I'm trying to use the cpu of bochs in my graduate course project. I want to create a project of it in eclipse so I can modify it and compile it and also see the errors ...
I have the source code and I use visual studio's nmake to build, compile it. but the problem is that it doesn't report me the errors and the only way to know the error happens or not is to wait until nmake ends and see if the .exe file is created or not. after that the process of finding errors is a bad headache.
so I'm trying to use ubuntu OS and use eclipse. anyone knows how to create a project for bochs in this?
Also the more important thing is a tutorial that I can learn bochs cpu codes. because the official site's tutorial has no use.

I found it myself.
just go to bochs official site and download the source code for linux.
extract the zip file somewhere.
open a terminal and go to the extracted folder.
type:
./configure
this will check your system and set the values for the #define arguments in a file called makefile.
now open eclipse.(I assume that you have the c/c++ CDT). FILE>NEW PROJECT
In the opened dialogue open c/c++ tree, and select "Makefile project with existing code" and click next. next put a name for your project and in the "existing code location" browse the extracted folder. next select CROSS GCC as toolchain. then click finish.
there you go. now build the project and it should work.
remember that for running project you must give bochs command line arguments which is available in eclipse and you can find out how with a search in forums.

I'm trying to get "go to definition" working for a JUCE project created with Projucer. I've tried both CLion and Visual Studio Code, but they can't seem to find definitions that live in the JUCE libraries.
I'm on Ubuntu. Is there a blessed path for this? I'm normally a vim user, but I'm willing to try any IDE.
I've just figured this out!
In VS Code go View and Command Palette and type C/C++: Edit Configurations (UI) which will take to the IntelliSense Configurations page. Under Include path, on a new line, specify the path to JUCE e.g. ~/JUCE/**.
Note: The two stars are needed to tell VS Code to look through subdirectories.
This will create a hidden folder .vscode in your project folder with this configuration.
You will need to repeat these steps for each project you make.
Definitions and code completion should now work.
To compile your code, in your project folder go Builds then LinuxMakefile and in a terminal run the command make. Finally, go to the builds folder and run your project ./exampleProject.
You need to add the JUCE/modules folder to your search path, not the top-level JUCE/ folder!
If you're using the Projucer, you'll also need to add the JuceLibrarySource/ folder to your search path.
What I ended up doing was using FRUT to convert my project from a Projucer project to a CMake project. CLion was able to understand the CMake project, and thus, the "go to definition" and autocomplete features started working.
I have a solution in C:\full path here\VS2010\blender.sln
This solution contains many projects(around 100). When I compile them, they all work fine. I can run them without any problem, and (quite) everything works (there are some bugs).
One of the projects is ALL_BUILD, but it gives the same error if I try to debug INSTALL(another project). I'm compiling with RELWithDebInfo as configuration, and if I execute the program manually it works. It is outputted in C:\full path here\VS2010\bin\RelWithDebInfo
But if I try to run the compiler, it says
"Unable to start program
C:\full path here\VS2010\RelWithDebInfo\ALL_BUILD
Specified file cannot be found"
I tried to copy the compiled program into the path required by VS, but it raised the same error.
What should I do to solve this? Right now I set up cmake to generate also a mingw project and I compile it and debug it with gdb, but this is a really a slow and impractical workflow, and I would like to use the VS debugger.
I must say that if I compile with Debug as configuration, the program doesn't even start.
I'm using VS2010 Express on Win7 64bit

Guessing from the information I have, you're not actually compiling the program, but trying to run it. That is, ALL_BUILD is set as your startup project. (It should be in a bold font, unlike the other projects in your solution) If you then try to run/debug, you will get the error you describe, because there is simply nothing to run.
The project is most likely generated via CMAKE and included in your Visual Studio solution. Set any of the projects that do generate a .exe as the startup project (by right-clicking on the project and selecting "set as startup project") and you will most likely will be able to start those from within Visual Studio.

Verify the "Source code" folder on the "Solution Explorer", if it doesn't contain any "source code" file then :
Right click on "Source code" > Add > Existing Item > Choose the file You want to build and run.

