adding variables to component packaging file - joomla2.5

During installation I want Joomla to fetch the component name from the language files. Actually I tried to do it in this way.
<extension type="component" version="2.5.0" method="upgrade">
<name>COM_MYGREATCOMPONENT_NAME</name>
...
And in language file I have this:
COM_MYGREATCOMPONENT_NAME=Name of my great Component

I am quite sure that is not possible.
You have to add the "com_name" name in that variable and it should not change for each language.
You can read more about this file here:

Use the same project for EMF model and edit code?

Can I somehow use the same Eclipse plug-in project for both a generated EMF model and the corresponding generated EMF Edit code?
Normally these two components reside in two different projects, the EMF Edit one with the suffix .edit to its name. I find this superfluous, since there is so little code in the Edit project, and it is so closely related to the model code.
I have tried setting both the modelDirectory and the editDirectory Gen Model attributes to (different) directories in the same project, but that seems to lead to endless confusion and build problems. I think maybe the two generation steps overwrite each others project setting files.
After some more experimentation it seems like it works fine to have EMF and EMF Edit generated code in the same project.
The things I had to do to make it work are the following:
Setting the genmodel property modelDirectory and editDirectory to the same directory. Otherwise I got a build error saying "The type ... is already defined in ...".
Setting the genmodel property bundleManifest="false". Otherwise the plug-in ID is overwritten by the generation process.
Apart from this I also set updateClasspath="false" to avoid that the generation process messes around with that.
The automatic updates to the manifest and plugin.xml files seem to be the following:
Set plug-in ID
Add exported packages
Add EMF extensions to plugin.xml
2 and 3 needs to be performed manually if they are desired. That would involve adding entries to plugin.xml similar to these:
<extension point="org.eclipse.emf.ecore.generated_package">
<!-- #generated model -->
<package
uri="somePackage"
class="somePackage.SomePackage"
genModel="model/model.xcore"/>
</extension>
<extension point="org.eclipse.emf.edit.itemProviderAdapterFactories">
<!-- #generated model -->
<factory
uri="somePackage"
class="somePackage.someClass"
supportedTypes=
"org.eclipse.emf.edit.provider.IEditingDomainItemProvider
org.eclipse.emf.edit.provider.IStructuredItemContentProvider
org.eclipse.emf.edit.provider.ITreeItemContentProvider
org.eclipse.emf.edit.provider.IItemLabelProvider
org.eclipse.emf.edit.provider.IItemPropertySource"/>
</extension>

how to use wicket XsltTransformerBehavior when I have multiple .xsl files

I'm working part of a project that needs to display a .xml file with .xsl files.
Here's part of the code:
FILE_PATH = "myxsl.xsl"
...
Label content = new Label("content",xmlContent);
content.setEscapeModelStrings(false);
content.add(new XsltTransformerBehavior(FILE_PATH));
add(content);
...
Currently the page works if I use only one .xsl file. However, because the .xsl files I need to deal with can be really long, they are separated into several components.
for example, I will have
mymain.xsl, head.xsl, tables.xsl
the mymain.xsl has inclusion of the other like this
<xsl:include href="head.xsl"/>
<xsl:include href="tables.xsl"/>
I tried to set FILE_PATH to mymain.xsl, but it didn't work. The program can find mymain.xsl but cannot compile the stylesheet because it cannot find head.xsl and tables.xsl
I've been searching for a long time but still have no clue how to do this. Really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
I looked at the documentation of XsltTransformerBehavior, and it looks like it doesn't expose the functionality to set a custom URI resolver (which is basically what you want to do).
However, in the case that no-one else has a better solution, I can propose a workaround: Write an XSLT that merges your XSLT files into one file. See here for an XSLT that does this. If you're using Maven as build system, you can do this automatically in the generate-resources phase using the transform goal of the Maven XML Plugin. You can then associate the XsltTransformerBehavior with the single-file XSLT which will be available at run-time.

