I've been working with Amazon Web Services iOS SDK and came across an interesting compile error due to a line in the SDK.
In AWSCognitoIdentityProviderModel.h the error appears at the line:
#property (nonatomic, strong) NSNumber * _Nullable mutable;
The error states "Expected member name or ';' after declaration specifiers".
It looks like Xcode does not like using the keyword 'mutable' as a property name and will not compile.
However, this demo uses the same exact SDK with the same offending line and compiles just fine.
Why is this an error in one project and not an error in the demo project?

I'm getting a C1001 error while attempting to build in Visual Studio 2019 Version 16.7.2. This is a C++ project that has previously built fine until a change set I am attempting to build today.
The exact error is as follows: (with project specific path redacted)
1>d:\work\[...](82): fatal error C1001: An internal error has occurred in the compiler.
1>(compiler file 'd:\agent\_work\3\s\src\vctools\compiler\utc\src\p2\main.c', line 187)
Notes below:
The error only happens in Release. Debug builds and runs.
If I turn off all optimizations in Release the error goes away.
The location where the error occurs seems to be unrelated to recent changes I have made to the project i.e. VS is reporting the error in a translation unit that had been building without problem until unrelated changes in another TU were made.
The location where the error occurs seems to not actually be problematic in the sense that if I comment out the implementation of the function there and just return a default value from the function so that the program is syntactically correct, the error occurs in the next the function in the same file.
Turning off Whole Program Optimization and Link Time Code Generation does not fix the problem.

Thank you for copying/pasting the exact error message:

Hi Roger,
Thanks for reporting the bug, and including an excellently
self-contained repro, so quickly. I've investigated and this seems to
be the same issue as
https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/209359/ice-with-fpfast-in-156-and-msvc-daily-1413263051-p.html.
I'm closing this as a duplicate just so that people can collect
context and work-around advice in the same location, and when the
other bug is marked fixed, you can assume that this one is too.
Thanks again,

Please post back if either of these work for you!
I am using cocos2d-x on an iOS game. But I am getting some errors that are preventing the app to compile properly. Here's a screenshot to emphasize the issues:
Any ideas on how to fix those errors? I tried the Xcode suggested methods, like replacing class with Class, but this produces even more errors. Whatever Xcode suggested did not work.
Issues have been solved. I did not touch anything in code. I remember that I recently added few files into the cocos2dx project that was NATIVE iOS code:
ProjectFile.h
ProjectFile.m
ProjectFile.xib
I renamed that ProjectFile.m to ProjectFile.mm and it compiled without errors! So if you have any Objective C classes added into the project and see that error, try changing .m to .mm as Bo Perssoon suggested. THANKS!
I'm trying to execute a code generated by graphEditPlus (using VS2010) but having a trouble with the following line:
CComQIPtr<ISampleGrabber, &IID_ISampleGrabber> pSampleGrabber_isg(pSampleGrabber);
where the errors are:
error C2065: 'ISampleGrabber' : undeclared identifier
error C2065: 'IID_ISampleGrabber' : undeclared identifier
error C2514: 'ATL::CComQIPtr' : class has no constructors
I tried downloading different versions of Windows SDK (V7.1, V6.0A, V5) and set the include / lib paths but still having the same problem!
Is the SampleGrabber still being supported? Mainly, the SampleGrabber is used in my code to grab frames from a video capturing source...
Thanks for your assistance...
Microsoft deprecated Sample Grabber and the entire DES API, however you if you import the type library, or just copy the declarations into your project - the component is still usable except some very latest OS releases (Windows Server 2008?) where it is completely gone and you might need another solution such as building your own from earlier SDK samples.
See ISampleGrabber deprecated: where can I find alternatives? for more information.

I found a nice tutorial on how to implement LuaPlus into an C++ Project using Visual Studio 2010.
http://www.zynox.net/luaplus-1-compiling-basic-usage/
But I can't get it to work because of some error messages..
mainproject\main.cpp(51): error C2664: ‘GetCurrentDirectoryW’ : cannot convert parameter 2 from ‘char [260]‘ to ‘LPWSTR’
50. char pPath[ MAX_PATH ];
51. GetCurrentDirectory(MAX_PATH,pPath);
52. strcat_s(pPath,MAX_PATH,"\\test.lua");
I tried to use TCHAR instead of char, but then it says:
no instance of overloaded function “strcat_s” matches the argument list
So for testing purposes I just deleted these three lines and replaced them with a static path:
const char* pPath = "C:\\Users\\fancyBubble\\Documents\\Visual Studio 2010\\Projects\\LuaPlusTutorial\\MainProject\\test.lua";
and now I get:
fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file ‘..\Debug\LUAPlus.lib’
I'm absolutely clueless how to fix this.
I even tried to use the same version of LuaPlus that the tutorial-creator probably used, but the error messages didn't go away.
I don't really know what I did wrong, but the admin uploaded the whole solution:
http://www.zynox.net/?wpfb_dl=3
Using this combined with greatwolf's comment it works great. :)
I'm building a big C++ project on Visual Studio 2008 I'm getting this error message and I don't understand it. Is it a failure to include the .h file?
I know this thread is dated, but I had the exact same problem with a C++ project on Visual Studio 2008, here was my resolution...
One of the things the VS2008 compile told me was that it generated a log on:
"file://C:\Documents and Settings\adam\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\MyProject\Debug\BuildLog.htm"
This log demystified the problem for me.
In my case, it had the following explicit error message:
c:\Documents and Settings\adam\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\MyProject\MyProject\UnitTests.h(36): Error: Meta object features not supported for nested classes
The problem had been that INSIDE the class I defined here, I defined yet another internal (nested) class, that included the QT macro (so I could define signals and slots):
Q_OBJECT
Obviously QT wasn't happy that this class was nested/internal in another class. So I simply moved the class definition outside (IE made it non-internal).
No, it is not.
Did you look up the error code error PRJ0019.
