Good day – We rebranded our site back in June, with new images, CSS and a thorough review of the site content to replace instances of the old name with the new . After rollout, everything was fine - site was stable and we were able to move forward with standard maintenance stuff - updating, archiving, etc.
We had to restart our production site server this morning and we just noticed that the SC content on the site is now all showing the old information. I have checked the SC backend and all of the content has the old information and is missing recently added items. It is like SC rolled back a month.
We are currently on Sitecore 7.2, hosted internally on a Server2008R2 Windows box, IIS 7.5, 4.0 .NET framework.
How can something like this happen by rebooting the server? We are working with our third-party provider, but figured I would also post here to see if anyone else has run into this issue.

I worked with Oracle apex and created some applications.
the access url was localhost:9090/apex/apex_admin
today I tried to change my book to work-group and changed the IP of my laptop and then restarted it, now I can't access the APEX environment any more although I restore my computer 3 day back but also no way.
note: when I enter this url: localhost in browser it opens IIS7 page.
Please who can help me I am in need to finish my work as soon as possible.
It seems like you should run some Oracle services.
Go to Windows + R (Run)
Write services.msc
Find OracleMTSRecoveryService and both services which are started by OracleOraDb11g.....
If it's disabled go to properties and change Startup Type to Automatic
Then run this services and refresh browser page.

I recently installed Sitecore Rocks (1.2.6.0) into Visual Studio 2012 and connected it to my existing Sitecore 6.5 instance. I can see all my objects in the master database, but when I hover over them, the "Template" value is blank, and the "Template ID" is {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. Am I missing a step in order to get the template information into Rocks?
As far as it seems you are using the Good Old Web Service to connect to the Sitecore Service which won't provide you with template information. To resolve the issue you should start using the new Hard Rock Web Service when you try to connect to your Sitecore Instance. Keep in mind that that the Hard Rock Web Service requires .NET CLR v4.0 and Sitecore 6.5 runs on v2.0 by default. Tested this on my local and everything seems to work fine on a Sandbox Instance.

A Sitecore website is an asp.net web application. It just happens to start off with databases, DLLs, and web.config entries that are ready for you to get the CMS up and running. Standard .NET code works just as normal. However, part of what happens when you first setup your site as a Sitecore website is that Sitecore starts intercepting requests for pages and attempts to bind them to pages in the content tree. If a content item doesn't exist with the matching path, it won't return.
This is particularly important if you plan on just standing up your existing pages alongside new Sitecore pages. Your URLs won't initially work, and you'll have to do some configuration to get them to resolve and be ignored by Sitecore.
However, if you do NOT want to put your pages alongside the site and instead integrate them into the Sitecore solution as content items, you'll likely need to re-architect your solution. Sitecore uses 'sublayouts' (ASCX) for different components on a page, and these need to be represented in the database and the code base, and then added to content items as part of their presentation details. This can be easy, if your site is already heavily architected towards components, but sometimes you'll need to create a bunch of ASCX to represent your different pages.
Your business logic should not be affected, unless you decide to make changes to start leveraging configurations in the Sitecore database or accessing properties of the current context item. In this manner, your code should execute "out-of-the-box".

Sitecore doesn't "create" anything when it publishes. Publishing is really just an action of taking the content approved in the Master database and pushing it out to the Web database for the selected target. Your IIS sites, and anything else you need for your application, you just setup as you normally would.

I highly recommend taking the developer training that Sitecore provides. It's a very good introduction to the concepts, especially if you aren't working with folks who have a lot of Sitecore expertise. It also allows you to meet some other folks who are getting into Sitecore and you can help each other out.

Sitecore is a .NET application at its core, and web forms work. MVC is also supported with the most recent versions of Sitecore.

Nothing is magic. If you want the content management or marketing aspects of Sitecore, plan on rebuilding your site(s) within Sitecore.

Sitecore is an IIS site. When you install Sitecore, it creates an IIS site along with at least 3 databases (core, master, & web). Sitecore can have multiple subsites, but they're all built within the single IIS site that is Sitecore.

