Paste column after column - regex

I have a column of text like this:
usa
canada
alaska
And the second column:
,seattle
,toronto
,anchorage
I want add the second column next to the first like this
usa,seattle
canada,toronto
alaska,anchorage
I tried with the column mode, but the different lenghts made a mess.

I don't feel like you have enough structure about your data to explain this better, but couldn't you just "find all" comma's to highlight all of the commas, press ctrl+shift+right until you highlight the second column values and then ctrl+left until the cursor is at the end of the first column values and paste them?
If you wanted to automate it and that's why you're asking for a regex, then you could just use find and replace like this:
Find: ([a-zA-Z]*)([\t\ ]*)(\,([a-zA-z])*)
Repl: $1$3
Use is find, any number of capital, or lower letters
as $1, followed by any number of tabs, or spaces as $2,
and then a comma followed by any number of upper or lower
case letters as $3. You remove the spaces or tabs(replace
the second catch with any other delimiter or spacing if
necessary
Edited to be copy&paste ready for you to use in Notepad++.
Don't forget to make sure "extended" is turned on in your
find/replace options so you can catch any tabs or spaces.
Result should be: Skip $2 in replace and return just row1,row3

Splitting name/value pairs with regex to ignore special characters based on surrounding characters

I have this regex that's worked well so far that splits 'name=value' pairs separated by a given character.
(?s)([^\s=]+)=(.*?)(?=\s+[^\s=]+=|\Z)
I know the separator, but the problem is in the example below (tab separated):
usrName=Wilma sev=4 cat=Detection CommandLine="C:\powershell.exe" -Enc 0ATQBpAG0AAcABDAHIAZQBkAHMAIgA= IOCValue= ProcessEndTime=2023-01-18 15:51:05
https://regex101.com/r/1wgVxs/5
Some values can have no value in the case of 'IOCValue' which works as expected, however some values like the CommandLine are giving me up to -Enc as one match and the remainder to the next pair as another.
What I'm hoping to get out from the above is:
usrName=Wilma
sev=4
cat=Detection
CommandLine="C:\powershell.exe" -Enc 0ATQBpAG0AAcABDAHIAZQBkAHMAIgA=
IOCValue=
ProcessEndTime=2023-01-18 15:51:05
But I'm getting:
usrName=Wilma
sev=4
cat=Detection
CommandLine="C:\powershell.exe" -Enc
0ATQBpAG0AAcABDAHIAZQBkAHMAIgA=
IOCValue=
ProcessEndTime=2023-01-18 15:51:05
Given I know the separator is a tab I think what I need is to only look for name=value pairs when they are at the start of the line or proceeded by the separator (tab). Is this possible?
Note, I can expect a space separator too, but I have a less performant and messy non-regex version I can send these too, so presume tab.
You may use this simplified regex:
(?s)([^\s=]+)=(.*?)(?=\t|\Z)
Updated RegEx Demo
Here, lookahead (?=\t|\Z) will make sure that value part is followed by either a tab character or end position.

SUM multiple values after a substring within all cells in a column in Google Sheets

For an open source chat analyser in Google Sheets, I need to extract all numeric values after a substring (Example), then total them.
For example, if a cell contains Example1 another text 123 Example500 text, Example1 and Example500 should be extracted out, and their numeric values summed to 501.
This is complicated further by needing to obtain the total for a column of messages.
What I've tried already:
=REGEXEXTRACT(A1, "Example(\d+)"): This only extracts the first matching value, but works!
=SUM(SPLIT(A1, "Example")): This works for messages that only include my target string, but falls apart when other strings are included. The output could possibly be filtered to results that start with a number, but this is very messy and possibly a red herring.
CONCATENATEing all my cells together, then searching for numbers. This is error-prone due to additional numbers within messages.
Another idea is to substitute each Example(\d+) to $1 the captured digit and space |. or replace anything else with empty string (regex101 demo). Knowing that $1 is unset on the right side of the alternation. Then split on space and sum up digits (any other occurring digits have been removed). If Example is a placeholder, replace with e.g. [[:alpha:]]+ for one or more alphabetic characters.
=IF(ISTEXT(A1);SUM(SPLIT(REGEXREPLACE(A1;"Example(\d+)|.";"$1 ");" "));0)
I added IF(ISTEXT(A1);...) for only processing text in the source field (to avoid errors). Else if empty or no text it's set to 0. Just remove if the field always contains text and this is unneeded.
Edit from #TheMaster: As a array formula, we can use BYROW
=BYROW(A:A; LAMBDA(row; IF(ISTEXT(row); SUM(SPLIT(
REGEXREPLACE(row;"Example(\d+)|.";"$1 ");" "));)))
try:
=LAMBDA(x, REGEXEXTRACT(A1, "(\w+)\d+")&
SUMPRODUCT(IF(IFERROR(REGEXMATCH(x, "\w+\d+")),
REGEXEXTRACT(x, "\w+(\d+)"), )))(SPLIT(A1, " "))
update 1:
=LAMBDA(x, REGEXEXTRACT(A1, "(\D+)\d+")&
SUMPRODUCT(IF(IFERROR(REGEXMATCH(x, "\D+\d+")),
REGEXEXTRACT(x, "\D+(\d+)"), )))(SPLIT(A1, " "))
update 2:
=INDEX(LAMBDA(xx, REGEXEXTRACT(xx, "(\D+)\d+")&
BYROW(LAMBDA(x, IF(IFERROR(REGEXMATCH(x, "\D+\d+")),
REGEXEXTRACT(x, "\D+(\d+)"), ))(SPLIT(xx, " ")), LAMBDA(x, SUMPRODUCT(x))))
(A1:INDEX(A:A, MAX((A:A<>"")*ROW(A:A)))))
if you start from A2 just change A1: to A2:

Tcl - How to Add Text after last character through regex?

