get_queryset(self):
category_qs = self.model.objects.filter(category="HOT-TOP")
return category_qs.order_by('-date_posted')
#Odkrycia View
class OdkryciaView (FilterView):
model = Movie
template_name = 'pages/odkrycia.html'
filterset_class = MovieFilter
paginate_by = 6
def get_queryset(self):
category_qs = self.model.objects.filter(category="ODKRYCIA")
return category_qs.order_by('-date_posted')
and my filters.py:
class MovieFilter(django_filters.FilterSet):
author = django_filters.CharFilter(label='', lookup_expr='contains', widget=TextInput(attrs={'placeholder': 'Search'}))
class Meta:
model = Movie
fields = ['author']
The question is how can i change placeholder of my serach form depending on the view (HotTop or Odkrycia). I want it to be - when i am in HotTop View -> Search in Hot Top and when i am in Odkrycia - > Search in Odkrycia
I think you could pass an argument
class MovieFilter(django_filters.FilterSet):
author = django_filters.CharFilter(label='', lookup_expr='contains', widget=TextInput(attrs={'placeholder': 'Search'}))
class Meta:
model = Movie
fields = ['author']
def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs):
placeholder = kwargs.pop('placeholder', None)
super().__init__(*args, **kwargs)
if placeholder :
self.fields['author'].widget = TextInput(attrs={'placeholder': f'Search in {placeholder}'})
and then in the views you can use get_filterset_kwargs method to pass the view name.
#HotTop View
class HotTopView(FilterView):
...
def get_filterset_kwargs(self):
kwargs = super(HotTopView, self).get_filterset_kwargs()
kwargs['placeholder'] = "Hot Top"
return kwargs
...
the other view:
#Odkrycia View
class OdkryciaView(FilterView):
...
def get_filterset_kwargs(self):
kwargs = super(OdkryciaView, self).get_filterset_kwargs()
kwargs['placeholder'] = "Odkrycia"
return kwargs
...
I hope that answers your question.
I'm trying to have my form check if the email field matches the verify_email field in my Django form but it is not working.
My forms.py file:
class SignupForm(ModelForm):
class Meta:
model = FormSubmission
fields ='__all__'
widgets = {'botcatcher': forms.HiddenInput()}
def clean(self):
cleaned_data = super().clean()
email = self.cleaned_data.get('email')
vmail = self.cleaned_data.get('verify_email')
if email != vmail:
raise forms.ValidationError(_("Emails must
match"), code="invalid")
return cleaned_data
My model.py file:
class FormSubmission(models.Model):
first_name = models.CharField(max_length = 30)
last_name = models.CharField(max_length = 30)
email = models.EmailField(unique= False)
verify_email = models.EmailField(unique = False)
text = models.CharField(max_length=250)
botcatcher = models.CharField(max_length= 1, blank=True,
validators=[validators.MaxLengthValidator(0)])
def __str__(self):
return "%s %s"% (self.first_name, self.last_name)
It was my indentation for the def clean function.
I have a models with FileField for videos.
When i upload only one video i can return it with this code in the view.py:
def cours(request, id, slug):
c = Cours.objects.get(id=id, slug=slug)
p = Plan_simple.objects.get(cours=c)
return render(request, 'upload/cours.html', locals())
But when i upload two or more videos whith formset, and i change get fuction by filter it doesn't work:
def cours(request, id, slug):
c = Cours.objects.get(id=id, slug=slug)
p = Plan_simple.objects.filter(cours=c)
return render(request, 'upload/cours.html', locals())
the models.py
class Cours(models.Model):
titre = models.CharField(max_length=100)
slug = models.SlugField(max_length=100)
auteur = models.CharField(max_length=42)
comment = models.TextField(null=True)
link = models.CharField(max_length=100)
date = models.DateTimeField(default=timezone.now, verbose_name="Date de parution")
categorie = models.ForeignKey('Categorie', on_delete=models.CASCADE)
def save(self, *args, **kwargs):
self.slug = slugify(self.titre)
super(Cours, self).save(*args, **kwargs)
class Meta:
verbose_name = "cours"
db_table = "cours"
ordering = ['date']
class Plan_simple(models.Model):
partie = models.CharField(blank=True, max_length=100)
date = models.DateTimeField(default=timezone.now, verbose_name="Date de parution")
vid = models.FileField(upload_to='file/', blank=True, null = True)
cours = models.ForeignKey(Cours, related_name = "plan_simple", on_delete=models.CASCADE)
def __str__(self):
return self.partie
class Meta:
db_table = "plan_simple"
Can you help me?
