I'm generating a reporting services report from an ASP.NET (MVC) based application but am having problems setting the parameters for the report.
I believe the issue has only occurred since we upgraded SQL Server from 2005 to 2008 R2 (and Reporting Services along with it).
The original error encountered was from calling rsExec.Render:
Procedure or function 'pCommunication_ReturnRegistrationLetterDetails'
expects parameter '#guid', which was not supplied.
Debugging the code I noticed that rsExec.SetExecutionParameters is returning the following response:
Cannot call 'NameOfApp.SQLRSExec.ReportExecutionService.SetExecutionParameters(NameOfApp.SQLRSExec.ParameterValue[],
string)' because it is a web method.
Here is the function in it's entirety:
public static bool ProduceReportToFile(string reportname, string filename, string[,] reportparams,
string fileformat)
{
bool successful = false;
SQLRS.ReportingService2005 rs = new SQLRS.ReportingService2005();
SQLRSExec.ReportExecutionService rsExec = new NameOfApp.SQLRSExec.ReportExecutionService();
rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
rsExec.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
// Prepare Render arguments
string historyID = null;
string deviceInfo = null;
// Prepare format - available options are "PDF","Word","CSV","TIFF","XML","EXCEL"
string format = fileformat;
Byte[] results;
string encoding = String.Empty;
string mimeType = String.Empty;
string extension = String.Empty;
SQLRSExec.Warning[] warnings = null;
string[] streamIDs = null;
// Define variables needed for GetParameters() method
// Get the report name
string _reportName = reportname;
string _historyID = null;
bool _forRendering = false;
SQLRS.ParameterValue[] _values = null;
SQLRS.DataSourceCredentials[] _credentials = null;
SQLRS.ReportParameter[] _parameters = null;
// Get if any parameters needed.
_parameters = rs.GetReportParameters(_reportName, _historyID,
_forRendering, _values, _credentials);
// Load the selected report.
SQLRSExec.ExecutionInfo ei =
rsExec.LoadReport(_reportName, historyID);
// Prepare report parameter.
// Set the parameters for the report needed.
SQLRSExec.ParameterValue[] parameters =
new SQLRSExec.ParameterValue[1];
// Place to include the parameter.
if (_parameters.Length > 0)
{
for (int i = 0; i < _parameters.Length; i++)
{
parameters[i] = new SQLRSExec.ParameterValue();
parameters[i].Label = reportparams[i,0];
parameters[i].Name = reportparams[i, 0];
parameters[i].Value = reportparams[i, 1];
}
}
rsExec.SetExecutionParameters(parameters, "en-us");
results = rsExec.Render(format, deviceInfo,
out extension, out encoding,
out mimeType, out warnings, out streamIDs);
// Create a file stream and write the report to it
using (FileStream stream = System.IO.File.OpenWrite(filename))
{
stream.Write(results, 0, results.Length);
}
successful = true;
return successful;
}
Any ideas why I'm now unable to set parameters? The report generation works without issue if parameters aren't required.
Looks like it may have been an issue with how reporting services passes parameters through to the stored procedure providing the data. A string guid was being passed through to the report and the stored procedure expected a varchar guid. I suspect reporting services may have been noticing the string followed the guid format pattern and so passed it through as a uniqueidentifier to the stored procedure.
I changed the data source for the report from "stored procedure" to "text" and set the SQL as "EXEC pMyStoredOProcName #guid".
Please note the guid being passed in as a string to the stored procedure is probably not best practice... I was simply debugging an issue with another developers code.
Parameter _reportName cannot be null or empty. The [CLASSNAME].[METHODNAME]() reflection API could not create and return the SrsReportNameAttribute object
In this specific case it looks like an earlier full compile did not finish.
If you encounter this problem I would suggest that you first compile the class mentioned in the error message and see if this solves the problem.
go to AOT (get Ctrl+D)
in classes find CLASSNAME
3.compile it (F7)

I need to make a python code available as WCF for another application to access it. The python code was build by the data science team and have no ability to change it. I tried running the program as a process shell but it gives 'System.InvalidOperationException' exception.
I created the same program as C# console application and it works fine. The question is
a. Is this the right way to go about making python code available to another application (REST API is not an option).
b. What is the issue with my code.
public string ClassifyText(string value)
{
string textoutput = "";
string exeFileName = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/python.exe");
string argName = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/predictionscript.py");
ProcessStartInfo start = new ProcessStartInfo();
start.FileName = exeFileName;
start.Arguments = argName;
start.UseShellExecute = false;
start.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
using (Process process = Process.Start(start))
{
using (StreamReader reader = process.StandardOutput)
{
string result = reader.ReadToEnd();
textoutput = result;
}
}
return textoutput;
}
I want to use "GATE" through web. Then I decide to create a SOAP web service in java with help of GATE Embedded.
