ember-leaflet adding features - ember.js

I'am trying to used ember-leaflet (https://github.com/gabesmed/ember-leaflet) on a profile page. The problem is getting the features into the layers. Any suggestion on how I best can add the same coords as in the center function to the "layer".
Tried creating a function in childLayers, that returns a new layer with the coords, but then ember generates an error.
var MarkerLayer =
EmberLeaflet.MarkerLayer.extend(
EmberLeaflet.PopupMixin, {
popupContentBinding: 'content.title'
});
var MarkerCollectionLayer = EmberLeaflet.MarkerCollectionLayer.extend({
contentBinding: 'controller',
itemLayerClass: MarkerLayer
});
var layer = EmberLeaflet.MarkerCollectionLayer.extend({
content: [
{location: L.latLng(63.429722, 10.393333)},
{location: L.latLng(40.721, -73.991)}]});
export default EmberLeaflet.MapView.extend({
latitude: 61,
longitude: 8,
center: function() {
console.log(get(this, 'latitude'));
var latitude = get(this, 'latitude');
var longitude = get(this, 'longitude');
return L.latLng(latitude, longitude);
}.property("latitude", "longitude"),
zoom: 16,
options: {maxZoom: 19, minZoom: 7},
childLayers: [
WMSLayer,
MarkerCollectionLayer,
layer
]
});

I did something like this:
export default EmberLeafletComponent.extend({
center: Ember.computed(function() {
return this.get('coordinates');
}),
/////////////////////////////////////
// PROPERTIES
/////////////////////////////////////
geoJSON: null,
/////////////////////////////////////
// COMPUTED PROPERTIES
/////////////////////////////////////
childLayers: Ember.computed('coordinates', function() {
return [
TileLayer.extend({
tileUrl: 'https://api.tiles.mapbox.com/v4/{id}/{z}/{x}/{y}.png?access_token={accessToken}',
options: {
id: 'scoutforpets.o2ml3nm1',
accessToken: ENV.APP.MAPBOX_KEY
}
}),
MarkerCollectionLayer.extend({
content: [{ location: this.get('coordinates') }]
})
];
}),
coordinates: Ember.computed('geoJSON', function() {
if (this.get('geoJSON')) {
const coordinates = JSON.parse(this.get('geoJSON')).coordinates;
if (coordinates) {
return L.latLng(coordinates[1], coordinates[0]);
}
}
return null;
}),
});
I then use the component as such:
{{leaflet-map geoJSON=coordinates}}
In my case, I pass in a GeoJSON string and the coordinates computed property parses it. When the map calls childLayers it returns the tiles/markers using the parsed coordinates.

Delay ember view render till $getJSON isLoaded

The problem with this code is that the render code is entered twice, and the buffer is not where I expect it. Even when I get the buffer, the stuff I push in is not rendered to the screen.
App.FilterView = Ember.View.extend({
init: function() {
var filter = this.get('filter');
this.set('content', App.ViewFilter.find(filter));
this._super();
},
render: function(buffer) {
var content = this.get('content');
if(!this.get('content.isLoaded')) { return; }
var keys = Object.keys(content.data);
keys.forEach(function(item) {
this.renderItem(buffer,content.data[item], item);
}, this);
}.observes('content.isLoaded'),
renderItem: function(buffer, item, key) {
buffer.push('<label for="' + key + '"> ' + item + '</label>');
}
});
And the App.ViewFilter.find()
App.ViewFilter = Ember.Object.extend();
App.ViewFilter.reopenClass({
find: function(o) {
var result = Ember.Object.create({
isLoaded: false,
data: ''
});
$.getJSON("http://localhost:3000/filter/" + o, function(response) {
result.set('data', response);
result.set('isLoaded', true);
});
return result;
}
});
I am getting the data I expect and once isLoaded triggers, everything runs, I am just not getting the HTML in my browser.
As it turns out the answer was close to what I had with using jquery then() on the $getJSON call. If you are new to promises, the documentation is not entirely straight forward. Here is what you need to know. You have to create an object outside the promise - that you will return immediately at the end and inside the promise you will have a function that updates that object once the data is returned. Like this:
App.Filter = Ember.Object.extend();
App.Filter.reopenClass({
find: function(o) {
var result = Ember.Object.create({
isLoaded: false,
data: Ember.Object.create()
});
$.getJSON("http://localhost:3000/filter/" + o).then(function(response) {
var controls = Em.A();
var keys = Ember.keys(response);
keys.forEach(function(key) {
controls.pushObject(App.FilterControl.create({
id: key,
label: response[key].label,
op: response[key].op,
content: response[key].content
})
);
});
result.set('data', controls);
result.set('isLoaded', true);
});
return result;
}
});
Whatever the function inside then(), is the callback routine that will be called once the data is returned. It needs to reference the object you created outside the $getJSON call and returned immediately. Then this works inside the view:
didInsertElement: function() {
if (this.get('content.isLoaded')) {
var model = this.get('content.data');
this.createFormView(model);
}
}.observes('content.isLoaded'),
createFormView: function(data) {
var self = this;
var filterController = App.FilterController.create({ model: data});
var filterView = Ember.View.create({
elementId: 'row-filter',
controller: filterController,
templateName: 'filter-form'
});
self.pushObject(filterView);
},
You can see a full app (and bit more complete/complicated) example here

