Install sqlcmd with SQL Server 2014 unattended? - c++

I want the installer I am writing to install an SQL Server 2014 Express instance, and then immediately execute a command on the server.
I have the Configurationfile.ini working properly and it successfully installs the instance perfectly. But this does not install sqlcmd, which I want to use to execute the command.
Does anyone know if there is a way to either tell the server express installer to install sqlcmd, or if there is a separate installer I can run?
Thanks!

Automating Software installation in Amazon Windows Instance

I would like to use Amazon Windows Instance to test the compatibility of the code which is developed on Mac. I may use the instance once a month for few hours for testing purposes that's it. I don't want my instance running the whole month and costing me.
Hence I am planning to create an instance whenever I want. To test the code I have to install g++, openGL, boost libraries etc. How can do this using scripts?
I am looking for some scripts which install packages on a freshly installed Windows instance, clone the files from git, build and test the software.
For example for AWS Ubuntu instance I can do the following,
./> ssh -i KeyPairForUbuntu.pem ubuntu#instance.eu-central-1.compute.amazonaws.com
./> sudo apt install <packages>
./> git clone pathToTheGit
./> run scons scripts to build and run the project
Is there any similar way to do this for Windows?
Please give any suggestions,
Thanks
try using https://chocolatey.org/
its a package management like apt-get for windows

Is it a good idea to run Apache on Windows server 2012?

I run AmazonWebService with: Windows Server 2012 + IIS + Python3 website and want to add django. I tried to find some tutorial how to do it, but unfortunately, found nothing.
Is it a good idea to install Apache on Windows Server 2012 and then try to deploy django on it? How difficult is it?
Thanks

Remote builds with IntelliJ

I am having the following problem:
a) I have a UNIX build environment set up on a remote server I can ssh into
b) I have IntelliJ on Windows
What I would like to do is to edit the files through a remote connection
(similar to the functionality that exists for Emacs) and issue shell commands
such as 'make' and running simple 'test-scripts' which exist on the server..
Are the functions to do this integrated into IntelliJ or will I need a plug-in?
There is a SSH plugin for Intellij IDEA. It is available in https://plugins.jetbrains.com/idea/plugin/1203-ssh
For anyone still looking for a way to edit files remotely while running Intellij locally, version 2016.3 Ultimate Edition has a Remote Server Configuration option. It allows to access files remotely using either FTP, SFTP or FTPS.
More details on how to configure the remote servers can be found in Intellij's Help Pages.

does windows appfabric require Sql Server Express?

I am using the windows platform installer to install AppFabric, it says that SQL Express is required? Can't i use the SQL Server R2? I don't really want to install SQL Express.
No, you absolutely can use full SQL Server with AppFabric. I suspect it's listed as a dependency in the Web PI so it'll install correctly for people who don't have SQL Server installed.

Installing PostGIS on Windows

I've installed PostgreSQL and PostGIS, and now I'm trying to follow these instructions:
http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#spatialdb-template
But I keep getting the following error, both in the command prompt and in Cygwin:
C:\Users\Home>createdb -E UTF8 template_postgis
createdb: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
And I know PostgreSQL is running, because I'm using it right now!
Installing open source applications can sometimes be so frustrating...
I'll be very grateful for your help!
Are you by any chance using cygwin here? Particuarly, is the system picking up createdb from a cygwin binary?
If your server is cygwin, try removing it and replace it with the Windows version.
If your server is the Windows version, but you have createdb from a cygwin install in the PATH, try removing cygwin from your PATH to make sure you pick up the Windows version of createdb.
