We recently upgraded from Coldfusion 8 to coldfusion 9. All the scheduled jobs now send emails multiple times. sometimes 2ce, 3ce, or even 4 times. Unistalled and re-installed CF. Still doesn't seem to work normally.Anyone had this issue/knows what to do?

after pressing update service software release in AWS console the following message appeared An update to release *******has been requested and is pending.
Before the update starts, you can cancel it any time."
Right now I waited for 1 day - still pending.
Any ideas how much time does it take, or do i need to do anything to move it from pending to updating, and should i expect any downtime in the update processenter image description here
I requested the R20210426-P2 update on a Monday and it was completed on the next Saturday so roughly 6 days from request to actual update. It's also worth noting that the update does not show up in the Upgrade tab in the UI, it shows up in the Notifications tab with this:

[UPDATE 11 Jul 2021] I just proceeded with updates on two additional domains and the updates began within 15 minutes.
[UPDATE 17 Dec 2021 Log4J CVE] I've had variable luck with the R20211203-P2. One cluster updated in a few hours and one took a few days. A third I was sure I started a few days ago but it gave me the option to update today (possibly a timeout?). I'm guessing they limit the number of concurrent updates and things are backed up. I recommend continuing to check the console but have patience, they do eventually get updated. If you have paid support, definitely open a ticket.
I have a particular scheduled task that CF claims runs every 2 minutes. However, it either doesn't run or complete since the database changes the task is supposed to perform do not occur after each run. However if I copy the exact same URL into a browser and run the script, it works 100% of the time.
I have no clue where to start debugging. There is no IP restriction on the page.
I can see in the CF Admin that it was last run at 2:06 for example and the next run will be at 2:08. I can also see it in the scheduler.log file.
We had updated our certs in IIS but didn't update our cacerts file. Once we did everything was great.
It was clear the process wasn't running when I added a line or two to email myself at the start of the task. The emails never came when the server ran the task but they did when I pinged the page. I changed the task to save the output to a log file and when I opened that up it just said "Connection Failure". This led me to some googling and some talk about certificates which made me remember that we just updated ours recently. Looking back at my emails with IT it did indeed happen on the same day that the last emails in the mailsent.log were sent from these scheduled tasks.
i am testing a rails 4.0 app on blitz.io and new relic..
Blitz: 200 users, 4000 Timeout, in 60sec.
Heroku: 20 dynos (2x standard dynos).
Database: Postgresql 200 connections plan
Using Unicorn at 7 processes(new relic shows that my app uses about 140mb,
so for a 2x standard dyno, you get 1gb, and so 1024/140 is about 7. link ref for this in below line)

For the same config and multiple tests i see response queuing in new relic ranging from 240ms to 443ms. I would like to know why its varying that much. what else should i be monitoring. how can i reduce it to atleast 50ms? also what is the ideal response queuing time?

Ever since upgrading to CF10, we've been having some odd issues with our automated ColdFusion emails. The processes always functioned properly in the past, but lately we've been getting some very out of the ordinary issues which I'll describe further below.
We discover the problem usually from contacts who usually receive these emails on a daily basis with or without attachments. We'll go to the CFMAIL directory for the corresponding server and find a slew of emails stuck in the 'Undelivr' emails. In some cases, we can just move these emails to the Spool folder and they process fine, but in most cases they result in one of the two errors below:
Error 1: In an email which normally does not contain a body and contains an attachment, the follow error is what we found in the logs:

Placing these emails that have always been sent out this way in the past without an attachment in the spool directory causes it to go right back in the 'Undelivr' folder and resulting in the same error. We ended up having to modify the email file and add random content in the body message, place it back in the spool directory, and it went through. - Mind boggling.
Error 2:

Both errors occur randomly and we have not been able to find out what causes them randomly from time to time. All other emails go through fine, but certain emails will never go out and end up in the 'Undelivr' folder.
We are running them on Windows Server 2008 64bit.

I have just done a clean install of CF8 on a Windows 2000 machine. I have a scheduled task I need to run every 15 minutes on this machine, and the machine does little else.
The task is set up as normal through CF admin, but for some reason, when the task takes about 5 minutes to run it will complete fine (I can see this from debug output and from cfstat) but the scheduler will not reschedule the task.
The scheduling log shows that the task started to execute, but not entry that it was rescheduled. Eg:

I have been over my server timeouts. I have NO timeout in CF admin and this particular script has a <cfsetting requesttimeout="43200" /> tag set. There are no exceptions in the console logging. The last bit of console logging is the very last debug statement in my .cfm template.
I do notice that task that run in a shorter time, say for example under a minute, will reschedule as normal.
Has anyone come across a problem like this before?

not for nothing, but i've never seen anything like this with cf8. are you sure that you have the latest hotfix and jvm installed? this might have been something in cf8 that was fixed in 8.01.

If you suspect that it's an uncaught exception causing the issue, then might I suggest logging portions of the process. Case in point, I had a similar problem with a scheduled task where it would just bottom out for no reason (never had the reschedule problem though). What I ended up doing to diagnose the problem was use cflog to write out portions of the process as they completed. This particular task too about 4 minutes to complete but ran through about 200 portions (it was a mass emailer for a bunch of clients).
I logged the when the portion started and completed along with how log it took. By doing so, i could see what portion would trip up the whole process and knew where to focus my attention.