ember.js sending actions to controllers from views

I've created a typeahead view and i'm trying to send an action to the current controller to set a property. Here is my typeahead view
App.Typeahead = Ember.TextField.extend({
dataset_name: undefined, //The string used to identify the dataset. Used by typeahead.js to cache intelligently.
dataset_limit: 5, //The max number of suggestions from the dataset to display for a given query. Defaults to 5.
dataset_template: undefined, //The template used to render suggestions. Can be a string or a precompiled template. If not provided, suggestions will render as their value contained in a <p> element (i.e. <p>value</p>).
dataset_engine: undefined, //The template engine used to compile/render template if it is a string. Any engine can use used as long as it adheres to the expected API. Required if template is a string.
dataset_local: undefined, //An array of datums.
dataset_prefetch: undefined, //Can be a URL to a JSON file containing an array of datums or, if more configurability is needed, a prefetch options object.
dataset_remote: undefined, //Can be a URL to fetch suggestions from when the data provided by local and prefetch is insufficient or, if more configurability is needed, a remote options object.
ctrl_action: undefined,
didInsertElement: function () {
this._super();
var self = this;
Ember.run.schedule('actions', this, function () {
self.$().typeahead({
name: self.get('dataset_name'),
limit: self.get('dataset_limit'),
template: self.get('dataset_template'),
engine: self.get('dataset_engine'),
local: self.get('dataset_local'),
prefetch: self.get('dataset_prefetch'),
remote: self.get('dataset_remote')
}).on('typeahead:selected', function (ev, datum) {
self.selected(datum);
});
});
},
willDestroyElement: function () {
this._super();
this.$().typeahead('destroy');
},
selected: function(datum) {
this.get('controller').send(this.get('ctrl_action'), datum);
}
});
Here's an implementation
App.CompanyTA = App.Typeahead.extend({
dataset_limit: 10,
dataset_engine: Hogan,
dataset_template: '<p><strong>{{value}}</strong> - {{year}}</p>',
dataset_prefetch: '../js/stubs/post_1960.json',
ctrl_action: 'setCompanyDatum',
selected: function (datum) {
this._super(datum);
this.set('value', datum.value);
}
});
and here's my controller
App.PeopleNewController = Ember.ObjectController.extend({
//content: Ember.Object.create(),
firstName: '',
lastName: '',
city: '',
state: '',
ta_datum: undefined,
actions: {
doneEditing: function () {
var firstName = this.get('firstName');
if (!firstName.trim()) { return; }
var lastName = this.get('lastName');
if (!lastName.trim()) { return; }
var city = this.get('city');
if (!city.trim()) { return; }
var state = this.get('state');
if (!state.trim()) { return; }
var test = this.get('ta_datum');
// Create the new person model
var person = this.store.createRecord('person', {
firstName: firstName,
lastName: lastName,
city: city,
state: state
});
// Clear the fields
this.set('firstName', '');
this.set('lastName', '');
this.set('city', '');
this.set('state', '');
// Save the new model
person.save();
},
setCompanyDatum: function(datum) {
this.set('ta_datum', datum);
}
}
});
I'm expecting the setCompanyDatum controller action to be called, but it's not. Everything else is working as expected. The App.Typeahead.selected method is being called with the right action name, but it doesn't actually call the action method.
the controller inside your App.Typeahead points to the instance of the App.Typeahead, not the controller from the route where you are creating the view.
You should just be using sendAction
http://emberjs.jsbin.com/EduDitE/2/edit
{{view App.Typeahead}}
App.IndexRoute = Ember.Route.extend({
model: function() {
return ['red', 'yellow', 'blue'];
},
actions:{
externalAction:function(item){
console.log('helllllo' + item);
}
}
});
App.Typeahead = Ember.TextField.extend({
internalAction: 'externalAction',
didInsertElement: function () {
this.sendAction('internalAction', " I'm a sent action");
this._super();
}
});

