Lein REPL always shows Connection Refused - clojure

I've been trying to get Leiningen to work on my Mac. However whenever I run "lein repl" I get the following response:
localhost:~ KJ$ lein repl

Right now I'm running Leiningen 2.3.4 with Java 1.8. I have also tried with Leiningen 2.4.3 and gotten the same result. I found this issue here and that seems to be the issue, but it says it's solved in 2.3.4. I installed 2.4.3 from the leiningen site and 2.3.4 using homebrew. One suggestion in the issue thread is to try it with wifi turned off. When I do this, the repl connects successfully but this is obviously not ideal.
Are there any workarounds for this?
Edit: I've looked around my hosts file but I'm not exactly sure what to change. Here's what it is right now:
##
# Host Database
#
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
##
127.0.0.1 localhost
255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
::1 localhost
fe80::1%lo0 localhost

The issue I linked to above still exists for Java 1.8. I was able to solve the problem by downgrading to Java 1.7 instead.

Pyspark read jdbc giving errors . How to fix?

I am connecting to RDS MySQL using JDBC in pyspark . I have tried almost everything that I found on Stackoverflow for debugging but still, i am unable to make it work .
spark = SparkSession.builder.config("spark.jars", mysql_jar) \
.master("local[*]").appName("PySpark_MySQL_test").getOrCreate()
df= spark.read.format("jdbc").option("url", "jdbc:mysql://hostname.amazonaws.com:1150/dbname?user=user_name&password=password") \
.option("driver", "com.mysql.cj.jdbc.Driver").option("dbtable", "table_name").load()
I have tried using the same connection details in pymysql library of python it connects and brings back the result.
But here I getting the below error and am unable to solve it.
raise Py4JJavaError(

Caused by: com.mysql.cj.exceptions.CJCommunicationsException: Communications link failure
I have experienced the same issues.Now it is worked.The core reason is spark use master node to connect mysql and use work nodes to execute task.So you can connect mysql while raise communication error.Based on this theory,you can open the security rules on mysql to let all spark node can connect to mysql
For anyone coming here for an answer using Docker give the below solution a try.
use the below configuration
source_df = spark.read.format('jdbc').options(
url='jdbc:mysql://host.docker.internal:3306/superset?useSSL=false&allowPublicKeyRetrieval=true',
driver='com.mysql.cj.jdbc.Driver',
dbtable='table',
user='root',
password='root').load()
I have tried the host with localhost, 127.0.0.1, and even the IPAddress from docker inspect but didn't work then changed it to host.docker.internal and it worked.

When i access the openfire using Spark show error connection refuse.
There are not a lot of details in your question that would help someone identify the problem, for instance, what OS, which version of Openfire and what version of Java you're using.
Openfire versions up to the most recent at the time I'm writing this (v4.3.0) are incompatible with Java 9 and up. That's a common source of problems. Try downgrading to Java 8.

Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue.
Can you deploy the ear file on another app server, e.g. JBoss 7.1.1.Final. This is just to verify that the issue is not with your ear file.
Also try not bundle the SAAJ jar with your war/ear file. Let JBoss pick it up from it own modules. In Maven you can do that by provided
