I have an existing CocosBuilder project and I wish to add an image (png) to it. I've tried adding the image in the projects directories but it doesn't show up in the project yet new directories do. Also tried dragging and dropping directly into the project.
Is this possible? Just can't seem to find a way to do it. Thanks!
Solved! My Image was named background-568h#2x.png and I removed the "#2x" and it was able to add it.

i want to edit cpp files in Eclipse but can't open the folder that contains the cpp files.
The folder symbol is a folder with an exclamation mark at the bottom right. I tried to look up the meaning of the symbol in the eclipse docs but didnt find something. Maybe a bit more background: the cpp files belong to a cocos2d-x application, eclipse cdt is installed. The files are normally accessible with notepad++ or any other texteditor but eclipse just doesn't list them. Refresh, clean or restart didnt help either. Maybe you guys can help me out.
The esclamation Mark deals with build path problem. This problem are usually related with eclipse metadata, probably rebuilding the Index Will fix it, but the easiest thing is delete the project (without deleting from disk) and import the project using import existing project into workspace. Male a backup before any operation.
Found the problem, a little fault in the path, edited the folder properties now everything works!
I'm trying to setup an application on Windows 7 using Cocos2D-x.
I followed this tutorial.
I did the following:
Built the library running Build-win32.bat script. Works.
Installed VS2010 project template. Works.
Run successfully all test programs.
Created a new cocos2D-x project through the installed template. Works
When I compile the Hello World application I have the follwing errors:
error C1083: impossible to open inclusion file 'CCstdC.h' No such file or directory
error C1083: impossible to open inclusion file 'cocos2d.h' No such file or directory
It's a wrong include path.
I could fix it by manually modifying include path but since I'm creating project through the template I-d like to solve this, possibly not having to modify paths manually for each new project I'll create.
Did anyone ever had the same issue?Do you know how to fix this?
Well, I setup cocos2dx projects like this:
create an empty win32 app in VS
open the folder contains your .sln file (your solution folder)
open the cocos2dx package (i.e. cocos2d-1.0.1-x-0.12.0.zip) with 7z or something
drag cocos2dx, and optionally CocosDenshion, Box2D, etc. to your solution folder
add cocos2dx project (cocos2dx\proj.win32\cocos2d-win32.vcxproj) into your solution
go to your project's properties, select C/C++->General, add the following entries to your Additional Include Directories option:
..\cocos2dx; ..\cocos2dx\include; ..\cocos2dx\platform; ..\cocos2dx\platform\win32; ..\cocos2dx\platform\third_party\win32\OGLES
and ..\CocosDenshion\include if you're using the SimpleAudioEngine
in the Linker->Input->Additional Dependencies option, add libcocos2d.lib, and libCocosDenshion.lib if you use the audio engine; in the Linker->General->Additional Library Directories option, add $(OutDir)
go to the Configuration Properties->General->Output Directory option, set it to $(SolutionDir)\build\
open the project property for cocos2d library, go to the Configuration Properties->General->Output Directory, set it to $(SolutionDir)\build\, also do that to the rest of the libraries you included.
All set, you're ready to go.
Unfortunately that template is not that useful. I believe that in a previous version of cocos2d-x (the one that tutorial is based on) the paths were absolute, and referenced the cocos2dx, cocosdenshion projects directly.
Now, as they're relative (..\..\cocos2dx), and they are not copied to the solution directory when a project is created, it just doesn't work.
You could obviously fix the paths (as you suggested) but my suggestion is: copy the HelloWorld project and use it as a template. The solution structure is much better than the one in the template as it's already prepared for iOS, win32 and Android. Trust me, can't get any easier than that.
Now, here's the catch: if you copy the HelloWorld project to a sibling folder, you're done, as all the references are already setup. If you want to copy to other place you'll have to also copy cocos2dx, cocosdenshion along, leaving the target structure like:
target_path\cocos2dx
target_path\cocosdenshion
target_path\Copy_of_Hello_World
I solved opening the cocos2dx library solution and add to it a new project through VS template wizard.
I've found similar questions across the internet, none of which helped me. The Code::Blocks workspace and project files included DO generate .a files, and I've moved them to Codeblocks/MinGW/lib, and I've moved the Box2D folder to Codeblocks/MinGW/include and yet the HelloWorld.cpp example still gives me these errors.
Looks like the project files you used to build the .a were missing some files. The file mentioned in the error message is one that was removed from Box2D after v2.1.2, so I'm guessing you are using 2.1.2 source code (or thereabouts) with project files from some other source?
In any case, setting these up yourself is really simple. In the 'Management' panel, right click the 'Engine' project, select Remove files and click OK to remove everything.
Now do the same and select Add files recursively, choose the folder that contains Box2d.h file:
Click OK a few times, and you're done.
In your case, since you had it building already I would expect this to be ok now but for anyone arriving here wanting to setup a project file from scratch, you'll also need to specify the search path for the Box2D headers.
To do this, in the same right-click menu choose: Properties -> Project settings tab -> Project's build options button -> Search directories tab -> Add button. Now choose the parent folder of the one you just chose above.
I am trying to run a project in c++ using visual studio 2008... in vc++ . Now I have a sample project which takes care of the additional included libraries and some other settings... I want to import these settings into my new project. I tried to save the settings of sample project and include them in mine. But I can't see those properties in my new project.
for eg. sample project displays the linker->input->additional dependencies as cv210d.lib cvaux210d.lib highgui210d.lib cxcore210d.lib cvblobslib.lib but the same thing in my new project shows blank...
CAn you please give me the steps for linking properties??
What I did was save the property page and then added existing property page in my new project.. That doesn't help
This is maybe not exactly what you wanted, but you can fix this problem by just copying the stuff you want (cv210d.lib cvaux210d.lib highgui210d.lib cxcore210d.lib cvblobslib.lib) into the blank space in your project. It's editable, you know what should be there, so just go ahead and put it there.
I guess this will only solve one problem (link dependencies) and you want to solve all such problems by importing. How to do the latter i don't know.
Im sure there is a very simple solution for this.
I have a bunch of .cpp / .h files from a project, say in directory ~/files
On the other hand, I want to create a c++ project using eclipse to work on those files, so I put my workspace on ~/wherever. Then I create a c++ project: ~/wherever/project, and include the source files (located in /~files).
The problem i'm having is that files are now duplicated in ~/wherever/project, and I would like to avoid that, specially so I know which copy of the file to commit.
Is this possible? Im sure it is, but cant get it.

You could try:
creating the project directly above the ~/files (which is not very clean, given the location of the sources in your home dir)
using a linked folder
importing existing sources in your project: details all the options (when your sources are also managed by a VCS like CVS, or when your sources are not managed)
Create a file or folder in your project as per normal (choose File->New->Folder), give it a name, and click on the Advanced button. This reveals a file-choose field where you can browse for the resource you want to "virtually" include in the project. Click Okay and the file/folder you named is now linked outside of the project.