Ember: use controller data in route or how to fetch data properly

This question is a follow up on my previous question: Architecture for reusable object in ember
In my app I create multiple charts using an Ember.Component. The daterange for all the charts is controlled by a Daterangepicker which has its own controller etc.. Now the data for each chart is fetched in the IndexRoute (with an ajax call), and the daterange is passed in the query string.
The problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to access the daterange from the IndexRoute. Here's my code:
IndexRoute.js
App.IndexRoute = Ember.Route.extend({
model: function(){
var that = this;
return Ember.Object.extend({
registrationsData: null,
registrations: function() {
var self = this;
$.ajax({
url: Routing.generate('ysu_user_api_statistics_registrations', {startDate: that.dateRange.startDate, endDate: that.dateRange.endDate}),
success: function(data) {
var labels = [];
var values = [];
var chartData = {
labels : data.labels,
datasets : [
{
data : data.values,
}
],
};
self.set('registrationsData', chartData);
}
});
}.property(),
}).create();
},
dateRange: Ember.Object.create({
id: 1,
startDate: '2013-08-01',
endDate: '2013-08-31'
}),
});
Index.hbs
{{ my-chart title="Registrations" dataBinding=model.registrations registrationsDataBinding=model.registrationsData}}
MyChartComponent.js
App.MyChartComponent = Ember.Component.extend({
...
dataBinding: null,
registrationsDataBinding: null,
dateRangeBinding: null,
modelDateRangeBinding: null,
chartContext: null,
myChartController: null,
didInsertElement: function() {
/* Create and set controller */
if (!this.get('myChartController')) {
myChartController = new App.MyChartController()
this.set('myChartController', myChartController);
}
this.set('chartContext', $(this.get('element')).find('canvas')[0].getContext("2d"));
},
drawChart: function() {
if(this.get('chartContext')) {
var ctx = this.get('chartContext');
var options = {
bezierCurve : false,
pointDotRadius : 6,
pointDotStrokeWidth : 4,
datasetStrokeWidth : 4,
}
var myNewChart = new Chart(ctx).Line(this.get('registrationsDataBinding'), options);
}
}.observes('registrationsDataBinding', 'myChartController.dateRange'),
});
MyChartController.js
App.MyChartController = Ember.ArrayController.extend({
container: App.__container__,
needs: ['daterangepicker'],
dateRange: 'controllers.daterangepicker.selectedRange',
dateRangeBinding: 'controllers.daterangepicker.selectedRange',
});
I must admit, this setup feels kinda weird. So ultimately my question is:
What would be the correct way to fetch data for my charts based on startDate and endDate set in my DatePickerController?
I have been struggling with this problem as well.
In some of my apps, I've needed the URL to control the date range (e.g. a particular month). In these cases, I would created a MonthRoute and a MonthModel - think of it as a monthly report. The MonthModel has a hasMany property of the actual data I wanted to chart:
App.Month = DS.Model.extend({
companies: DS.hasMany('App.Company')
});
A datepicker would let the user enter a new route, which would fetch (say) the Jan-2013 month model
{
month: {
id: 'Jan-2013',
companies: [
{name: 'Acme, Inc', revenue: 10425, ...},
...
]
}
}
Then, I would set the embedded companies data on my CompaniesController in the setupController hook:
App.MonthRoute = Ember.Route.extend({
setupController: function(controller, model) {
controller.set('model', model);
this.controllerFor('companies').set('model', model.get('companies'));
}
});
Then, I would do the various array manipulations on my CompaniesController, and make that data available to my charts.
I have some code for this up on github, as well as a demo. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Correct usage of store.loadMany() function

