I have just been given a ms-powerpoint template document to fix. It was created by designers using the slide master editor in MS-Office 2011 for Mac. The problem is that when the customer creates a new slide using one of these templates and then wants to insert a chart into one of the designated boxes (which is only one of the things that can be stuck in there) the text in the chart is always set at 18pt. I've looked everywhere for a setting that sets the default font size for charts (and smart art) for only that document but have been unable to find it.
Any pointers or help of any kind would be more than great.
I received the following answer from James Gordon from a Microsoft forum:
Charts are handled by Excel. In Excel you can create Chart Template,
which are saved in (.crtx) file format and will appear in the Ribbon.
The way to do it is to customize a chart and then right-click on the
chart. Use the Save As Template option from the pop-up menu. If you
save your template in the Chart Templates folder (the default when the
save dialog opens), after you quit and then re-open Excel, the
template will be available to you in the Ribbon.
SmartArt is within your PowerPoint presentation. There are various
approaches you might take regarding SmartArt. As you pointed out,
SmartArt can be specified in a Slide Master, or on Slide Design.
Saving a presentation as a Theme (.thmx) is one option. Another save
option is to save as a Template, which is more comprehensive (includes
every aspect of a slide show).

In sitecore "content editor" we can use the "image editor" by clicking "edit image" in the data section, but in the experience editor it is not visible.
is there a way to make available for editors to use the image editor? or this behavior is a sitecore standard?

I've just written it up in a blog post.
First you'll need to add a new button under
/sitecore/system/Field types/Simple Types/Image/WebEdit Buttons
You can duplicate one of the existing ones and change the icon and text yourself. Make the contents of the Click field:
chrome:field:editcontrol({command:"webedit:changeimage"})
(there's already a webedit:editimage so we can't name it that).
Open App_Config\Include\Sitecore.ExperienceEditor.config and duplicate the entry for webedit:chooseimage. Change the command name to webedit:changeimage as per above. Then change the type to the class you will create below.
If you have access to a decompiler, take a look at the existing command Sitecore.Shell.Framework.Commands.Shell.EditImage as well as the existing command
for selecting an image in Experience Editor Sitecore.Shell.Applications.WebEdit.Commands.ChooseImage. You'll see that they're similar, but unfortunately they use two different
methods of opening a dialog (Windows.RunApplication and SheerResponse.ShowModalDialog) so we can't reuse the existing class as-is. I have created a class that uses a bit of both (link below).
Create your class (eg. EditImage.cs), make it serializable and inherit from WebEditImageCommand like the other EE buttons. I have posted the full class as a gist for you.
When you select an image in the Experience Editor, you should now have an extra button in the list which opens the image editor in a modal window when clicked.
You need to do next steps, is not the most elegant way but you can do it:
In the Experience Editor, click the image that you want to edit, and in the floating toolbar that appears, click More and then Edit the related item. This opens the item in the Content Editor, from where you can scroll to the field that contains the image and click Edit image.
I have been playing around with Editframe buttons in a Sitecore 8 for a multilingual project and I have the feeling that Edit Frame buttons do not work properly on sitecore multilingual sites.
Were you able to get it working edit frame buttons with a multilingual implementation?
Is it working out of the box or do you need any special configuration?
My experience is that when I am on a localized page and I click on an EditFrame button, it will open the default language Item instead of the localised item. I am of the impression that this is what happen when you click on Edit the Related Item in the Experience Editor.

Yes, all the Fields I set up within the Edit Frame Buttons in the Core worked correctly with my Multilingual Site
Is it working out of the box or do you need any special configuration?
You need to add your Field Names into the Edit Frame Button Items in the Core database, found at the out-of-the-box path; /sitecore/content/Applications/WebEdit/Edit Frame Buttons/Default/Edit. Make sure your sc:Edit component references this path in the Buttons property
You may use different Display Names of the Fields for each of your languages for ease of use in the Content Editor / Experience Editor but as long as they are display Names it should be fine. If they are not and it doesn't work I recommend putting the Field Name for each language in the Edit Frame Item.
When I click on an EditFrame button, will it open the default language Item instead than the localised item, I am of the impression that this is what happen when you click on Edit The Related item as well
No, in both instances the Item will be loaded in the correct Language as well as when you create a new Datasource Item to be referenced by your Component.
The biggest issue that is present is when Edit the Relating Item and make changes to Rich Text Editor field or TreeEx field is that when you save it, it saves it to the default enlanguage, even creating a Language Version for it if it does not exist.
I have raised this issue with Sitecore Support and they are currently investigating. When they have a fix I'll update you with their solution.