Magento programmatically appending code to template pages

I am developing a Magento extension and would like to run some jQuery script in the footer of the html template.
I have manually edited page.xml layout file to load my jQuery source and manually edited the footer.phtml template file to test my code, but I now want to package it up into an extension. The question is how to do this within my extension configuration, to tell magento to load the new jQuery source library in the header, and to append code somewhere in the footer (or anywhere) in the magento generated theme html.
Create a custom Magento Module
Use this module to add a customer Package Layout Update XML File
Use this Package Layout Update XML files to add a javascript src link to a (CDN?) jQuery, and add a custom block to the before_body_end block
Use this custom block to output your needed Javascript code
Use Magento Connect System->Magento Connect->Package Extensions to package up your customer Magento Module file, as well as any other files on the system you used (phtml template, jQuery files if not using a CDN, etc) into an Extension.
Wouldn't it be easier to use a static block? This way the client or yourself could update the jQuery right in the admin area without going into code. You could also add logic with multiple blocks if you needed. You can display a static block in a template like so:
<?php echo $this->getChildHtml('staticblockname') ?>
Otherwise you might want to read this tutorial on creating a module (which you call an extension): http://magento4u.wordpress.com/2009/06/08/create-new-module-helloworld-in-magento/

How to include javascript script links to pyrocms page?

I'm using pyrocms to develop a system.
I know that, to include style links in header tag ''
in a page is by using $this->template->set_metadata().
But how can I include javascript links like that?
Any answer is appreciated.
Alternatively, if this is for a theme and the script is housed within your actual theme/js folder, it becomes:
{{ theme:js file="file.js" }}
Using just the {js} function would send it to the actual system's embedded js files.
$this->template->append_metadata(js('foo.js)) will work, or you can dump it into the view as others have suggested.
If you are creating a template you can do it like this:
{js('file.js', 'modulename')}
See the Pyro documentation.
If this is not the answer you are looking for, please explain more clearly what you want. E.g. in which file exactly do you want to include your javascript?

Magento - locate specific core files

I am familiar with theming and using template hints in the Magento back office to locate .phtml files.
What I am not really familiar with are the core files such as app/code/core/Mage/Catalog/Model
What I need to do is override a core file like I would a core phtml file by copying it to 'my theme'.
I basically want to amend some labels which appear on the order summary page of the Magento checkout process - domain.com/checkout/cart/
I followed the trail to the phtml files using template hints. Within the app/design/frontend/default/mytheme/template/checkout/cart I found the code
renderTotals(); ?>
Now I managed, by accident, to stumble upon two of the files I wanted to change:
/httpdocs/app/code/local/Mage/Sales/Model/Quote/Address/Total/Grand.php
/httpdocs/app/code/local/Mage/Sales/Model/Quote/Address/Total/Shipping.php
I made local copies of these files (http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/how_to/how_to_create_a_local_copy_of_app_code_core_mage) to override the default labels, like I would if I was overriding a template file.
My question is, how can you locate core files which pertain to the 'stuff' you want to change, located in function calls such as renderTotals(); ?> in the phtml files?
Not being able to pinpoint stuff like I can with template hints is slowing me down, and I am struggling to find a solution as I am not up on all the vocab surrounding Magento yet.
Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance!
From the same settings page where you turn on Template Path Hints, also turn on the "Add Block Names to Hints" setting. This will show you PHP class names such as: Mage_Sales_Model_Quote_Address_Total_Grand to which you can deduce the folder path (underscores represent a subfolder, and the last piece represents the file name).
If you're getting a block such as Mage_Sales_Model_Quote_Address_Total_Default then sometimes it just takes a little common sense to see that it's pulling in other files from the same folder (such as Grand.php and Shipping.php). But there are generally only a couple files in the same folder, so this is pretty easy to see.
As Sid Vel said, a good Search Project functionality is helpful. But if you find yourself looking at Abstract.php of some class, often you need to look in a subfolder in that directory with the proper name to find the concrete implementations. But still, it gets you very close to where you need to be.
I always use Dreamweaver's site / directory search function. It will scan through all the files in the Core folder and tell you where the function is from. In your case, I would search for "renderTotals". You need to enable PHTML editing in Dreamweaver.
Most IDE's will allow this kind of search option. In Aptana you can Ctrl + Click on the function to open the file it is coming from. Magento takes ages to index itself on Aptana, due to its sheer size.