I'm trying to figure out how to populate a table from a JSON object.
My JSON is a structurated object:
{
id: 0,
list: [{ username:'user_1',online:true, user:0 },
{ username:'user_2',online:true, user:0 }]
}
My Model is defined as follow:
MyTalk.WUser = DS.Model.extend({
list: DS.hasMany('MyTalk.User')
});
MyTalk.User = DS.Model.extend({
username: DS.attr('string'), // primary key
online: DS.attr('boolean'),
user: DS.belongsTo('MyTalk.WUser')
});
I am using a custom Adapter for ember-data:
DS.SocketAdapter = DS.RESTAdapter.extend(MyTalk.WebSocketConnection, {
// code not relevant
}
DS.SocketAdapter.map('MyTalk.WUser', {
list: {embedded: 'always'}
});
DS.SocketAdapter.map('MyTalk.User', {
primaryKey: 'username'
});
MyTalk.Store = DS.Store.extend({
revision: 12,
adapter: DS.SocketAdapter.create({})
});
Now I would load my data. I run in Chrome command line the following statements:
var store = DS.get('defaultStore');
var obj = {
id: 0,
list: [{ username:'user_1',online:true, user:0 },
{ username:'user_2',online:true, user:0 }]
};
var store.loadMany(MyTalk.WUser,obj);
var record = MyTalk.WUser.find(0);
record.serialize();
But it returns no record:
> Object {list: Array[0]}
thanks in advance!!
If you want to allow the adapter to deserialize embedded records (or perform any custom deserialization, for that matter), you'll need to load your data through the adapter rather than directly into the store.
var store = DS.get('defaultStore'),
obj = {
id: 0,
list: [{ username:'user_1', online:true, user:0 },
{ username:'user_2', online:true, user:0 }]
},
type = MyTalk.WUser,
adapter = store.adapterForType(type);
adapter.load(store, type, obj);

List pushed in navigation view is not rendered

I am using sencha touch 2.
My App.js file (summed up)
Ext.application({
launch: function() {
// ...
var list = Ext.create('Ext.List', {
itemTpl : '<img src="{icon}"/>{title}<br/>{description}',
store: store,
listeners: {
select: function(view, record) {
var customView = Ext.create(record.get('view'));
navView.push(customView);
view.deselectAll();
}
}
});
//----------------------------------------------------------------------
var navView = Ext.create('Ext.NavigationView', {
navigationBar:{
items: [{
text:'refresh',
align: 'right'
}]
},
items: [list]
});
//----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ext.Viewport.add(navView);
}
});
When i am loading a view within my navigation view, everything is ok appart when it conains a list.
There is a view with a list in it.
The subpanel is rendered, but not the list view (the list view has been tested and is of course rendering in a different context)
Ext.define('ts.views.jobs', {
extend: 'Ext.Panel',
layout:'fit',
config:{
title:'Jobs'
},
initialize: function() {
this.callParent();
var jobsStore = Ext.create('Ext.data.Store', {
model: 'ts.model.job',
data: [{
key2: 'key1'
}, {
key2:'key2'
},
{
key2:'key3'
}
]
});
var jobsList = Ext.create('Ext.List', {
xtype: 'jobsList',
ui: 'round',
itemTpl : 'ok{key}',
store: jobsStore
});
var panel = Ext.create('Ext.Panel', {
html: 'Testing'
});
this.add([jobsList,panel]);
}
});
What am i doing wrong ?
* is it a navigationview bug ?
* am i not initializing properly in my subview ?
Thx for your help.
This was cross posted to the sencha touch forums: http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?184492-List-pushed-in-navigation-view-is-not-rendered and the answer accepted was:
layout config needs to be within the config object.