I think that what you have to check is:
if the target EXE is correctly configured in the project settings ("command", in the debugging tab). Since all individual projects run when you start debugging it's well possible that only the debugging target for the "ALL" solution is missing, check which project is currently active (you can also select the debugger target by changing the active project).
dependencies (DLLs) are also located at the target debugee directory or can be loaded (you can use the "depends.exe" tool for checking dependencies of an executable or DLL).
For community, i have this project compiled/build/released manually using NotePad++ but its very difficult to work for such large project with just one text editor.
I want to use the large project with my favourite NetBeans IDE, to get fast coding done and use some tools of NetBeans while coding that i love.
(but build / compile/ release i can do manually as usual)
How can i open the whole project in NetBeans IDE?

It should be enough if you just create an new Project within Netbeans and choose creating Project with Existing Sources as type of your project. Netbeans will ask you where did you store the existing sources which you just need to tell it and tada you can start coding

How to open an new Project
I try to program some stuff in c++ with eclipse, but I have slight difficulties.
When I create a new Project compiling and making works fine but when I try to run the Application I get the following error message:
"Launch failed. Binary not found"
So what I found out by using google is this workaround:
-right-click on the projekt in the projekt explorer
-select "run as" and then "run configurations"
-expand "c/c++ application" in the navbar on the left
-and in the main tab of the project select "browse"
-navigate to folder "debug" and select the .exe
after I do that, running works fine but I have to do it again every time I create a new Project, is there a way to automate this process?
And what I also noticed: I don't have a "binaries" folder in my projects in the project explorer, maybe its related to that, but I really don't know.
Any help is appreciated

There will only be a Binaries folder if the build was successful. You will have to manually build to get a binary in order for the Binaries folder to appear. Likewise, if you clean (remove) your build folder then Binaries will disappear.
I would guess that Eclipse cannot find your binary "out-of-the-box" because you are using external tools to manage the build process; that is, if you have a custom makefile project (or another type of project that uses another tool to handle the building) then Eclipse will not be able to provide a default run configuration because it does not "know" where the binary is or even which binary to run if there are multiple. Thus, you have to set up the Run Configuration as you are doing now.
If you create a project and let Eclipse do the building, then Eclipse can find the binaries automatically. For example, simply create an "Empty C++ Project" under "Executable". Write some hello world code. Click build. Then click run. Eclipse launches the binary because it is managing the build process and thus "knows about" where the binary ends up.
Open project properties (Right click on your project, choose Properties on the menu)
C/C++ Build -> Settings
Click on Binary Parsers tab and check PE Windows Parser

I just save the programme. Press CTRL+B to build it.
Refresh it.
Then run the programme.
Now you can see this will work fine.

I'm a fairly experienced C# dev, but have very little C++ knowledge. I have set my self a project to get a custom Firefox build running, and be able to control it from C# code.
I have got so far as getting and building the Firefox source, and creating a Visual Studio solution for the exe. This means I can now run via F5 in Visual studio. If I open a source file, I can set break points and have them hit.
What I'm not sure how to do, is load the entire source, as if I were working with a C# .NET solution. As I understand it, there are no project files with the Firefox source, as it is not windows specific source. I have followed an online example that suggests creating using 'project from existing code' option in VS, which resulted in VS grinding to a halt as there were so many files.
What are the steps to getting the code into an environment (preferably Visual Studio) that makes it simple(ish) to edit, debug and navigate the source code.

From you question, I beleive you are almost there. You have a working build ? That means you have :
A Solution File (*.sln)
A Project file (*.vcxproj or *.vcproj depending on yoru visual studio version)
With that in hand, what works best for me is this layout (adapted to your needs) :
Starting from a root folder of you liking, say MyProject
Create a new Empty solution there
Move the folder with your working build in a subdirectory, like MyProject\MyCustomFirefox
In Visual Studio "Add an existing project" and find your vcxproj file
In the same solution, create a C# project like you always do, in a directory at the same level as your FF build, like MyProject\MyFirefoxController
In short the solution file is pretty much alone in the root directory, and each project is in its own directory.
You will also need to adjust build options so that the output files (a DLL or an EXE) is seen by your C# project. While your are at it, make the C# project dependent on your Firefox build : it will instruct the msbuild to rebuild one if you change the other.
This will not work with the Express edition, I beleive. They are single language.
If you have a command line build path, which is creating a VS-debuggable executable, you could try adding all the source files to the project, but marking them 'exclude from build'. Then add a 'post-build step' to call the command line tools.
You may have to do a little more tweaking in the project properties to get the command line output recognized as the output to debug, but theoretically this could work.
