for the following problem I need some advice on what would be the best to do:
I want to keep track on my emails so I wrote a small Python script which does exactly that. Since it is my GMail account I am looking at and I would like to store the data in a Google spreadsheet I thought about using the Google App Engine.
This script should be triggered everytime there is a new email in my post box. What would be the smartest way to do so considering any security issues?

I currently have a server build process that uses Terraform and deploys a server all from code.
I'm looking for a web UI with forms that I could either populate specific fields and or do API get commands against a VCenter or wherever the server is being built to populate the specific fields. The fields that get populated would be stored as the variables.tf file and when someone hits submit, it would run the actual Terraform command terraform apply to build the server based on the variables. My guess is the terraform binaries would have to live on there so it could run in the background.
It doesn't have to be some super fancy web page, just something that I could potentially make look cool for Director level folks.
Also, I don't want to use TF enterprise, yet. I've looked into a couple of open source projects (atlantis and terrahub) but none seem to be what I'm looking for.
I'm far from a web developer so any help would be awesome.
You can try with SLD
Stack-Lifecycle-Deployment
I think it has everything that you need
It is very intuitive, it has a web interface and a rest api to easily integrate it with the rest of the applications.
I'm building the Flask app delpoyed on Heroku: recommendation system for the field of future study.
Now I'm stuck on the next question: for now, pupils can fill Google Form, their data adding to Google Sheets, and based on that I'm doing offline statistics. And now I want to implement live-statistics. Because of some "multiple response" questions, there is a problem to take new data from Google Sheets of form without converting data. If I will convert all responces each time, all of that will be not optimized.
What is the best way to implement live-statistics: I don't want use Heroku database and I want to use my Google Sheet. Maybe there is some way to create and update csv file online after each new response?
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
As suggested by Tin, you can use the Sheet API directly; here is a useful guide to get started for Python.
However, since you mention you want to use your Sheet directly, it would be a good idea to take a look at Google Apps Script, it can be quite useful for working with Google products directly and it's easy to use.
You can try with this tutorial on how to get started with Apps Script to work with Sheets. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them separately, the community will be more than happy to help.
I cant seem to figure out how to query database information from mysql through a php file uploaded to a server back to a xamarin application after something like a http post call.
I am relatively new to database development, however I had used bluehost for php storage and querying of my app information for about a year yet cant seem to do the same with AWS. I have a relatively decent scope of what S3, EC2, and RDS do for you, however none of them seem to do what I want. In essence I want to be able to say have someone click a button on my xamarin app that creates an event for a club. Then after they click said button, it will make an http post request to an aws site that contains a php file. In that php file it will change or grab the contents of a mysql database. The only place that seems to be able to upload files is S3 but you cant seem to directly utilize php files in the JSON format that I want. Am I completely off with why you would use AWS at all, am I close but not using the right tools, or is it something else? Please give a pretty extensive description on all that I would need to do as I have been struggling to find anything at all on this topic surprisingly.
So after some digging this video here walks through it a bit with phpstorm as your way to connect to the database and add webpages or api php files. Its pretty long but very helpful.
I have just started looking at Google Cloud. I have been following this tutorial to try to setup the system.
I can successfully download the tar file, I can successfully run install.sh, however when I run the following command I get some unusual behaviour:
./google-cloud-sdk/bin/gcloud init
1) I agree to login - fine.
2) It brings up a page where I need to choose one of my accounts, which I do.
3) It brings up a website saying:
Google Cloud SDK wants to access your Google Account
I then hit Allow.
4) This is where it all goes wrong. It then tries to go to a website such as the following:
http://localhost:8085/?code=4/tQD6sXNDlkpcdFUctB7ZgKKuj7T1Aiqev4o7zGaDVpctit6zrqFfWbnAXSo_zFTVjo4_VyxrUlUtq8IgsRAS7M0&scope=openid%20email%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/appengine.admin%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/compute%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/accounts.reauth%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/plus.me
The website displays something saying 'This site can't be reached'.
This seems strange to me. Why is Google attempting to access http://localhost:8085 ? Surely it should be going to some kind of Google site.
If you could offer any help or advice, I would very much appreciate it. Please bear in mind that I am new to Google Cloud and I would need some very basic help. I am trying to setup a simple website with something like "hello world" with html/css and python.
If you know of any alternative tutorials that work, I would really appreciate it.
I had the same problem as you. I solved it by using gcloud auth login --no-launch-browser
I am trying to follow the instructions on this page, and they are working great, until the part where I deploy from my Google App Engine Launcher. When I click deploy I should see something like this:
But instead, I see something like this:
and the end result is that my app doesn't get deployed to xxxxxxx.appspot.com, it redirects me to http://localhost:8080/?code=4/EfmizPdAPVDgoSInA8mS1KVOvQTkWX4ziFnEpG3XKxA#
I'm a begginer with this kind of tech, please, any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
Found the answer here. In my case, what worked was to first disable the app in the App Engine Launcher, and only then hit deploy. First time I tried, it authenticated, then second time I deployed, it deployed successfully. Thanks Arnie.
In case, I post his other suggestions:
1) remember to give your google id access to less secure apps.
2) remember to go to appspot.com or https://appengine.google.com/ and accept terms and conditions. Your project should also be active on https://console.developers.google.com/project
3) use correct versions of python and google app engine SDK
4) Before hitting deploy button on google app engine stop the app from running on your local host. It will NOT deploy while it is running locally on local host.