I need a tip, tip or suggestion followed by some example of how I can add an extension in .txt format after the last character of a variable's output line.
For example:
set txt " ONLINE ENGLISH COURSE - LESSON 5 "
set result [concat "$txt" .txt]
Print:
Note that there is space in the start, means and fin of the variable phrase (txt). What must be maintained are the spaces of the start and means. But replace the last space after the end of the sentence, with the format of the extension [.txt].
With the built-in concat method of Tcl, it does not achieve the desired effect.
The expected result was something like this:
ONLINE ENGLISH COURSE - LESSON 5.txt
I know I could remove spaces with string map but I don't know how to remove just the last occurrence on the line.
And otherwise I don’t know how to remove the last space to add the text [.txt]
If anyone can point me to one or more solutions, thank you in advance.
set result "[string trimright $txt].txt"
or
set result [regsub {\s*$} $txt ".txt"]

How can I separate a string by underscore (_) in google spreadsheets using regex?

I need to create some columns from a cell that contains text separated by "_".
The input would be:
campaign1_attribute1_whatever_yes_123421
And the output has to be in different columns (one per field), with no "_" and excluding the final number, as it follows:
campaign1 attribute1 whatever yes
It must be done using a regex formula!
help!
Thanks in advance (and sorry for my english)
=REGEXEXTRACT("campaign1_attribute1_whatever_yes_123421","(("&REGEXREPLACE("campaign1_attribute1_whatever_yes_123421","((_)|(\d+$))",")$1(")&"))")
What this does is replace all the _ with parenthesis to create capture groups, while also excluding the digit string at the end, then surround the whole string with parenthesis.
We then use regex extract to actuall pull the pieces out, the groups automatically push them to their own cells/columns
To solve this you can use the SPLIT and REGEXREPLACE functions
Solution:
Text - A1 = "campaign1_attribute1_whatever_yes_123421"
Formula - A3 = =SPLIT(REGEXREPLACE(A1,"_+\d*$",""), "_", TRUE)
Explanation:
In cell A3 We use SPLIT(text, delimiter, [split_by_each]), the text in this case is formatted with regex =REGEXREPLACE(A1,"_+\d$","")* to remove 123421, witch will give you a column for each word delimited by ""
A1 = "campaign1_attribute1_whatever_yes_123421"
A2 = "=REGEXREPLACE(A1,"_+\d*$","")" //This gives you : *campaign1_attribute1_whatever_yes*
A3 = SPLIT(A2, "_", TRUE) //This gives you: campaign1 attribute1 whatever yes, each in a separate column.
I finally figured it out yesterday in stackoverflow (spanish): https://es.stackoverflow.com/questions/55362/c%C3%B3mo-separo-texto-por-guiones-bajos-de-una-celda-en...
It was simple enough after all...
The reason I asked to be only in regex and for google sheets was because I need to use it in Google data studio (same regex functions than spreadsheets)
To get each column just use this regex extract function:
1st column: REGEXP_EXTRACT(Campaña, '^(?:[^_]*_){0}([^_]*)_')
2nd column: REGEXP_EXTRACT(Campaña, '^(?:[^_]*_){1}([^_]*)_')
3rd column: REGEXP_EXTRACT(Campaña, '^(?:[^_]*_){2}([^_]*)_')
etc...
The only thing that has to be changed in the formula to switch columns is the numer inside {}, (column number - 1).
If you do not have the final number, just don't put the last "_".
Lastly, remember to do all the calculated fields again, because (for example) it gets an error with CPC, CTR and other Adwords metrics that are calculated automatically.
Hope it helps!

Format a text file by regex match and replace

I have a text file that looks like the following:
Chanelle
Jettie
Winnie
Jen
Shella
Krysta
Tish
Monika
Lynwood
Danae
2649
2466
2890
2224
2829
2427
2816
2648
2833
2453
I need to make it look like this
Chanelle 2649
Jettie 2466
... ...
I tried a lot on sublime editor but couldn't figure out the regex to do that. Can somebody demonstrate if it can be done.
I tested the following in Notepad++ but it should work universally.
Use this as the search string:
(?:(\s+[A-Za-z]+)(\r?\n))((?:\s*[A-Za-z]*\r?\n)+)\s+(\d+)
and this as the replacement:
$1 $4$2$3
Running a replace with it once will do one line at a time, if you run it multiple times it'll continue to replace lines until there are no matching lines left.
Alternatively, you can use this as the replacement if you want to have the values aligned by tabs, but it's not going to match in all cases:
$1\t\t$4$2$3
While the regex answer by SeinopSys will work, you don't need a regex to do this - instead, you can take advantage of Sublime's multiple cursors.
Place your cursor at the beginning of line 1, then hold down Shift↓ to select all the names.
Hit CtrlShiftL (Selection -> Split into Lines) to split the selection into lines.
CtrlC to copy.
Place your cursor on line 11 (the first number line) and press CtrlShift↓ (Windows/OS X) or AltShift↓ (Linux) to place a cursor at the beginning of each number line.
Hit CtrlV to paste the names before the numbers.
You can now delete the names at the top and you're all set. Alternatively, you could use CtrlX to cut the names in step 3.