The way that Page Editor handles versions has been causing issues for in one of our Sitecore solutions for a client. I've posted about them here:

Expected usage of Page Editor's Experience date
I didn't get much response on those and so far I've surmised that this is just how Sitecore works. This is less than ideal for our instance, as when publishing restrictions are set, authors don't know which version they're editing which is causing various issues for them.
I'd like to implement a solution(s) to improve the experience provide the following functionality:
Something in the Experience tab that shows the number of the version being viewed.
A button on the Experience tab that resets the Date to the default (this is not simply setting the date to the current date/time, but resetting it to act as it did before a date was manually set).
A custom button in Content Editor which allows an author to open a specific version in Page Editor...set the date automatically when it opens, I guess.
An any one give me some clues on how much of this is possible and where to start?

Move to "Core" DB in Desktop Mode

I just tried creating a List from Shared Components and then set it in a region with Page Region Template Position 3 and another Chart Region with Page Template Body (3), but in my case the side bar is placed on the right when I want it on the left... I have tried all the Template Position combination as possible.
Also when I click a value from the list, the page is opened on another tab. How can I open it on a specific region? As a frame for example

Having a left sidebar depends on the page template you select. Some page templates will have a left sidebare, other a right one, others maybe both. And since templates are part of a theme, it may be that some templates under some themes may not have a page template that offers what you'd want.
So the first you need to do is look at what page templates you have available in your chosen theme. You can do this by going to the Shared Components and selecting templates from there. Scroll to the Page Templates and see if you can find one there.
While it's a good guess that the sidebart region will be in position 3, and position 3 is in the sidebar, it's best to verify. You can do that by checking the html of the body of the template. See if there is a region assigned to a sidebar. You'll have to divine this from the markup or an example page and which one it is (position 2? position 3? 4?).
Pro-tip: from the Shared Components > Templates, in the report overview, you can preview certain types of templates, such as the page template. Just hit the preview button and you'll get a general idea of the style and the region positioning! When viewing the template in detail, you can also preview from the preview link in the right hand menu list.
As for the list: the example you linked has a list region on the left sidebar, but all those links are links to other pages. Thus, there are as many pages as there are links in the list.
If on your environment the links are causing a new page or tab to be opened up, then that likely means the attribute target="_blank" is present on those anchor tags. Again though, this just means that that markup is being generated by the chosen list template. Try another list template (by editing the list, under Source you can chose the template) or take a look at the theme's templates. You can find the markup for the individual list items there.
It'd be better not to concern yourself too much by trying to fiddle around with iframes just yet, because even though that'd be possible it is not an out of the box feature. Unless you're already really familiar with eg javascript I'd stick to page links until you're more familiar with the environment.
I would like to add a button to the Sitecore rich text editor toolbar, specifically one that inserts the H2 element.
I know the H2 element can be inserted using the paragraph styles pulldown menu, but all my editors are now using the bold button for their headings because they don't "see" the paragraph styles pulldown. So, I want to make the H2 easily available using a toolbar button. (And maybe even removing the bold buttons, since it's not semantic at all.)
But no matter how I go through the documentation, I cannot find a good explanation on how to do this.

Make sure that you select the core database (bottom right of Sitecore desktop) so that you can see the /sitecore/system/Settings/Html Editor Profiles area.
In my article here the first step of wiring up an event to a button is in javascript. From there you can insert text or tags. You can also get the selected text and wrap it in tags. You don't need to compile anything I was just showing how you would if you needed to, but you can entirely cut that piece out and just use the editor to send whatever text you want back to the wysiwyg editor.
