As the title above,I want to set the build output folder like d:/myproject/build/,not as the default path (E:/tests/tests/build/...).
I know I can set the output folder in Project Structure dialog in Intellj idea ,but in android studio, I can't find that option. Forced by my team leader,
I have to customize the compile output path. So, any help is appreciated.

A few months ago, I inherited a C++ command-line XCode project that I've since turned into an app with a GUI, but XCode won't build it as an .app bundle:
Instead, XCode builds a Debug folder, which, interestingly enough, works as an app if I copy it and rename it to "[Bundle Display Name].app".
There are two problems with this though:
(1) I have to manually do this for each build
(2) It doesn't link to my Assets.xcassets file containing my app icons or my Info.plist file or any of the other resources I need.
I've scoured Apple's XCode documentation and come up with nothing. Are there any XCode veterans who know the solution?
EDIT: It seems like the only solution is to add a script to the Build Rules to manually change the Debug directory to an .app and structure it properly. The problem I'm now having is that my app doesn't see my .icns file unless the absolute path is hardcoded into the Info.plist file. For example:

<string>AppIcon.icns</string>
^This doesn't work
<key>CFBundleIconFile</key>
<string>/Users/.../build/Control Cam.app/Contents/Resources/AppIcon.icns</string>
^This works. But of course it can't find the icon anymore if I move the app to a different folder. Any ideas how to get it to use relative path names?
I want to know if there's a simple way to change my exe icon depending on compilation in release / debug / other configuration.
IDE is Visual Studio 2013, source code in C++.

It may be possible using a combination of tricks.
Create an icon for each configuration and store them each in a folder with the same name as the configurations you use (like Debug, Release).
Use $(ConfigurationName) in a pre-build command line. Create a batch file to copy the correct icon to the 'source' location. In other words if the application icon is .\App.ico create a batch file: 'copy .\%1\App.ico .\App.ico' or similar. (obviously get the paths correct).
The batch will execute and overwrite the app icon with the custom build icon.
Change configuration and the icon can change. Just make sure that all icons are the same size.
I have used this to copy a text file into my builds - cannot see why it cannot work with icons.
I try to program some stuff in c++ with eclipse, but I have slight difficulties.
When I create a new Project compiling and making works fine but when I try to run the Application I get the following error message:
"Launch failed. Binary not found"
So what I found out by using google is this workaround:
-right-click on the projekt in the projekt explorer
-select "run as" and then "run configurations"
-expand "c/c++ application" in the navbar on the left
-and in the main tab of the project select "browse"
-navigate to folder "debug" and select the .exe
after I do that, running works fine but I have to do it again every time I create a new Project, is there a way to automate this process?
And what I also noticed: I don't have a "binaries" folder in my projects in the project explorer, maybe its related to that, but I really don't know.

There will only be a Binaries folder if the build was successful. You will have to manually build to get a binary in order for the Binaries folder to appear. Likewise, if you clean (remove) your build folder then Binaries will disappear.
I would guess that Eclipse cannot find your binary "out-of-the-box" because you are using external tools to manage the build process; that is, if you have a custom makefile project (or another type of project that uses another tool to handle the building) then Eclipse will not be able to provide a default run configuration because it does not "know" where the binary is or even which binary to run if there are multiple. Thus, you have to set up the Run Configuration as you are doing now.
If you create a project and let Eclipse do the building, then Eclipse can find the binaries automatically. For example, simply create an "Empty C++ Project" under "Executable". Write some hello world code. Click build. Then click run. Eclipse launches the binary because it is managing the build process and thus "knows about" where the binary ends up.
Open project properties (Right click on your project, choose Properties on the menu)
C/C++ Build -> Settings
Click on Binary Parsers tab and check PE Windows Parser

In my case
I just save the programme. Press CTRL+B to build it.
Refresh it.
Then run the programme.
Now you can see this will work fine.

I have an existing C++ project which is built with Gnu Make. I want to develop the source under Geany but am unable find a way to import it.
I know this i a rather old question, but it was first hit on my search for the exact question. Since I have figured it out now, I wanted to give an answer for future searchers.
One should create a new project. Select a name for the project, select a location for the project file, e.g. the root of the project directory and the the root of the project directory. That's it.
But - the documents tab is confusing, so I suggest installing a file browser plugin, by selecting Tools -> Plugin Manager and then select the plugin File Browser. This adds a tab that will enable browsing the files in the project.

You don't have to import your project.
In geany go to "Project/New" and you'll be able to create a new project. Select a name for your project, select a file to save its settings and select the base directory where your source files are.
Then you'll be able to build to project with "Build/Make". It will run make within the base directory you selected. You can customise the build commands if you go to "Build/Set build commands".
i'm new to visual studio and couldn't find anything on google about this. i know this is an extremely noobish question, but i can't seem to find any info for it.
the debug shows me whatever i write, and the build has no errors, so i know the code i'm writing is fine.
the release folder doesn't contain the .exe, even after i build it, rebuild, clean, etc.
it's a win 32 console project. the release folder contains the .obj files, the manifest, the build log, idb, pch and pdb files (one of each)
Some possible reasons:
Did you accidentally create a class library project? In that case the output would be a DLL and not an EXE.
Does the output window or the error list display any build errors? In that case you should first fix these, then build again.
Did you change the configuration of the project, so that the output (EXE) is created in a different folder than the default one?
There's not a whole lot of reason for people to be guessing... You said you can find the build log - the exact location of any output file will be in there. To make sure you're seeing the right build log file, the output window in VS will have a link to the file that particular build run created:
1>Build log was saved at "file://c:\DevTrees\cppTest\Debug\BuildLog.htm"
1>cppTest - 0 error(s), 2 warning(s)
If you're having trouble interpreting it, post the contents.
I had the same problem; the advice above to look closely at the output window was just what I needed - thanks. My confusion was because I was looking in solution>project>Debug when VS put it in solution>Debug.
The Release and Debug folders contain outputs from different build configurations.
If you look in Project properties, you will see an Output Folder setting in the Build section, and it will be different for each configuration. (You can see the setting for each configuration using the dropdown list at the top of the Project Properties window)
The Release folder will only get populated when you build the project in the Release configuration.
To switch to the Release configuration, use the dropdown list in the toolbar.
EDIT: I am describing the UI for C# projects. It may be different for native code.
Are you sure that your project type is correct? A class library project won't build an executable. It would need to be some sort of application project to create an executable.
I had the same problem. The compilation went fine, but no .exe was generated in the target folder (.\Debug).
The problem was actually that the file containing the main() function was called "FooProject.cpp". I renamed it to "main.cpp" and then the .exe was generated properly.
In other IDEs such as Eclipse CDT, you don't need to have your main file called "main.cpp" as long as you have a proper main() function. This is apparently not the case for Visual C++.