Webforms and MVC are both supported in Sitecore. You will be thinking of both of them in a different way whenever you are rebuilding them in Sitecore though.
1) You can create blank solution and add existing items like sublayout, css , javascript etc and obviously need to change some codebehind. But sitecore has different database structure compared to normal web applications , so you will need to create template, items etc.
2) For sitecore , you will need to create website in IIS and make entry in your host file as follows:
local path C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc find hosts file and in that file add entry as
127.0.0.1 yoursitename.com
3) For demo video you can try Sitecore channel videos for basic sitecore learning from Youtube.
I am new to ColdFusion and ColdBox (and programming). I tried to setup ColdBox but some of the links in the sample applications are broken.
My configuration is a GlassFish v3 installation with the current Railo OSS. I access my site through Apache 2.2.14.
So instead of http://127.0.0.1:8080/railo/ I access my environment trough http://railo/.
In Railo I have a webroot mapping / to C:/webapps/myproject/.
I have copied the current ColdBox 3M4 to C:/webapps/myproject/coldbox. I can access the dashboard through http://railo/coldbox/dashboard/index.cfm and have access to all options.
My problems start the moment I try to open the sample gallery:

OK, no problem, just enter the link directly: http://railo/coldbox/samples/index.cfm.
The site looks plain, who cares - BUT all local links look like this: http://127.0.0.1:8080/coldbox/samples/applications/helloworld/index.cfm (railo is replaced with 127.0.0.1:8080).
Looks like trouble. To make my confusion perfect: when I try to access the login app: http://railo/coldbox/samples/applications/sampleloginapp/index.cfm and hit the submit button, I am redirected to this address: http://railo/railo/coldbox/samples/applications/sampleloginapp/index.cfm.
I believe that this is not really ColdBox-related, but it manifests itself when I try to use ColdBox, so here I am.
P.S.: amazon.de takes too long to ship the ColdBox book :(
Here's a suggestion, The good people at Vivotech have developed a couple of different installers for both Windows/IIS7 and various flavours of Linux for both Railo and Open BlueDragon. The setup installs Tomcat, Railo/Open Blue Dragon and the necessary connectors to the web server. Here's the link: http://www.viviotech.net/company/installers.cfm
I think you'll find using the installers to be a lot easier than working through it yourself. If you want to go that route, Adobe and various bloggers have instructions on how to do it. Since you are new to ColdFusion (and programming in general), I would recommend developing against Adobe ColdFusion. The Developer Edition of ColdFusion is free and available from Adobe.com. You won't need to mess around or configure GlassFish since Adobe ColdFusion comes with a baked-in pre-configured Tomcat, providing both servlet engine and web server.
Just install the 'Stand-alone' version of ColdFusion Developer Edition, copy the ColdBox files into the webroot and in less than 15 minutes you be up and running.
You should also check out ColdFusion Builder which is currently available in beta from http://labs.adobe.com. It has full language support and integrated help content for learning the ins-outs of the language.
As far as the ColdBox book goes, it's available as an eBook if you really can't wait. ;-)

i have given up on glassfish and i am now struggling with tomcat :D
I am given a responsibility in my project to develop a Equipment tracking tool with following requirements
New Equipment can be added by admin to a particular user
Once equipment is assigned to a person he will a request to accept the request so he will be responsible
User can transfer his equipment to other users.
At the same time Admin should be sent a mail or message whenever there is a change in status.
It should be deployed locally on a PC( So it is not actually a web app) that is connected to network which can be accessed by everyone
I thought I can use Django for this( I am new to it ), but I do not know much about deployment on a local PC , How can I do this, or is there any better Idea for this?
It still sounds like you want a web app, you just won't be deploying it on a traditional web server. One thing to note, client versions of Windows (XP, Vista) will limit you to 10 incoming connections per computer.
You'll want to follow these instructions on how to install Django. If you haven't installed python yet, I'll recommend that you install version 2.5, since that will include sqlite, an embedded database that makes it very easy to get started developing with Django. Django includes its own development web server, which you will come across naturally as you go through the tutorial.
Start by installing and then jump right into the tutorial. Your deployment options will be much easier to understand once you're comfortable with developing in Django.