But for the same document and saved Pipeline, I have a different run-time duration, when GATE Embedded runs as a java web service.
The same code has a constant run-time when it runs as a Java Application project.
In the web service, the run-time will be increasing after each execution until I get a Timeout error.
Does any one have this kind of experience?
This is my Code:
#WebService(serviceName = "GateWS")
public class GateWS {
#WebMethod(operationName = "gateengineapi")
public String gateengineapi(#WebParam(name = "PipelineNumber") String PipelineNumber, #WebParam(name = "Documents") String Docs) throws Exception {
try {
System.setProperty("gate.home", "C:\\GATE\\");
System.setProperty("shell.path", "C:\\cygwin2\\bin\\sh.exe");
Gate.init();
File GateHome = Gate.getGateHome();
File FrenchGapp = new File(GateHome, PipelineNumber);
CorpusController FrenchController;
FrenchController = (CorpusController) PersistenceManager.loadObjectFromFile(FrenchGapp);
Corpus corpus = Factory.newCorpus("BatchProcessApp Corpus");
FrenchController.setCorpus(corpus);
File docFile = new File(GateHome, Docs);
Document doc = Factory.newDocument(docFile.toURL(), "utf-8");
corpus.add(doc);
FrenchController.execute();
String docXMLString = null;
docXMLString = doc.toXml();
String outputFileName = doc.getName() + ".out.xml";
File outputFile = new File(docFile.getParentFile(), outputFileName);
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(outputFile);
BufferedOutputStream bos = new BufferedOutputStream(fos);
OutputStreamWriter out;
out = new OutputStreamWriter(bos, "utf-8");
out.write(docXMLString);
out.close();
gate.Factory.deleteResource(doc);
return outputFileName;
} catch (Exception ex) {
return "ERROR: -> " + ex.getMessage();
}
}
}
I really appreciate any help you can provide.
The problem is that you're loading a new instance of the pipeline for every request, but then not freeing it again at the end of the request. GATE maintains a list internally of every PR/LR/controller that is loaded, so anything you load with Factory.createResource or PersistenceManager.loadObjectFrom... must be freed using Factory.deleteResource once it is no longer needed, typically using a try-finally:
FrenchController = (CorpusController) PersistenceManager.loadObjectFromFile(FrenchGapp);
try {
// ...
} finally {
Factory.deleteResource(FrenchController);
}
But...
Rather than loading a new instance of the pipeline every time, I would strongly recommend you explore a more efficient approach to load a smaller number of instances of the pipeline but keep them in memory to serve multiple requests. There is a fully worked-through example of this technique in the training materials on the GATE wiki, in particular module number 8 (track 2 Thursday).
I am trying to run an SQL stored procedure through ADO in C++. The procedure is called (for argument's sake) testProcedure and expects two parameters: #param1 and #param2. Here is a trimmed version of the code in the execution method:
m_mCommandParameters[_T("param1")] = _T("foo");
m_mCommandParameters[_T("param2")] = _T("bar");
pCommand.CreateInstance(__uuidof(Command));
pCommand->ActiveConnection = link;
pCommand->CommandType = adCmdStoredProc;
pCommand->CommandText = _T("testProcedure");
pCommand->PutPrepared(true);
pCommand->NamedParameters = true;
// Set up the variant to store the parameter values
VARIANT vParamValue;
vParamValue.vt = VT_BSTR;
CString paramCount; // Stores the count for use as parameter name
// Iterate through set parameters and apply them to command
map<CString,CString>::iterator mItr;
for(mItr = m_mCommandParameters.begin(); mItr != m_mCommandParameters.end(); mItr++) {
paramCount = mItr->first;
vParamValue.bstrVal = _bstr_t(mItr->second);
// Append the parameter
if (mItr->second.IsEmpty()) {
_variant_t vtNULL;
vtNULL.vt = VT_NULL;
pCommand->Parameters->Append(
pCommand->CreateParameter(_bstr_t(L"#"+paramCount),adVarChar,adParamInput,10,vtNULL)
);
} else {
pCommand->Parameters->Append(
pCommand->CreateParameter(_bstr_t(L"#"+paramCount),adVarWChar,adParamInput,
//commandParameters[i].GetLength()+1,
sizeof(vParamValue),
_bstr_t(vParamValue))
);
}
}
_variant_t vRecordsAffected;
pRecordSet = pCommand->Execute(&vRecordsAffected,NULL,adCmdStoredProc);
My understanding is that this should essentially execute the following:
testProcedure #param1 = 'foo', #param2 = 'bar'
If I open SQL management studio and run the above it works fine. But when I try and run the C++ I get the error:
database error IDispatch error #3092 80040e14 query : testProcedure;
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Syntax error or access violation.