Thanks
The issue is with this line. It does not request anything from the database. It only specifies a filter.
p = Plan_simple.objects.filter(cours=c)
You should change it to this...
p = Plan_simple.objects.filter(cours=c).all()
I'm starting with Django. I have 3 models, a parent class "Cliente" and two child classes, "Persona" and "Empresa".
models.py
class Cliente(models.Model):
idcliente = models.AutoField(unique=True, primary_key=True)
direccion = models.CharField(max_length=45L, blank=True)
telefono = models.CharField(max_length=45L, blank=True)
email = models.CharField(max_length=45L, blank=True)
def __unicode__(self):
return u'Id: %s' % (self.idcliente)
class Meta:
db_table = 'cliente'
class Empresa(models.Model):
idcliente = models.ForeignKey('Cliente', db_column='idcliente', primary_key=True)
cuit = models.CharField(max_length=45L)
nombre = models.CharField(max_length=60L)
numero_ingresos_brutos = models.CharField(max_length=45L, blank=True)
razon_social = models.CharField(max_length=45L, blank=True)
def __unicode__(self):
return u'CUIT: %s - Nombre: %s' % (self.cuit, self.nombre)
class Meta:
db_table = 'empresa'
class Persona(models.Model):
idcliente = models.ForeignKey('Cliente', db_column='idcliente', primary_key=True)
representante_de = models.ForeignKey('Empresa', null=True, db_column='representante_de', blank=True, related_name='representa_a')
nombre = models.CharField(max_length=45L)
apellido = models.CharField(max_length=45L)
def __unicode__(self):
return u'Id: %s - Nombre completo: %s %s' % (self.idcliente, self.nombre, self.apellido)
class Meta:
db_table = 'persona'
I want to manage a class and its parent in the same view. I want to add, edit and delete "Cliente" and "Persona"/"Cliente" in the same form. Can you help me?
There is a good example in the Documentation Here.
I wrote this based on the documentation, so it is untested.
def manage_books(request, client_id):
client = Cliente.objects.get(pk=client_id)
EmpresaInlineFormSet = inlineformset_factory(Cliente, Empresa)
if request.method == "POST":
formset = EmpresaInlineFormSet(request.POST, request.FILES, instance=author)
if formset.is_valid():
formset.save()
# Do something. Should generally end with a redirect. For example:
return HttpResponseRedirect(client.get_absolute_url())
else:
formset = EmpresaInlineFormSet(instance=client)
return render_to_response("manage_empresa.html", {
"formset": formset,
})
I have a model that looks like this
class RSVP (models.Model):
def __unicode__(self):
return self.firstName + " " + self.lastName
firstName = models.CharField(max_length=30)
lastName = models.CharField(max_length=30)
rsvpID = models.CharField(max_length=9, unique = True)
allowedAdults = models.IntegerField(default = 2)
allowedChildren = models.IntegerField(default = 0)
adultsAttending = models.IntegerField(default = 0)
childrenAttending = models.IntegerField(default = 0)
and I have a ModelForm that looks like this
class RsvpForm(ModelForm):
class Meta:
model = RSVP
exclude= ('firstName', 'lastName', 'allowedAdults', 'allowedChildren')
What I would like to happen is that instead of a text field for the adultsAttending, a dropdown box with the values 0 to allowedAdults shows up. This is for a wedding rsvp site and I'd like to set the max number of +1's an invitee can bring on an individual basis
Any thoughts on how to go about this?
I'm thinking you want to fork the allowed children/ adults as well as the name to another model:
models.py
class Invited(models.Model):
f_name = models.CharField()
l_name = models.CharField()
allowed_adults = models.IntegerField()
allowed_children = models.IntegerField()
class RSVP(models.Model):
invited = models.ForeignKey(Invited)
adults_attending = models.IntegerField()
children_attending = models.IntegerField()
Then you would create the invited objects and assign the allowed adults and children. And the RSVP form would take those number into account when generating the choices for your drop down box.
The drop down can be implemented by overriding the IntegerField widget with a ChoiceField
forms.py
class InvitedForm(forms.ModelForm):
class Meta:
model = Invited
class RSVPForm(forms.ModelForm):
class Meta:
model = RSVP
exclude = ['invited',]
def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs):
max_adults = kwargs.pop('max_adults',2) #default to 2 if no max set
max_children = kwargs.pop('max_children',2) #default to 2 if no max set
super(RSVPForm, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs)
adult_choices = ( (x,str(x)) for x in range(max_adults+1)) )
children_choices = ( (x,str(x)) for x in range(max_children+1)) )
self.fields['adults_attending'] = forms.ChoiceField(choices = adult_choices)
self.fields['children_attending'] = forms.ChoiceField(choices = children_choices)
views.py
def rsvp_view(request, invited_id):
invited = get_object_or_404(Invited, pk=invited_id)
if request.method=='POST':
form = RSVPForm(request.POST, max_adults=invited.allowed_adults,
max_children=invited.allowed_children)
if form.is_valid():
rsvp = form.save(commit=False)
rsvp.invited = invited
rsvp.save()
return HttpResponse("Success")
else:
form = RSVPForm(max_adults=invited.allowed_adults, max_children=invited.allowed_children)
context = { 'form':form,
'invited':invited }
return render_to_response('rsvp.html', context,
context_instance=RequestContext(request))
