I am trying to run the netbeans makefile via my terminal of one of my C++ project
While executing
Make
, I receive the following errors:
...
/bin/sh: 1: -o: not found
make[1]: *** [nbproject/qt-Debug.mk] Error 127
...
What should I do? Thanks in advance. Please note that I can easily build the program via Netbeans.
EDIT : I use ubuntu 13.04, netbeans 7.3, linux terminal.
I simply use:
make
or
make CONF=Release
in the project root (where the Makefile is located), and it works. I have a simple C++ project without anything extra.

I am new to Verilator and encountered a problem with basic HelloWorld example. I was following the Verilator Manual and wanted to execute the basic Helloworld example with C++ wrapper program (2.1 Example C++ Execution). After invoking command
verilator -Wall --cc --exe --build sim_main.cpp our.v
an obj_dir directory was created with generated C++ code and after running Vrun file, my terminal gets stuck,blocked..whatever..does nothing.
I always have to CTRL-c and cancel it afterwards.
I also tried with not using the -build in the command, and I manually compiled it. And still to no avail.
Has anyone encountered a problem like this, or does someone have any idea what is wrong? I'm using Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, and Verilator version 4.211 devel rev v4.210-78-g27d53691

I am trying to compile an existing qt application's code using mingw compiler.
During compilation I am getting an error "*** internal error: unable to open jobserver semaphore '3,4': (Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified. ). Stop".
My current project is a makefile based project. Here I have one make file (parent.mk) that compiles all primary modules and then

Here in this QT code directory I have another makefile (child.mk) which has following content:
child.mk
cd "qtcode_compilation_out_dir"
qmake.exe "product.pro" -r -spec win32-g++
CONFIG+=release
mingw32-make -w
If I try to run the make command manually for QT code then it works fine.

Finally, I found out the exact reason of the problem and solution as well.
Reason for failure:
The compilation command that I am using is "make" which is been aliased to "make -j2"and along with "mingw32-make -w" it was producing the error because mingw32-make is an obsolete make command and it doesn't support multi threaded compilation.
Solution:
I just replaced the mingw32-make with make.
I'm getting a strange problem with my C/C++ dev environment. I had installed gcc, g++ on my linux box(ubuntu 14.04).
With the hello world program being built on my system I'm getting this error:
make all
/bin/sh: 1: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string

It looks like your problem is in the name of the file you're trying to compile: Banker's.c. Rename the source to Bankers.c without the single quote in it.
mv src/"Banker's.c" src/"Bankers.c"

Background:
I am in the process of building a library using ActiveMQ-cpp on Linux. I have built and run it successfully on the host Ubuntu PC, but attempting to cross-compile it for the target ARM-based machine is producing some very abstruse errors.
The first step involves building APR (http://apr.apache.org/) using the arm-linux-gcc compiler. After some research, the following command runs the configuration script with little fuss:
CC=/usr/local/arm-linux/bin/arm-linux-gcc ./configure --prefix=/root/apr-arm --host=arm-linux cross_compiling=yes ac_cv_file__dev_zero=no ac_cv_func_setpgrp_void=no apr_cv_tcp_nodelay_with_cork=no apr_cv_process_shared_works=no

Current Issue: Entering make on the command line exits prematurely at the following line:

Attempted Fixes: A solution to the following question, posted by the asker, has not worked. It is possible that I've not followed the process correctly (Apache Cross Compilation Error ./gen_test_char: cannot execute binary file)
In the same theme, I tried temporarily removing the problem gen_test_char program from its directory but the clever script just rebuilds it.
My aim is to either avoid this error and continue the build process on Ubuntu, or perhaps consider other means of building the library. I have built it with no trouble in VS2013 on Windows, so if it is possible to cross compile that project for ARM architectures I would happily go ahead with that.
APR need gen_test_char to be compiled for system not for arm, why you got "bin/bash: tools/gen_test_char: cannot execute binary file" error because make program is going to execute gen_test_char on your system and if you cross compile then every time you got this error.
To avoid this error please follow below steps:
1) Cross compile APR which is going to fail
2) compile APR for system and copy gen_test_char to cross compiled APR's directory.
3) Again cross compile
After performing above steps you should not get "cannot execute binary file" error.

compile APR for system and copy gen_test_char to cross compiled APR's directory.
change the name of gen_test_char to gen_test_char_host
in Makefile file change the name of gen_test_char to gen_test_char_host because make creates it again.
Again cross compile
you may see some struct redefinition which needs to find the file and comment the redefined struct manually.

my user path is 'c:\Users\r&d', i think the '&' is makeing trouble in compile process , does anybody has any idea ?, i can not reinstall windows because i have got many softwares installed on my current windows and it is very time consuming to me, how can i fix this /
r&d is definitely a problem. Try surrounding it with quotes: "c:\users\r&d" and hope for the best. If it doesn't work, change the folder to something without an ampersand (you don't need to reinstall Windows for that, just create another user).
You can try creating another user without the ampersand, and then copying your profile to it to keep all your settings and application preferences, as well as documents.
You might want to try another build enviroment, like code:blocks which has its own internal build system. You probably want make sure you are using the latest gcc mingw compiler and build system from mingw(use their installer, I think it was http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files/Installer/mingw-get-inst/mingw-get-inst-20120426/ ), and even if you don't go with code::blocks, make sure you are using the new branch of devc++ that was forked and still being developed. One last thing is if you go with code::blocks, use a nightly build in the forum, http://forums.codeblocks.org/index.php/board,20.0.html as they are much more up to date.
The escape character in Windows is ^. So try