I only have SQL express so don't have SQL profiler; I usually use Express Profiler but for some reason it doesn't display any trace on stored procedured. So I am not sure how to start debugging this.
Thanks!
Currently, I'm using Conversion Studio to bring in a CSV file and store the contents in an AX table. This part is working. I have a block defined and the fields are correctly mapped.
The CSV file contains several comments columns, such as Comments-1, Comments-2, etc. There are a fixed number of these. The public comments are labeled as Comments-1...5, and the private comments are labeled as Private-Comment-1...5.
The desired result would be to bring the data into the AX table (as is currently working) and either concatenate the comment fields or store them as separate comments into the DocuRef table as internal or external notes.
Would it not require just setting up a new block in the Conversion Studio project that I already have setup? Can you point me to a resource that maybe shows a similar procedure or how to do this?
Thanks in advance!
After chasing the rabbit down the deepest of rabbit holes, I discovered that the easiest way to do this is like so:
Override the onEntityCommit method of your Document Handler (that extends AppDataDocumentHandler), like so:
AppEntityAction onEntityCommit(AppDocumentBlock documentBlock, AppBlock fromBlock, AppEntity toEntity)
{
AppEntityAction ret;
int64 recId; // Should point to the record currently being imported into CMCTRS
;
ret = super(documentBlock, fromBlock, toEntity);
recId = toEntity.getRecord().recId;
// Do whatever you need to do with the recId now
return ret;
}
Here is my method to insert the notes, in case you need that too:
private static boolean insertNote(RefTableId _tableId, int64 _docuRefId, str _note, str _name, boolean _isPublic)
{
DocuRef docuRef;
boolean insertResult = false;
;
if (_docuRefId)
{
try
{
docuRef.clear();
ttsbegin;
docuRef.RefCompanyId = curext();
docuRef.RefTableId = _tableId;
docuRef.RefRecId = _docuRefId;
docuRef.TypeId = 'Note';
docuRef.Name = _name;
docuRef.Notes = _note;
docuRef.Restriction = (_isPublic) ? DocuRestriction::External : DocuRestriction::Internal;
docuRef.insert();
ttscommit;
insertResult = true;
}
catch
{
ttsabort;
error("Could not insert " + ((_isPublic) ? "public" : "private") + " comment:\n\n\t\"" + _note + "\"");
}
}
return insertResult;
}
I need to get the primary key for a row and then insert it into one of the other columns in a string.
So I've tried to do it something like this:
newsObj = new news();
newsObj.name = "test"
newsObj.Save();
newsObj.url = String.Format("blah.aspx?p={0}",newsObj.col_id);
newsObj.Save();
But it doesn't treat it as the same data object so newsObj.col_id always comes back as a zero. Is there another way of doing this? I tried this on another page and to get it to work I had to set newsObj.SetIsLoaded(true);
This is the actual block of code:
page p;
if (pageId > 0)
p = new page(ps => ps.page_id == pageId);
else
p = new page();
if (publish)
p.page_published = 1;
if (User.IsInRole("administrator"))
p.page_approved = 1;
p.page_section = staticParent.page_section;
p.page_name = PageName.Text;
p.page_parent = parentPageId;
p.page_last_modified_date = DateTime.Now;
p.page_last_modified_by = (Guid)Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey;
p.Add();
string urlString = String.Empty;
if (parentPageId > 0)
{
urlString = Regex.Replace(staticParent.page_url, "(.aspx).*$", "$1"); // We just want the static page URL (blah.aspx)
p.page_url = String.Format("{0}?p={1}", urlString, p.page_id);
}
p.Save();
If I hover the p.Save(); I can see the correct values in the object but the DB is never updated and there is no exception.
Thanks!
I faced the same problem with that :
po oPo = new po();
oPo.name ="test";
oPo.save(); //till now it works.
oPo.name = "test2";
oPo.save(); //not really working, it's not saving the data since isLoaded is set to false
and the columns are not considered dirty.
it's a bug in the ActiveRecord.tt for version 3.0.0.3.
In the method public void Add(IDataProvider provider)
immediately after SetIsNew(false);
there should be : SetIsLoaded(true);
the reason why the save is not working the second time is because the object can't get dirty if it is not loaded. By adding the SetIsLoaded(true) in the ActiveRecord.tt, when you are going to do run custom tool, it's gonna regenerate the .cs perfectly.
