I have the following content

Title: [...]

and I'm looking for regex that will match and replace this so that I can parse it as XML. I'm just looking to use a regex find and replace inside Sublime Text 2, so I want to match everything in the above example except for the [...] which is the content.
Why not extract the content and use it to build the xml rather than trying to mold the wrapper of the content into xml? (or am i mis understanding you?)

Title: ([^<]*)

is the regular expression to extract the content.
Its pretty self explanatory other than the [^<]* which means match any number of characters that is not a "<"
I don't know Sublime, but something like this should suffice to get you the contents of the li. It allows for there being optional extra attributes on the tag. Make sure and turn off case-sensitivity, incase of LI or Li etc. (lifted straight from http://www.regular-expressions.info/examples.html ):
<li\b[^>]*>(.*?)

\S*(.*)?

That should match your string, with the content being capturing group 1.

I'm trying to process the html inside a contenteditable div. It might look like:

Hi I'm Jack...

More text.
*

*
*

**

*
*

*
*

*
What regex expression would match all trailing

but not the ones sandwiched between useful divs containing text, i.e.,
text (not html)
?
I have enclosed all expressions I want to match in asterisks. The asterisk are for reference only and are not part of my string.
Thanks,
Jack
You can use the pattern:
(?:
[
\s]*
[
\s]*
)(?!.*?
[^<]+
)
You can try it here.
Let me know if this works for all your cases and I will write a detailed explanation of the pattern.
I am trying to create a regex to match all a href links that contain my domain and I will end up removing the links. It is working fine until I run into an a href link that has another HTML tag within the tag.
Regex Statement:
(<a[^<]*coreyjansen\.com[^<]*>)([^"]*?)()
It matches the a href links in this statement with no problem
Need a lawyer? Contact Random text is great Corey is awesome
It is unable to match both of the a href links this statement:

I have been trying to play with the neglected character set with no luck. If I remove the neglected character set what ends up happening is it will match two links that are right after each other such as example 2 as one match.
The issue here is that [^<]*> matches everything up until last >. That's the greedy behaviour of * asterisk. You can make it non-greedy by appending ? after asterisk(which you already do in other part of your query). It will then match everything until first occurrence of >. Then you have to change the middle part of your regex too ie. to catch everything until first tag like this:
(<a[^<]*coreyjansen\.com[^<]*?>)(.*?)()
Use below regex which matches only a tag
(<a[^>]*coreyjansen\.com[^>]*>)
Example data

Above regex will match all three a tag with your required domain.
Try above on regex
I'm playing with the following regex and it seems to be working:
<a.*coreyjansen\.com.*
it captures anything between anchor tags that contain your site name. I am using javascript pattern matching from www.regexpal.com, depending on the language it could be slightly different
You need to match start of tag <a then match address before > char. You are matching wrong char. When you match that, then everithing between and is displayed link. I don't know why you compare to not contain quotes, every tag attribute (in HTML5) has value inside quotes, so you need to match everything except link ending tag . It's done by ((?!string to not match).)* and after that should follow . The result regex is:
(<a[^>]*coreyjansen\.com[^>]*>)((?!).)*()
I need to find the p tags inside the other p tag. I just given below example to understand it better.
Ex:

test12312312312312313131

test12

Some text
test

I need a regular expression to find the p tag inside other p tag.
In the above example the last p tag has another p tag inside. How can i find it through regular expression.
If your regex flavor supports lookarounds, try something like this:
(?s)
(?:(?!</?p>).)*
(?=(?:(?!</?p>).|
(?:(?!</?p>).)*
)*?
)
This part (?:(?!</?p>).)* assures, that there's no opening or closing <p within. The positive lookahead at the end (?=... checks for being inside </p. See demo for trying at regex101.
Generally regex is not the means for parsing html. What regex did you try and not work?
I think that it would be much easier to parse as xml. Java has built-in xml support or your middleware most probably has as well.
If you insist to use something else, you could loop through your string. When you find
then you increase index. When you find
then you decrease index. So when your index is 1 and you hit another
, then you know this is an inner
and you can put chars until next
into some variable (e.g. StringBuilder).
May String.indexOf() be your friend.
I want to remove a div from a couple hundred html files

blahblah blah
more blah blah
more html
<some javascript here too>

I thought that this would do the job but it doesn't
<div(.*)

Does anyone know which is the proper regex for this?
Regex
<div[^>]+>(.*?)

Don't forget to check the option . matches newline like in the image below :
Alternatively, you can use this regex also: <div[^>]+>([\s\S]*?)
with or without the checkbox checked.
Discussion
Since * metacharacter is greedy, you need to tell him to take as few as possible characters (use of ?).
Check that the divs you want to remove DO NOT contain nested div. In that case, the regex at the start of my answer won't help you.
If you face this case, I'd suggest you using an html parser.
I have an apparently simple regex query for pipes - I need to truncate each item from it's () tag onwards. I thought a loop with string regex of <img[.]* replaced by blank field would have taken care of it but to no avail.
Obviously I'm missing something basic here - can someone point it out?
The item as it stands goes along something like this:
sample text title

<a.... (a bunch of irrelevant hyperlinks I don't need)...
Essentially I only want the title text and hyperlink that's why I'm chopping the rest off
Going one better because all I'm really doing here is making the item string more manageable by cutting it down before further manipulation - anyone know if it's possible to extract a href from a certain link in the page (in this case the 1st one) using Regex in Yahoo Pipes? I've seen the regex answer to this SO q but I'm not sure how to use it to map a url to an item attribute in a Pipes module?
You need to remove the line returns with a RegEx Pipe and replace the pattern [
] with null text on the content or description field to make it a single line of text, then you can use the .* wildcard which will run to the end of the line.
