mplayer build with address sanitizer (asan) - build

Question

I am trying to build mplayer using clang with the address sanitizer flag. However, I keeps getting errors when I execute make. Here is the full output log including the commands I used. Any help will be much appreciated.

It seems that configure script for mplayer breaks in presense of Asan:
Checking for extern symbol prefix ... __asan_init_v3 U __asan_mapping_offset V 0000000000000000 0000000000000008 __asan_mapping_scale V 0000000000000000 0000000000000008
and this later causes generation of invalid config.h.
BTW you seem to only add -fsanitize=address to LDFLAGS - you need it in CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS as well!
