I'm trying to develop a desktop application coded in HTML, CSS, jQuery and PHP, compiled with TideSDK. This application needs to receive real-time notifications from a webpage, so that when a user clicks on a specific button on the website, the desktop application captures that immediately. I've found Pusher for this matter, and it works great between two websites, but it appears as "unavailable" to connect in a desktop application with TideSDK.
This is what I get from the web:

Does anyone know if this is a firewall/proxy/router error? Or maybe something else? In either case, how can I make Pusher work in a TideSDK compiled desktop application?

#Jeremy You are running into a limitation of TideSDK's internal WebKit. We've been working on TideKit as you may be aware for some time http://tidekit.com. This is launching quite soon so you will be able to migrate when you wish.
TideKit has most up-to-date implementations for both JavaScriptCore or V8. You can build with whatever is best for your project. Our implementations are both state of the art and have the highest HTML5 scores possible today.
TideKit is a platform as opposed to an SDK and it has a build service you interact with but can also build locally. A bonus is that TideKit is for mobile, desktop and web as opposed to a desktop only solution. If you develop using CommonJS you can actually build on all platforms from a single project source to extend the reach of your app.

I wanted to make my app accessible without local connection via expo publish. After running the command i successfully get a link to the project page. But if i try to open the app via the project page in Expo Go, it displays this alert:
The project is loaded on my device(i suppose it is because it is cached in my device), but it is not opening for anyone else. How to load it with network instead of cache? My network is connected even though the alert tells to check it.
It was my mistake, had to go through the expo documentations to find a guide that simply states:
Invite your teammate to the Expo account that owns the project.
I thought since the project privacy is set to public, this was not mandatory. It is.
I had this problem today - for me the issue was being on a public WiFi network (at a co-working space) that I think must have some kind of network filtering that presumably blocked fetching new Expo packages.
Switching WiFi off on my phone and using cellular resolved the issue.
I want to deploy my Unity3D game on Facebook as canvas App. There are two platforms in unity version 5:
WebPlayer
WebGL (Preview)
I have no idea about both of these builds. I am using Parse to store my user data. And Facebook Unity SDK for social gaming. I have built for IOS platform and now for Canvas App deployment I want to know:
which one of these would be best for Canvas App?
I want to know if there are any issues regarding Parse API or Facebook Unity SDK for
WebPlayer/WebGL build?

does it have to do anything with Canvas App too?
I have built for WebGL and tried to run it on Google Chrome and got this alert:

I will suggest you to not build your game in webplayer, because chrome is dropping support for unity webplayer(Google Chrome version 42 and later has disabled all NPAPI plugins), and other browser will also drop the support sooner or later. The best way forward is to use webGL. WebGL in unity is still getting evolved, but this is the future. I also have developed game for webGL, I didn't face much problems except data storage. Parse does not support webgl yet, you have to look for other services. In my case I have build my own php server and it is working fine. Anyways you have to choose what is best in your case. You should use webGL , but thats my opinion.
The error message is more or less self-explanatory: Chrome doesn't support running Unity WebGL when it is run from a local file on disk, because of Chrome security. This is not a real problem, as in production it will always be run from a webserver (http://).
During development, your options are:
Start chrome with access to local files: chrome.exe --allow-file-access-from-files
Host a local webserver (Apacha/WAMP, IIS, etc)
Use firefox
You are correct. Building the unity for the web is the way to go. You select web from the build settings and you can upload it to the facebook canvas. The thing with chrome is that it no longer supports NPAPI and that is what the Unity web players uses. You can manually enable it and try out your game in chrome. But for the majority of chrome users unity web player no longer works.
I have recently found those two look-alike solutions/IDE for cross-mobile development: Appcelerator and Rhomobile (I know there are more) and I have questions regarding those two platform:
1) I believe the only way to build the view is using HTML, which I like alot the ideas. But, does that mean the application itself isn't available if the mobile is offline?
2) Do you guys know if it's possible to publish the application to the App Store and Google Store?
3) Are there any simulator for different mobile and do they support all those slide/tab events?
4) And finally, are there a way to transfert the App on your mobile phone without having to publish it anywhere.
Please note that I have no knowledge at all about mobile app dev and those two solutions (Appcelerator, Rhomobile) would be perfect for me as I am familiar with Javascript and HTML.

