I am developing my first page in Kohana 3.2 framework and I have a big problem. I have about 3 controllers:
default extends Template Controller,
home extends Default,
list extends Default.
Every controller has its own actions. I log in with home/login and redirect to list controller which opens action index to show some things in content of the template. The opened content has links to manage diffirent contents (like reprinting table with diffirent things in it). I want links to work like this controller/action but if one link is pressed, lets say, list/show, and i press again list/show (cause the menu is being shown all the time), it tries to enter list/show/list/show instead of just reopening the list/show. To sum up, it just adds pressed link to previous one, creating a mess. Does somebody know why is this happening? Apache's rewrite module is turned on.
Always being href's with a slash and specify the path to the controller from the web root. In other words the link should be:
<a href="/list/show">

I am working on this app where many pages (8+) are linking to the same page. Every page needs to show correct breadcrumb. Since many pages are linking to the same page, the target page (p5) has a number of breadcrumbs and each breadcrumb has a condition that an application item needs to have a specific value for the parent page.
For example pages 1,2,3,4,6,7 link to page 5. So page 5 has 6 separate breadcrumbs on it where the condition is when parent_page = x where x is the parent page number. So if the user comes from page 1, a correct breadcrumb is selected.
I feel that this is excessive and creates a mess. Also the number of pages that link to page 5 seems to grow. I could create new breadcrumbs for each parent page but I feel that this is wrong and want to find a better way. Can anyone point me in the right direction? how have you handled something like this in the past?
I haven't actually done it, but I remember wanting to at one time. I think you would need to "roll your own" breadcrumbs. You could use an APEX collection to keep track of the user's navigation by "pushing" and "popping" pages on to and off of the APEX collection. Then create a SQL-based list region to display these. You may need to create a bespoke list template to make this list look like breadcrumbs.
Had a similar requirement. Many paths to a single location and keeping the breadcrumbs in sync with the users path was a coding horror story. Finally we decided on not going down that road. The breadcrumb now shows the main path back to the main screen, which might not be the exact path the user followed. So, just a single breadcrumb per page. If you want to go back to the previous page then a "back" or "cancel" button could still do that, but not the breadcrumb.
I have a "contact" link on a webpage, that needs a #idxx hashtag added, so the browsers directly shows contact infos (that is on a about page). As the link is quite static, I've added it with django-cms's {% page_url 'contact' %} tag, and then manually added the hash. BUT: As soon as I change something on the contacts page, and then publish the changes, the plugin's id will change. I already enhance the menu with selected plugins (Institute / About / Contact) Is there an elegant solution for this problem, for example accessing the menu again, only for that specific node?
Real world example: http://www.wti.org
EDIT: I if possible, an solution that is 'invisible' for the user/editor, is preferred. Means: No parent plugins to put things in, no manual ids that users have to set. If possible...
Would a simple solution be to assign the target a static id, e.g. #contactinfo? Many plugins allow to give them a static id. If your target plugin does not, you could have it preceded by an empty Style plugin. I use aldryn-style, available here: https://github.com/aldryn/aldryn-style
I want to convert component to module apart from using plugin is ther any process to handle it.
(or)
whether we should code somethimg to make my mvc component to module .
(or)
is there any possibility to make my component to be placed at desired module position in my template
Regards,
noble
You can't convert a component to a module. A component, module and plugin are all 3 different things. Obviously if your component was something like a simple upload form, then this could be turned into a module but I doubt very much it is.
Nor can you place the component in a module position.
Judging by what you're asking, I am assuming that this is your own custom component, in which case, you should have had a little think and done a little research before you made it and brainstormed your exact requirements.
1st thing You can't convert a component to a module. You have to understand the difference between them
Components are the largest and most complex extensions of them all; they can be seen as mini-applications. Most components have two parts: a site part and an administrator part. Every time a Joomla page loads, one component is called to render the main page body. For example, Content (com_content) is the component which handles the display of content; users can view at the frontend of your site and, as an administrator, you can edit the content. Components are the major portion of your page because a component is driven by a menu item and every menu item runs a component.
Examples: Content (com_content), Banners (com_banners), Contact (com_contact), News Feeds (com_newsfeeds) and Web Links (com_weblinks)
Modules are more lightweight and flexible extensions used for page rendering. These modules are mostly known as the “boxes” that are arranged around a component, for example: the login module. The footer is a module. Modules are assigned per menu item. So, you can decide to show or hide the logon module depending on which menu item the user is viewing. Sometimes modules are linked to components such as the “latest news” module which links to the com_content and displays links to the newest content items. However, modules do not need to be linked to components, as a matter of fact they don't even need to be linked to anything and can be just static HTML or text.
Examples: Banners (mod_banners), Menus (mod_menu), Who's Online (mod_whosonline)

I am looking into ember.js, after working with SproutCore 1 previously. I am looking for some examples on how to add and remove views from the DOM as the user navigates the application.
For instance, I have an application that contains a set of cases and each case has a workflow. There are also administration pages, etc.
When the user starts up the app, a dashboard-like user interface is shown. From here the user is able to search or click on a case in order to bring up that case. At this point I want to do the following:
I want to remove the GUI for the Dashboard, and i want to show the GUI for the case - which is a complex GUI in itself with its own set of navigation rules etc.
Also, within the case I want to add and remove portions of the GUI as the user navigates and manipulates the case.
When the user clicks on the "Dashboard" link, I want the current GUI to be removed, and the dashboard to be added again.
As this will be a somewhat large application I am not sure if toggling the isVisible parameter is sufficient, or if other measures needs to be taken in order to not overload the user's browser.
Is there a guide, or an example that shows how to do this ?
WARNING: OUTDATED ANSWER
A view inherits from Ember.View which means it gets some key methods. append(), which appends to body, appendTo(arg) which takes an argument and remove().
The argument is a jQuery style selector of where to insert the element in the DOM.
// my view
App.PartsView = Ember.View.extend({
...
});
// create/insert my view
App.partsView = App.PartsView.create();
App.partsView.appendTo('#partcontainer');
In my code I have a <div id="partcontainer"></div>.
// remove from DOM
App.partsView.remove();
The documentation has a good part on Building a View Hierarchy and later a section on Ember.ContainerView depending on whether you want to do it all programatically or not.
I want to create a page in Joomla that displays only one specified module on a page and nothing more. I was trying to insert module in an article but it's not working because plugins are also adding content to an article, and I don't want to turn them off. MAybe I should create a template with a new position, and override default template on that specific page but maybe there's a better solution. Any ideas?
Joomla is coded to either expect an article or the output of a component on every page. I don't completely understand why you can't just insert a blank article with the {loadposition module_position} code unless your plugins are automatically generating content for articles. I'm used to plugins that only work when their plugin code is added to an article. Anyway, assuming that your plugins are automatically adding content to your Joomla articles, then the simple solution might be to add a new component like Zoo and use the "Pages" app to create a blank/no-title item that contains the {loadposition xx} code, then link your menu item to that Zoo item.
Have you checked the parameters of the article? Those should allow you to turn off the title, author, icons, date, and other elements that may be appearing.
I think it can be possible by this condition in index.php
countModules('condition')) { ?>
do something
do something else
you can put what you want in this module and according to this condtion you have to only insert module name in countModules('your module Name') followed by bhe code in the braces. and for rest of pages you can put your code in the else part.
