I have an application that runs in the debug build, but when I start it in the release build, I get this error:
LINK:fatal error LNK1181:Can not open input file 'Qt5Core5.lib'
Try deleting all temporary data created by QtCreator. Has worked for me in that situation.

I attempted to follow through on VS Code's method on making C++ code work on their editor. I did this successfully on my laptop but when I tried compiling it, I was met with the error:
* Executing task: C/C++: g++.exe build active file
Starting build...
C:\msys64\mingw64\bin\g++.exe -fdiagnostics-color=always -g "C:\Users\salty\Documents\Programming\C++ Scripts\myProgram\main.cpp" -o "C:\Users\salty\Documents\Programming\C++ Scripts\myProgram\main.exe"
'cmd' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Build finished with error(s).
* The terminal process failed to launch (exit code: -1).
* Terminal will be reused by tasks, press any key to close it.
This is the entire error message plus extra things in my editor.
If I try and copy and paste the command in the message into Windows Power Shell, it actually works (New .exe file appeared in the correct directory and runs without fault).
These are my environment variables for User, and these are my System variables.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and changing the paths around. I'm new to C++ programming and how compilers work in general, but I'm not sure why VS Studio says it doesn't recognize cmd among others it could've not recognized.
Why is it giving me this error?
Edit: I believe I didn't include a return 0; line in the program. Correcting this did not fix the issue.
I am not sure what I poked into place or if I just was too incompetent to realize something, however adding %SystemRoot%\system32 to my PSModulePath environment variables somehow fixed the issue, and since that action I have yet to replicate the compile error.
I don't know if adding that variable to my environments permanently fixed it or VS Studio needed a moment to process some things. Thanks anyways!
I'm trying out STM32CubeIDE, and I've been trying to get it to work with the GDB QEMU debugging plugin that's part of the Eclipse CDT package. I've been able to create the project and debug configuration for my STM32F4-Discovery board, and the debugger partially launches, however, just as the simulator starts up, the GUI window it creates suddenly crashes and I get this error:
Error in final launch sequence
Failed to execute MI command:
-target-select remote localhost:1234
Error message from debugger back end:
Truncated register 18 in remote 'g' packet
Failed to execute MI command:
-target-select remote localhost:1234
Error message from debugger back end:
Truncated register 18 in remote 'g' packet
Truncated register 18 in remote 'g' packet
I think this is caused by some mismatch between the CDT plugin I installed and the GCC toolchain that shipped with my installation of Ubuntu 20.04. However, I'm not sure how to fix this.
Is there anything I try to fix this?
So it looks like there were a couple factors as to why this wasn't working. First off, the error messages that I was getting immediately after the GUI debugger terminated were due to an incorrect installation of the arm-none-eabi-gdb package. In order to fix this, I downloaded the package from the ARM site and followed the instructions detailed here. After installing the arm-none-eabi-gdb package again, I went into the project debug configuration settings, navigated to the "debugger" tab in this window, and then changed the GDB executable path from the variables the IDE had set for me to the actual GDB executable path (in this case /usr/bin/arm-none-eabi-gdb).
After that was done, the debugger would no longer immediately terminate, but I was still getting some errors in console shortly after it started (see below). In addition, the debugger GUI would produce no meaningful output, and Ubuntu would warn that the process had frozen.
NVIC: Bad read offset 0xd88
qemu-system-gnuarmeclipse: Attempt to set CP10/11 in SCB->CPACR, but FP is not supported yet.
To solve this, I right clicked the project in the project explorer panel of the IDE, then went to C/C++ build section, then to the Settings section under that, and then finally to the "Tool settings" section of this menu. Under "MCU settings", there are two options for "Floating point unit" and "Floating point ABI", which I changed to "None" and "Software implementation" respectively. After saving these configuration changes, I went to the system_stm32f4xx.c file under the src/ directory of the project, and commented out these lines:
/* FPU settings ------------------------------------------------------------*/
#if (__FPU_PRESENT == 1) && (__FPU_USED == 1)
SCB->CPACR |= ((3UL << 10*2)|(3UL << 11*2)); /* set CP10 and CP11 Full Access */
#endif
After that, I cleaned the project, rebuilt it, and relaunched the debugger. It then functioned normally.
I have qt project but if I edit my code, Qt creator throws out this error
:-1: error: LNK1168: cannot open debug\GettingStarted.exe for writing
I'm not able even to delete the debug folder (i.e. as an administrator). I have to log off and then come back. What is the problem and how can I solve it?
Go to the task manager Ctrl+Alt+Del.
look for the name of your running application in your case GettingStarted.exe.
right click --> end process or just press Suppr . This will kill the running process.
Go back to your code and run the application again
In my simple case (Qt only, no external libs, same error LNK1168) the Task manager showed nothing useful to kill.
Only total reboot has helped and error is gone.
All the methods mentioned here has not helped except reboot. There is no any ProjectName.exe in Task Manager.
You can go to C:\Users\user-name\source\repos\ProjectName\Debug\ folder and rename ProjectName.exe. You can't delete this file at that time, but It can be renamed. It can only be deleted after reboot.
I know this is an old thread but I was stumbling in the same problem also. Finding it in task manager is tricky, and I started to grow tired of having to restart my PC every time this happened.
A solution would be to download Process Explorer and there you can search for running tasks. In my case I was having the following error:
1>LINK : fatal error LNK1168: cannot open C:Out\Build\VS12_app\Debug\platform_test.exe for writing [C:Build\VS12_app\platform_test.vcxproj]
I searched for C:Out\Build\VS12_app\Debug\platform_test.exe in Process Explorer, killed it and I was able to compile.
I want to ask about cascadeclassfier load doesn't work in release.
I using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and OpenCV 2.4.7.
my code:
CascadeClassifier cascade;
if(!cascade.load("D:/data/training.xml"))
{
printf("Error load XML!\n");
return -1;
}
Things i've tried so far:
Tried to specify the path manually using ""
Tried to use / or \ in the path
Tried to give user permission
Tried to call the xml without using absolute path
Tried to use many kind of codes i've found when searching this error
Tried to seperate the xml by creating a new folder for them
Additional Information:
Running in debug mode work 100% perfectly
Running in release while using visual studio trigger a break
Running using the exe created while building only show "Error load XML!"
i really confused right now, so i decided to ask..
Thanks before.
I've had similar problems when switch from Debug to Release Mode. I had copy config from Debug to Release and mistake at Linker > Input > Additional Dependencies. And I had fix this problem by using opencv_world320d.lib for Debug mode and opencv_world320.lib for Release mode.
I am running a program on linux fedora in debug mode. And I get the error message
Startup Warning : Failed to open up profile at "/.txr/tix.conf"
I wanted to know what the location of of the tix file should be . I tried putting it in
Debug/txr/tix.conf
However that does not work as the program complains about the same thing. Any suggestions ?