Ok I have only used appcelerator but:
1) a webview is like a browser without the address bar, it simply parses HTML, where it gets it from is up to you. If you write the HTML and pass in a file well then yes it can be offline, if it is used to parse a response from a webpage well then no as it needs to send a http request to the webpage.
As many people seem to mistake (for a reason unknown to me as all the documentation states other wise), appcelerator is not the same as phonegap, appcelerator uses its own javascript based API to allow developers to make native apps, it is NOT a webview wrapper. It is offline by default and allows you to send http requests if you need something online.
2) yes you can publish to the app store and the google store from appcelerator, the documentation walks you through the process.
3) Appcelerator requires you to download either the IOS sdk or Android SDK which come with simulators, appcelerator / the emulators support the standard events found on these devices.
4) With Android to can build a .apk file and distribute however you wish, with IOS the only way is to publish to the app store. the only other way is to make a mobile website instead of an application
What are the configuration file settings to enable webservices on IIS 7.0 in classic mode?
The site has to be in a classic mode application pool because the Report Viewer controls crash when running in Integrated Mode. However in a classic mode application pool, webservices produce the following error message:

In IIS Manager (Start -> Run -> inetmgr), select the website or virtual directory you want to set to classic mode.
In the right hand panel "Actions", click on "Basic Settings".
Next to application pool (that is defaulted to DefaultAppPool), click "Select" and change it to "Classic .Net AppPool".

Update: Sorry, I misread your question. There are a couple of things you can try:
The first is to double check the IIS installation features from the control panel (Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on and off -> Internet Information Services -> World Wide Web Services -> Application Development Features). I have everything bar CGI and Server-side includes checked).
Secondly, make sure that your site is correctly setup as an application (select website -> Actions -> View Applications). If it isn't there you'll need to add it.
Third thing to check is specifically the Handlers, which is accessed through IIS Manager -> Select website -> Handler Mappings -> Open Feature -> Make sure .asmx is there. I have it three times, WebServiceHandlerFactory-Integrated (handler System.Web.Handlers.WebAdminHandler), WebServiceHandlerFactory-ISAPI-2.0 (Isapi Module), and WebServiceHandlerFactory-ISAPI-2.0-64 (Isapi Module).
Finally you make sure you are using the correct .NET version for that application.

Thanks Junto for the post! I tried so many things that other people were suggested but couldn't get my site to work. I followed your instructions and sure enough, my applications were listed under Sites in IIS, but were not shown in the Application Pools. I deleted the Applications and created them. Everything work as expected after that.
In case someone is interested of what I went through. I was migrating from IIS6 to IIS7. All the virtual directories and applications seem to be ported fine, but not all of them got into the Application Pools. So, if you're running into the same issue, "Error 400.17. If you want to serve this content as a static file, add an explicit MIME map", check your App Pool to make sure all your applications are shown.
This sounds like your HandlerMappings are a bit screwy. You can revert to known good a baseline (provided you haven't tinkered with the server wide Handler Mappings) by doing:
Open IIS Manager
Open the site in question
In the Features View for the site open the Handler Mappings feature
In the Actions pane (top right), click on "Revert To Parent"
I am given a responsibility in my project to develop a Equipment tracking tool with following requirements
New Equipment can be added by admin to a particular user
Once equipment is assigned to a person he will a request to accept the request so he will be responsible
User can transfer his equipment to other users.
At the same time Admin should be sent a mail or message whenever there is a change in status.
It should be deployed locally on a PC( So it is not actually a web app) that is connected to network which can be accessed by everyone
I thought I can use Django for this( I am new to it ), but I do not know much about deployment on a local PC , How can I do this, or is there any better Idea for this?
It still sounds like you want a web app, you just won't be deploying it on a traditional web server. One thing to note, client versions of Windows (XP, Vista) will limit you to 10 incoming connections per computer.
You'll want to follow these instructions on how to install Django. If you haven't installed python yet, I'll recommend that you install version 2.5, since that will include sqlite, an embedded database that makes it very easy to get started developing with Django. Django includes its own development web server, which you will come across naturally as you go through the tutorial.
Start by installing and then jump right into the tutorial. Your deployment options will be much easier to understand once you're comfortable with developing in Django.
